🧵 1/5 @padraig @thunderbird Took a little searching but I am working again! Yay. The complexity is that which setup to use with Exchange can be legacy (POP3, IMAP+SMTP, EAS, EWS/OWA) or current Graph API. Thunderbird 140 supports all of the legacy API but not yet Graph API.

I still support my 87-year-old English teacher with her computer. It started in 2003 when I was 15. We bought her a PC, set up a WEB.DE email, and installed @thunderbird to avoid WEB.DE’s bloated UI. We’ve replaced the computer twice, but she still uses the same email address in #Thunderbird.
Today, she called and asked me to help her donate €50 to Thunderbird. When she hears how others struggle with ad-filled webmail, she’s always grateful for her clean, simple setup.
What an awesome move!
Our May Mobile Progress Report shows how we're:

* planing early for TestFlight

* improving the account drawer and more

Regarding #NVDA, I'm getting really annoying freezes with #Thunderbird chat interface. I already filed a bug with Thunderbird for this: bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.…
But NVDA seems to be the one freezing, with logs that look like this: controlc.com/0f66d484
Anyone has any clue what to do and where to file?

Are any other @thunderbird users seeing the issues that @winterschon wrote about in this post? I've been seeing the high resource usage, just not quite as high (but almost as high). This is one of the reasons that I'm moving back to Emacs for my email or looking for a client that is a bit "lighter" on the resource usage.

We've been talking a lot about roadmaps for the last four State of the Thunders, and this volume is all about priorities. How do we set them and decide on timing for certain items? How do we make mid-development adjustments? And how do we make sure our priorities are in line with what our users need?
We're also updating you on Thunderbird Sync (Yes, Sync!), Thundermail and the Pro suite, as well as our mobile development. Watch on TILvids:

Heading to #KotlinConf later this week? So are two members of our mobile team! Be sure to say hi if you see them in talks and in the hallway track, and we've even been told @kewisch is bringing some Thunderbird for Android stickers to share!
that sounds terrible!! Why spend so much resource (time, human and money) on something so closed as Apple's ecosystem?
I think you should put effort on improving interface and other features, to a point where #Thunderbird could be a strong plus for Android.
Don't get me wrong, Thunderbird mobile is good, but it can be so improved yet!
We've had a few iOS updates in the last few Android Progress Reports, but with more substantial iOS news, it's time for a name change! So here's the shiny, new(ish) Mobile Progress Report! ✨
