Today was a day of dealing with bureaucracy. Backand forth phone calls and all that stuff. Changing insurance coverage, unemployment application, blah blah blah. I think I'm done with all of it for the moment. So much for relaxation!

Then I realized: it breaks backward compat with 10-year-old DLLs that users can still swap in when they don't like a change. ~1ms performance gain vs. user freedom to mix and match components? I have this setup, and actually have all of my Audible stuff on an Audiobookshelf server, but I still use the Audible app because its easier to just download something and immediately and start listening, until something like this happens, of course.
