Die Frage kann ich mit einem eindeutigen "es kommt darauf an“ beantworten. Denn es ist stark davon abhängig, welche Sprachausgabe (Microsoft, Nuance, Apple/Siri, Android/Google TTS usw.) verwendet werden, wie gut oder schlecht englische Worte von deutschsprachigen Stimmen vorgelesen werden. Da hast Du keinen Einfluss drauf. Und Alt-Texte sind reiner Text ohne Markup oder Sprachauszeichnung. Also gar nicht erst versuchen.
Du kannst aber davon ausgehen, dass heutige Sprachausgaben mit gängigen Anglizismen klarkommen. Und wenn nicht, dass die meisten Blinden es gewohnt sind, englische Begriffe in deutschen Texten zu hören.

I've finally switched to the @Vivaldi browser. I've been using Firefox for as long as I've been on the internet, but the focus on AI means it's no longer the browser for me. Thankfully unlike Chrome, Vivaldi supports the uBlock Origin extension which is the most important extension for being able to browse the web nowadays.
Ok, so you guys are probably tired of having to disable TalkBack just to play your audio games, and that frustration only grows when the game requires keyboard input. Well, not anymore! Introducing NVGT Bridge, your solution to this problem! It works on Android 11+ devices and lets you add apps that TalkBack should ignore. I'm updating 370 something packages on a Raspberry Pi 2 from 2014 running Bookworm. This particular rPi is just a backup pihole (primary on that network is running on an old Intel NUC). Anyway, this will take a little while. A 900 mHz quad core processor can only go so fast.
@klittle667 This rPi is a backup on my parents' network. Go figure. It's hanging from the back of an 8-port managed switch with no case by a 10CM long Ethernet cable, and a short MicroUSB. Has been for years. Probably not the best idea, but whatever.

the claim is that you can show that the inclusion process is incredibly bad and permissive not that there were secretly one million motorcycle crashes skewing covid numbers. people found a particularly bad one, and only AFTER a specific one was found, they got embarrassed and removed that single one.
furthermore tons of studies are based on scraping VAERS and there is no pre-verification at all.

but that's the way it should be. It's easier to go back and audit and remove entries that are not qualified, but it's going to be nearly impossible to find the ones you missed and record them properly, right?
two different systems in use. from the article it seems like the two-step verification process failed for this one anyway. bu yeah VAERS is supposed to be raw data and you can accept or discount a particular study by checking it, any study that is not employing people to manually check inclusions is going to have this problem
@sun I think the biggest problem is distrusting the professionals/scientists trying to get it right because the mainstream media announces everything like it's from the lips of God and suffers no consequences for it, so that whips people into a fury and it doesn't help that the internet has turned everyone into an "expert" on every possible topic

Excellent! I've had Tuta for over six months and love it. I just never accessed it on anything other than my laptop because I was uncertain about security on android. Good to know it's secure to use on my tablet and phone!

1. Focus indicators were added in various places 2. Events are focusable with a keyboard 3. Year/month spin buttons are navigable with arrow keys 4. Calendar grids are skippable with Tab, and cells are wrapped via keyboard focus 5. Calendar list box now behaves like a check box
For screen readers: events and year/month spin buttons have proper semantics!

I can't find a permanent job that allows me to function, I'm not eligible for government benefits, my grant proposals got rejected, paid internships are quite difficult to find. Nowadays, I work mostly on accessibility throughout GNOME as a volunteer, improving the experience of people with disabilities. I helped make the majority of GNOME Calendar accessible with a keyboard and screen reader — still an ongoing effort with !564 and !598 —which is an effort no company ever contributed financially. These merge requests take thousands (literally) of hours to research, develop, and test, which would have been enough to sustain myself for a couple of years if I had been working under a salary.

@ZBennoui My thing is when this stuff sounds better then what is on the charts, then people need to do better. This stuff shouldn't be passing for music. The stuff in the Dose of Buckley was sad and should never made it anywhere.

@mcourcel Oh for sure, and let me be clear that I'm not mad at people just playing around with Suno for fun, my main issue is that tools like this are being used to make music to post on streaming and take money away from musicians who put a lot of effort into writing, producing, mixing, etc.

