One area of opportunity I believe exists in the blind community, and in other disability communities, is understanding Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. For trauma survivors, including cult survivors, Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs teaches us that we should seek our safety needs before our social needs. In other words, if our safety needs aren't being met, socialization cannot come first. Because, safety needs are lower in the hierarchy. And thus, they must be prioritized before social needs, including management of social conflict, can be addressed. Why am I bringing this up? If you're a disabled trauma survivor, please do me one small favor. Do not, feel, guilty, about seeking, your safety needs, before your social needs. Sociology literally tells us that we are supposed to do this as human beings. And if other people don't realize it? Well, it's not your fault they didn't study sociology or group psychology in college. It's not your fault that they're not reading the following article I'm going to link you to on the fediverse. You're doing nothing wrong.

I just finished a refactor of the Jingle File Transfer code in #Conversations_im. The P2P file transfer code was probably one of the oldest code in Conversations. The new code should be a lot more resilient and brings support for XEP-0343: Signaling WebRTC datachannels in Jingleยน. This means we should be able to exchange files directly with #XMPP web clients. Due to the better NAT hole punching of WebRTC vs Socks Bytestreams we now have a higher chance of actual P2P.
