[Forum Topic] Using the all new #BTSpeak notetaker from #BlazieTechnologies with your iOS Device~ applevis.com/forum/other-apple…

So it looks like @protonprivacy made their Proton Mail app proprietary – or do I miss something? On the PlayStore there's a v4.0.6, while the Github repo at github.com/ProtonMail/proton-m… didn't see any commit since last October, and has v3.0.17 as latest release.

I hope I'm wrong here and just missed a note that you moved the repo to e.g. Codeberg or so?

in reply to Proton

Thanks for clarification! (Might be a good idea to have that in the Readme of the repo 😉)

I assume the answer to my question I've sent by mail several weeks ago (concerning per-ABI builds, as the "fat build" exceeds the allowed per-app size in my repo almost by factor 3) will come soon then as well? With multiple downloads/installs *per hour* according to the logs I guess you'd like me to keep the app available there, and your customers happy 😉

After 10 updated apps yesterday, today's #AndroidAppRain at apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid brings you 6 updated and 2 added apps – one of them the next piece of your green Fossify collection:

* Keepass Fidelity: Membership/Loyalty Card plugin for Keepass2Android
* Fossify Clock: Handy, lightweight, open-source clock app with essential features

Enjoy your #free #Android #apps with the #IzzySoftRepo :awesome:

@radasbona Nein.

in reply to Radasbona

in reply to Radasbona

in reply to Radasbona

@radasbona uff.

Alt text to images. :) it is supposed to describe what is on an image. E.G. The picture is of a piano, and a person is sitting playing. I am not the best at explanations, and it's a bad example, but it helps visually impaired blind and those who have troubles loading images, as well as others, that also makes sure your posts with media get boosted, as there are people who won't boost media without alt text. :)

NVDA's Browse mode = browsing, reading, consuming content. You can use single letter navigation keys (eg H for heading) to move.

Focus mode = filling in forms, editing text. No single letter navigation because you need to be able to type letters into the Word document or web search.

NVDA switches automatically, but has customisability if you don't want that. (André, aside from familiarity, I'm curious why you find it more confusing than Jaws?)

in reply to NV Access

@NikJov @menelion @daygar @vol4life8657 Also, if you ARE coming from Jaws, a good first starting point is the "Switching from Jaws to NVDA" guide from: github.com/nvaccess/nvda/wiki/… - which does cover focus and browse modes among many other things (but please do let us know if anything is missing)
in reply to Day Garwood

@daygar It takes practise, and also a use case - I can walk you through using it, but if you don't ACTUALLY need to use it regularly, you won't have a reason to retain it :) In 2023.2 we introduced flattened object navigation keys - you can use these to move through everything on screen without needing to go into and out of objects, that might be simpler to start with? (NVDA+numpad 9 and 3 in desktop layout or NVDA+shift+[ and ] in laptop layout).

The famous Alain Connes on how each mathematician develops their own personal take on the subject. It often begins with rebellion:

"The scientific life of mathematicians can be pictured as a trip inside the geography of the 'mathematical reality' which they unveil gradually in their own private mental frame.

It often begins by an act of rebellion with respect to the existing dogmatic description of that reality that one will find in existing books. The young 'to be mathematician' realizes in their own mind that their perception of the mathematical world captures some features which do not fit with the existing dogma. This first act is often due in most cases to ignorance but it allows one to free oneself from the reverence to authority by relying on one's intuition provided it is backed by actual proofs. Once mathematicians get to really know, in an original and 'personal' manner, a small part of the mathematical world, as esoteric as it can look at first, their trip can really start. It is of course vital not to break the 'thread of Ariadne' which allows one to constantly keep a fresh eye on whatever one will encounter along the way, and also to go back to the source if one feels lost at times."

However, that is just the first stage! He goes on....

"Caves" is one of my favorite DW stories. It's one of those stories with a lot going on that would be interesting even without the Doctor and Peri. I'd love to see an Androzani spin-off series. Btw, if you like that type of story I recommend the audio story "Exotron" from Big Finish. Its music and sound layering is remarkably like a fifth Doctor adventure and it also has an interesting plot. Nicola Bryant does Peri so well that you'll think you were listening to a soundtrack of a lost fifth Doctor story. It's a three-parter; the one-part story that follows it is interesting but I didn't care for it. #DoctorWho

Inkscape‘s development version has now switched to GTK4 ✨ , the current version of the underlying UI framework.

This is a huge architectural 🏗️ improvement for Inkscape, and will enable proper graphics acceleration ⏩ in the future.

This quick transition - only about 9 months - was made possible by donations, as we’ve invested approx. $80,000 towards it.

Ten years ago today I released version 0.1 of #Conversations_im on the Google Play Store as a paid app.

I believe that I have contributed significantly to normalizing the pay-for-the-binary business model for open source apps.

Ten years ago Conversations was one of the first apps to do this and definitely raised some eyebrows. Nowadays it feels like a pretty common thing.
