The man rubbed a round mirror mounted on the wall. Within the reflection, a strange face appeared.
"Mirror, please tell me who is the most well-liked in the world?" the man asked.
"A difficult question. Possibly Keanu Reeves?"
"What about me?"
"You are supremely powerful," the mirror replied. "Your material empire is vast. You are capable of great and terrible things...."
"But am I well-liked?"
"On a likeability scale of Hitler to Keanu," said the mirror, "you're closer to Hitler...."

it's IRC but modern and cool: web client that works everywhere (phone/laptop/desktop), stays persistent, and user verification works with SSH keys instead of passwords!
why? real-time chat for discussing altbot, my projects, and just hanging out. sometimes async isn't enough, you know? also fuck discord :)
has image/link embedding, file uploads, works from anywhere, no app needed.

I've learned about Alt-Text on Twitter many many years ago (when it was less awful), and have seen it on Instagram (if I recall correctly, even with encouragement to use alt text).

Jimmy Cliff's death brings to mind The Harder they Come soundtrack. Decades ago, I was lucky enough to find it in a thrift shop - I subsequently played the record to death. While this isn't a Cliff tune, I've always loved it and IMHO it remains the most powerful track on album today (but feel free to disagree - it's a great record all the way through).

Oh god. A friend of mine and her hubby have been plotting to sell their holiday home, plans that will fund a gentle but lovely retirement. Three weeks ago, the day after they did the budget she awoke hearing him very upset - he was looking at his trousers and couldn’t remember what do do with them.
Long story short, he has been in hospital ever since, rapid decline, he no longer recognises her and has ‘rapid onset dimentia”. From normal husband to completely unable to function in three weeks.
Love your people. Do your wills and EPOAs. Have those holidays now.

Last weekend @lbky and I tagged a new python-varlink release 32.0.0 at Boiling the Ocean. The main highlights are:
* Dropping python2 support
* Raised the minimum Python version to 3.9
* varlink.Server() now supports setting a custom JSON encoder
* Various project modernisation's (PEP517 support, ruff linting, pytest, etc.)
Managed to work around setuptools_scm, package submitted for inclusion in buildroot 🎉:

Yesterday an open-source developer Christian has released life changing update to the privacy respecting #android app called #MakeACopy. The app now features so called #accessibility mode that is enabling #screenReader users to take pictures of the paper documents independently.
Accessibility guide is available on github.
The latest prerelease version provides clear Accessibility guidance phrases with screen readers such as Talkback, Corvus, Jieshuo and others that can handle announcement accessibility event.
I am verry happy about this. We are now getting privacy respecting open-source based screen reader accessible solution that performs very well and is easy to use.

If you wanted to monitor a website but specify a different IP address than the one in DNS and have it only affect that one test, how would you do that with your monitoring tool? It should use the correct hostname for SNI and the HTTP Host header. Can you?
I can do that easily with my stack, but I can't picture doing this with Nagios and other common tools. Not to my recollection anyway
