While patting themselves on the back for the strategic decision to take a stand on nothing, they blame young voters for being “hard to reach,” voters in the battleground states for being “hard to win,” Democratic voters for “eating their own,” independent voters, the media, the passage of time, men, the internet–but never themselves or their candidate for losing the popular vote to a 34-times convicted felon.
In a just world, none of these fools would ever work in DC again, but they’ll probably just use their increased notoriety to get paid even more to ruin the next one.
Wow, thanks for posting this. It was a great read. Three things I extrapolated from this interview: 1. how difficult it is to run an election campaign in such a diverse country like United States, 2. Democrats should really put their act together or we urgently need a new centrist party in the US (progressive isn't going to work in this country, IMHO), 3. Conservatives always know how to stick together around their false agenda and narrative. (1/2)

Vrijdag installeerden we de #neodome voor #MutationFest in de centrale hal van het #Wintercircus te #gent. Een fantastische samenwerking met Bring Your Own Beamer van #nerdlab waarbij onze dome bekleed werd met karton en projecties aan de binnenkant.
De #neodome is een ontwerp van Koen (links). Kris van @MakerspaceBaasrode (rechts) hielp onder andere met het 3D model en hardware aankoop. De enkele honderd meters aan PVC elektriciteitsbuizen werden gesponsord door ATS. Ik hielp met de wifi setup en de documentatie op github.com/Makerspace-baasrode… (work in progress).
De eerste installatie van de #neodome deden we tijdens @fri3d in augustus 2024 naast de tent van @MakerspaceBaasrode. Toen hadden we nog problemen met de LED aansturing, bleek een firmware bug in #WLED te zijn die we voorlopig vermijden door een oudere versie te installeren.

Excellent call by @openstreetmap! I've been using Debian for around 7 years now - stable on workstation and server, testing on laptop due to newer hardware - and find it less convoluted than many of the forks. Particularly Ubuntu which just baffles me at times.

Couldn't the #pgp #encryption in @thunderbird@mastodon.online be set so that a user who has not set up their own pgp key can still send encrypted mails to recipients whose key can be retrieved from the #WKD?
@FediVerseExplorer How do you think @Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox should handle this? Should one time key pair be Generated? I think it would break ability to read replies encrypted to such messages.
True, but #Thunderbird has gone to lengths to try and make sure that #e2ee either works completely, or not at all. I don't think they'd be on board with one-way encryption.
It's risky to allow one-way encryption, since the reply will (likely) quote the email and reveal stuff. Maybe we need Thunderbird to nudge people into enrolling in WKD.
I agree. but sometimes it would be very helpful if users could encrypt sensitive information with one-way encryption without having to deal with pgp setup themselves. With WKD of the receiver, this is relatively easy for inexperienced users to accomplish.
For sending a encrypted E-Mail, only the public key of the recipient is necessary, so far I know. But Thunderbird dosn't allow to activate encryption, if the sender hasn't a key...

So, I've long argued that all of software dev's dysfunctions can be traced to the fact that business outcomes do not depend on software quality, design, or reliability. As long as this dynamic continues the software we use will only get worse
Any ideas about what it would take to make business outcomes depend on software quality? It seems to me that it doesn't naturally happen at small, bootstrapped software companies either, since building a great product isn't sufficient or arguably even necessary to earn sales.