On today's episode of are you fucking kidding me?: I'm trying to get a Texas ID. On the website, it states that an ID from a different state can be used as one of the documents that you can use for the process along with a social security card and birth certificate. My visit to the DMV told me different. Apparently, because my ID from California that I got in 2020 which doesn't expire until 2027, wasn't a "real" ID, as in the newer ID's that are required for something like flying, isn't a viable form of indentification, and yet the pamphlet that was referenced and website say otherwise. "federal limits don't apply." was what the guy said. Iff this is true, information needs some serious updating.
@arfy yeah, neither can I. My ID can't be used to fly. i mean it can, but starting in February I'll have to pay $45 or so I've been told, but it's valid for literally everything else.
WOW! What the stupid? When I came to New York from North Carolina, I lost my ID, and was able to get a New York ID with a birth certificate, social security card, and I think a printed bank statement or something that had my current residence on it. Might have been an energy bill. Anyway, that's just all kinds of dumb.

Two reasons why I think it's unwise to move from Firefox.
First, browser engine diversity matters. If all browsers become chromium skins, this gives Google a very unfortunate amount of power. It can affect web standards, de facto web use, all kinds of things; and there's no guarantee chromium will keep being freely released.
Second, pretty much any other possible alternative is worse across a set of metrics that involve accessibility, access to source code, privacy, and safety.
Servo is promising, but a11y isn't there; so it may as well not exist for me.
Hehehe lolol. I don't know, the interface and stuff. Yes, I should give it another chance, it's been a few years. I only use it these days when all else fails. And oddly enough, it always works, so I should see that as an advantage.
Which is your favourite browser, out of curiosity? I have to use Edge at work and it's ok, but I think I still prefer Firefox, at least Firefox has normal menus instead of ribbon abominations.
Edge talks too much for me. I like Chrome or Brave; which, I know, are both using the Chromium engine. Duck.com also has their own browser version. If I wanted to run Firefox at work, there are many hoops to jump through for that to happen.
Right, at work Firefox is recommended. However, someone decided it would be a great idea to turn off accessibility from the group policy system. So I can't use it at work myself. I haven't tried Brave and it bothers me for a number of reasons, but I also haven't used Chrome or chromium skins much. So I maybe don't have a lot of standards for comparison there.
Apparently, according to them, accessibility on the specific version of Firefox we run (which is some old ESR version) plays badly with the internationalisation in the regional language (Galician). So they turned it off. I haven't managed to get them to turn it back on, I should try to push on it again.
so far there are a few things I miss in other browsers. ctrl+m will mute a tab, which is great for unexpectedly loud audio. f9 loads reader view, which I find useful. the addressbar isn't greedy: with Chrome, pressing b defaults to bbc NEWS. with Firefox, it defaults to the bbc and then lets me refine.

@Scott right now it automatically announces when speech is on. I understand that most of us are turning speech off so no, not yet. We could build in periodic announcements or a self voicing keyboard shortcut. What would be preferred?
I like shortcuts. Isn't energy separate from points though? With speech on I hear the points being reported automatically, but related to energy, I only hear 15 boost or kaboom energy loss, not the actual amount I have left.
@Scott Not at the moment unless you navigate up and focus on the gameplay HUD. I need to group those together into single focus elements, and was considering adding a key shortcut for an energy announcement, plus am working on adding a danger noise so you know when you are about to lose. Also realizing that I should make the high scores list inert during gameplay to clean up the interface for us screen reader users. :)

Somebody save us from vibe coded #NVDA add-ons. The latest has a global shortcut layer that can only be activated once, and then needs NVDA to be restarted for it to work again. 🤦♂️
Having just installed the latest version of the add-on (1.6.0), the new global keyboard layer only works once for me and then can no longer be invoked until NVDA is restarted or plug-ins are reload...
@Bri I don't fully agree with you on this one. The add-on is legitimately useful when it works, and the alternative would be a separate (probably huge) app with global keyboard input, gesture remapping, speech output, etc. needing to be rebuilt.
That said, it does a lot of add-on stuff wrong, like implementing its own autoupdate mechanism for some reason. And the whole not currently working thing.
so then we need to apparently create some kind of framework, that uses NVDA with it's whole UI stack and add-on infrastructure as it's core, so that these things like youtube downloaders and radio players/controllers can be hosted in their own separated process, outside my screen reader.
@Bri We could do that. I'm not convinced running two copies of NVDA would be better than running one, though. Particularly as that separate app wouldn't need such deep keyboard hooking, and wouldn't be able to as easily output braille, for example.
I agree with you that there are certain tools that simply don't belong in a screen reader. In this case, it's close enough to making a shitty program (Spotify) more accessible that it doesn't cross the line for me personally.
@Bri I wish I didn't have to agree with your last sentence, but I do. The thing with Spotify is that you can actually use it, but it's such a pain that nobody would want to. I had cancelled for a few years before this add-on came around, and only subscribed a few years ago because of Blindspot. If this add-on were to disappear, I would cancel again and wouldn't bother. Maybe people who like music more than I do would put up with the annoyances, they're not for me.
