Confession #328 of a long-time royal watcher.

There's one thing I miss about the late Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh. His sharp tongue. For example, this is what the royal second fiddle said upon leaving a plane, when asked by a particularly unimaginative journalist what the flight was like:

"And how was your flight, sir?"
"Have you ever been on an aeroplane?"
"Yes."
"Well, it was like that."

Anyway, here's a picture taken out a plane window in 2012, using the Retro Phone app on an HTC Sensation... a phone possesing a battery life so short it would die faster than a cordless Magic Wand.

Moquette Fun

I'm always on the hunt for clothing featuring London Transport Moquette designs. The best place to source these are from the Transport museum. But there have also been dresses and jackets by other companies which unfortunately are not in stock anymore.

People seem to enjoy these, so here's another photo of a winter sunrise near Arrochar, with the Cobbler in the background.

While waiting for the ferry, I spotted this gull eating a starfish, looked like chocking at first…

A bridge basking in the last rays of the day. The shadow has already reached the bridge. However, a sunset also promises a sunrise. And I look forward to that, even if it sometimes takes a while.

A fireball streaked by while Yasutaka Saika was taking a photograph of Comet Tsuchinshan–ATLAS, producing this beautiful, accidental celestial alignment.

The late afternoon light was in a race with the thunder storms. It was beautiful to watch.

Bhaktapur just always throws a party when we hit town! Processions of drums and dancing moving through the streets today, right as we arrived at the palace square.

Such joyful folks. Newari is the main ethnic group in this part of Kathmandu Valley.

Spent a lot of time today talking to monks, and locals making merit at the temples. One of the things that makes Nepal such a great destination for photographers is that people will stop you and ask to have their photo taken.

Gotta be ready!

Welcome to Nepal this week. We're starting off in Kathmandu and the joy of walking around some marvellous temples with a camera. So much to work with. So much inspiration.

Through Open Doors - Arnos Grove

I love playing a symmetrical game where I catch passing trains through the open doors of stationary trains.

As far as I know carriages only officially open to both sides at 5 stations.
