A já pořád, že jsem to už někde používal! Mandrivu jsem v roce 2008 měl taky. Akorát jsem pak přešel na Ubuntu, protože všichni linuxaci v mém okolí měli Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron
@pavel Já u Mandrivy zůstal až do konce. Pak chvíli zkoušel Mageii a přešel také na Ubuntu. Ale české fórum Ubuntu v té době bylo super. To byla zlatá éra CZ Linuxu.
@infoek to možná bude tím, že moje vůbec první distribuce byl Mandrake Linux. Když jsem si v roce 2007 kupoval svůj vůbec první notebook, tak v mojí cenové kategorii byly možnosti buď Windows Vista a nebo "bez OS"

Stáhnout a vypálit Mandrivu na stolním Windows XP mi tak přišlo jako nejlepší řešení
@pavel No já asi nebýt knížek Ivana Bíbra, tak jsem nikdy nezačal. Vzpomínám jak na PC mi nešel internet a ani zvukovka. Obojí bylo integrováno na desce. Bylo s tím sraní, tak jsem pak koupil zvukovku a síťovou kartu do pci express a byl klid. No to nemluvím o grafice. Pak už jsem notebook pečlivě vybíral. Mandrivu jsem měl fakt rád. Komunita byla také super. @james by mohl vyprávět 😀 @infoek
@pavel tak jsem přes z Manrdivy na Ubuntu tou dobou. Pak má mém stolním PC běžel léta Archlinux právě s KDE 3.5. když přišla plasma, vrátil jsem se na Ubuntu, to již na notebooku, díky lepší podpoře HW (suspend a hibernace fungovala out of the box).
@sesivany Tyjo, já s KDE taky začínal, pro změnu tedy v roce 2002 a na tehdejším Mandrake Linuxu. Ale jestli si pamatuju dobře, tak jsem KDE poměrně rychle vyměnil za GNOME a později za Fluxbox. Tehdy mě na linuxu uchvátilo právě to, že si každej může systém poskládat přesně dle své chutě.
To já jsem o Linuxu věděl ještě před tím. Někdo mi ukazoval tehdejšího Red Hata, jen já jsem ještě neměl vlastní počítač, u kterého by všem okolo bylo úplně jedno jestli ho zničím nebo ne ...
@smoon já mám s Linuxem první zkušenosti z roku 1998, kdy jsem si nainstaloval nějaké SUSE. Jenže jsem u toho dlouho nevydržel. Bez Internetu, žádný linuxák, který by mi poradil, kolem mě nebyl...
já bych taky asi u Linuxu nevydržel, kdyby nebylo knížek od Ivana. s Mandrakelinuxem 10.1 jsem začínal a na Mandriva Linux 2007 a Ubuntu 8.04 už jsem se podílel. @smoon
@sesivany Tohle je zajímavé, taky jsem se celkem nedávno zamýšlel co mě dostalo k linuxu a proč jsem u něj vydržel. Hlavně s ohledem jak motivovat za pár let své děti. Pravdou je, že odpověď není jednoznačná. Knihu jsem neměl, anglicky jsem moc neuměl. Jediné k čemu se přikláním je, že tehdy byla mnohem aktivnější česká komunita. A já jsem místo běhání venku vysedával na IRC, forech, icq a řešil třeba lilo, nebo kompilování jádra. Asi dost nepřenositelná zkušenost.

Já Google mapy vůbec nemám. V poslední době v GrapheneOs padala Waze aplikace. Tak jsem nainstaloval z F-droidu #osmand a zatím bez problémů a to musím navigaci využívat několikrát denně.
To nastavení je stejné pro všechny. Věřím, že fungují dobře. Jen mi to přijde zbytečný. Stejně jako používat v GrapheneOs Gmail. Jako navigaci jsem Google mapy nepoužíval nikdy.
Já to chápu, ale třeba zrovna OsmAnd+ jako navigace špatná není, ale jasně nelze ji porovnávat s Google maps. I ten vzhled je jinde, ale dá se to v pohodě a opravdu toho denně najezdím po Mnichově hodně.
Před rokem ho na mapě hledal jen málokdo. Ruský vpád na Ukrajinu ale Mariupol rychle vynesl do centra celosvětové pozornosti. Jeho obyvatelé z toho žádnou radost nemají. Z města zasvěceného Panně Marii se stalo místo duchů.

