Besides welcoming our new, developing spin in the form of Fedora COSMIC Atomic, we had a few more updates from the Atomic Desktop side of the project.

The main change is the implementation of composefs which brings you "the reliability of disk images with the flexibility of files." This and many of the changes are under the hood to help keep the system stable while introducing more flexibility to users and maintainers.

We continue down the roadmap to bootc!

As we're voting across the country, remember that the previous Harper CPC gov, and specifically #Poilievre as the relevant Minister, installed a bunch of steps to discourage voting, and remove Elections Canada's impartiality.

That mess was quickly removed with Bill C76 after the #CPC was booted out.

Let's not let them back in again!

The council of Canadians and the student federation are particularly pleased with four of C-76’s provisions. The bill restores the use of the Voter Information Cards as valid identification for voting. Elections Canada provides a card to all voters. It reinstates the time-honoured practice of allowing a voter to vouch for another voter by confirming their identity. It moves the chief electoral enforcement officer, the Commissioner of Elections, out of the federal prosecutor’s office – which reports to the justice minister – back to the non-partisan Elections Canada. And it abolished restrictions on Elections Canada to engage in public education on the voting process and the right to vote.

Friendly volunteers who obviously were passionate about the collection and helping out there.

The web is broken, IMHO

So there is a (IMHO) shady market out there that gives app developers on iOS, Android, MacOS and Windows money for including a library that sells users network bandwidth. Infatica [1] is just one example, there are many more.

I am 99% sure that these companies cause what effectively are DDoS attacks that many webmasters have to deal with since months. This business model should simply not exist. Apple, Microsoft and Google should act.

Playing with various technologies tonight. Managed to setup a brand new debian 12 systemd-nspawn container. Now looking through various documentation and other internet sources to combine it to a working #chatmail relay server. The thing is I only have a single IP address on the host system so I need to adapt it so the nginx running on the host either redirects or proxies to the container. Plus I guess I need to share the certificate in some way so postfix and dovecot can use it too.