Also is it me or are they getting lazier over time, because it used to be "hey, check out this crypto crap we made, it's a great investment totally!!!!", but now it's "don't worry, we'll decentralize over time, we'll fake it until we make it, give us crypto..."
AGPL would be a great choice for server impls. GPL would be better for complete clients, but I expect most of the non-UI/UX client work to be in matrix-rust-sdk going forward.
I think using the *A*GPL for reference server-side implementations would be pretty much needed to avoid ending up like XMPP with a bunch of proprietary forks around(like Whatsapp's fork of ejabberd)
@devhonk originally we picked Apache to be as generous as possible, but given we’re in a position where the better the protocol gets, the less $ there is to fund folks to work on the core protocol (cf matrix.org/blog/2022/12/25/the…) that looks increasingly like an error. No good deed goes unpunished, as the saying goes.
Please just move on with AGPL for Dendrite, while it's relatively young project - as compared to Synapse, anyway. Server implementations need to be more transparent and gather a supporting framework, and being stuck with Apache is kinda missing out on that front.
@devhonk Unfortunately going with "permissive" license is not really being generous: it is giving legal justification to others to use your code to exploit users.
As I personally look at Free Software from the "consumer protection" angle, I don't think the so-called "permissive" licenses are ever a good idea.

@rumo @stereo blackpin acknowledge that they're built on Matrix, rather than rebranding it as their own creation, and i believe they are in discussions to support the Foundation.
Anecdotally from having seen similar experiences with people using Mastodon like this -- AGPL doesn't STOP people from doing this (cf. Hiveway), but it does make doing it more frustrating for them and more funny for the rest if us (cf. TheJester's thing).
I know at least one major company has a no-AGPL policy, and probably any company with public Internet services. So using an AGPL effectively limits use to non-commercial users (hobbyists.)
@menturion Dendrite and Synapse are maintained and published by the Matrix Foundation, which is currently at serious funding risk thanks to folks commercially deploying Matrix without financially supporting the Foundation. So if a shift to AGPL can provide a route to encourage commercial deployments to donate, we have no choice but consider it. It’s nothing to do with New Vector (aka Element).
Not sure I follow. Under the Apache license they need to 1) Give their users the license and 2) Show any Notice that you include (which would provide attribution)

Xubuntu je super. Flatpak někdo používá, že chce mít nejnovější verze aplikací co nejdříve. Někdy oficiální programy blbnou a z Flatpaku jedou v pohodě. Aplikace z Flatpaku nejsou závislé na distribuci, ale jestli vše v funguje je zbytečné přidávat aplikace z Flatpaku.
@archos Děkuji za vysvětlení. Já ani pro práci nepoužívám nic extra, office aplikace a prohlížeč. Takže můžu existovat prakticky na čemkoli. Jen občas mám potřebu si to tunit a pak končím přeinstalací, ale ta je už u všech dister tak jednoduchá, že to zvládám i já. Takže občas zkusím i něco jiného, ale vždy se vrátím ke Xubuntu, hlavně díky XFCE.
@archos Arch jsem taky zkoušel, byl v pohodě. Jen Xubuntu bylo právě "hezčí". Vím, že je to vlastně blbost, protože si to můžu upravit jak chci. Ale jinak distro, které mi chybí a bylo nejhezčí co jsem kdy měl bylo Fuduntu. Vlastně díky němu jsem kdysi zkusil Ubuntu, které jsem do té doby odmítal.
Fuduntu, to vůbec neznám. Já toho vyzkoušel také hodně. Teď už jen občas vyzkouším jinou distribuci, ale Arch mám jako hlavní systém. Tak Xubuntu používají prý i vývojáři XFCE, tak proto je tak vymazlený po instalaci.
@archos Fuduntu skončilo v roce 2017 (pokud si správně pamatuju). Jo, to vím, že právě Xubuntu je taková vkladní skříň XFCE. Hlavně mi vyhovuje to jak je konzervativní a přesto si ho můžu "přemalovat" jak chci. No a tím si ho občas rozvrtám tak, že jdu přeinstalovat a zkusím třeba Mint, který mě teda neoslovil ani trochu, nějak nechápu oblibu tohoto distra, ale kolik lidí, tolik chutí a tak tam za týden hodím zase Xubuntu a tak furt dokola 😄
