The part about over-emphasizing education and internal work strongly resonates with my experience of DEI, as a disabled (partially blind) white man, as it was practiced at Microsoft in 2020, in the wake of the murder of George Floyd and on Juneteenth that year.

I love LibreOffice, because it's free and open source and nowhere near as bloated as MS Office. I genuinely prefer LibreOffice, and I'd still choose it even if MS Office was free and supported Linux. Just sent you guys a donation for all of your hard work 🙂
I switched to LibreOffice from OpenOffice and I'm still happy with it like a decade later. Had to use MS Office for work recently and it's a disaster. The only thing I miss is that the disc icon doesn't go grey after saving. The little red dot just isn't the same 😩 But I love LibreOffice, as a writer I couldn't do without it. Many an eBook has been created using it ❤️
I like LibreOffice because 1) it is intuitive to use, you don't have to read a manual to use basic functions; 2) it is trouble-free to use without Internet in a sandbox (firejail); 3) it can be extended with add-ons; 4) it can read proprietary formats, unfortunately sometimes necessary; 4) its range of functions allows you to have no disadvantages when using free software for word/table/presentation editing.

And because ODF documents are much more efficient than Microsoft files. I have been using #Libreoffice for many years. I bought my first version in Munich, when it was still StarOffice version 5.2. That was quite a long time ago.
A while ago, Simon Phipps, member of the Board of Directors at The Document Foundation, shared the idea to introduce a peer-to-peer collaboration built in to desktop LibreOffice without the requirement for a cloud provider.
I love #LibreOffice because it's my faithful office companion since even before it was born. It was StarOffice, first, then OpenOffice and now the most wonderful LibreOffice. Never been without, in my home computers, but also my office ones (when I was allowed to, and when I wasn't, the portable edition was always there, anyway). It helped me with university tasks, with personal projects, with home documents, ... and it's even on my 9yo kid laptop! LibreOffice, what else?
I love LibreOffice because the interface is practical, usable and dependable. It’s cross platform, for when I’m not on Linux. The files are amazingly small. It natively supports document encryption, using keys in my control. It’s created with love, by people who care.

@Friendica Support Hi! I want to try channels for filtering. First thing I tried is setting up a channel which includes all posts similar to the "Latest post" one. In general it is working, all posts which I see in "Latest posts" are available but I can't see my own posts when selecting the self created channel. In "Latest post" I can see my posts as expected.

@patricus GTK 4.18 is technically accessible on windows through @Access Kit backend. However @GNOME is only providing platform tools. @Bruce I read "the Rift" a long time ago. I liked the concept but it seemed like a typical Trek story. My memory of it could certainly be off and if I reread it I might feel differently. Q-squared was quite a ride.

@Bruce @EJGilbert Yes, the initial group of commercial Trek audio books were abridged. It was nice hearing actors from the series reading them but they were all abridged.
@EJGilbert I'm sure it is. But I love hearing the actors read the books, though, and especially in the early nineties, we didn't have a whole lot of unabridged Trek available in Canada.

A tool on Linux that works offline and can do the very basic video editing that Quicktime X does on macOS. Mostly just trimming.
I don't want to create a project, import media, etc. I just want to open the source file, drag that start and end point around, and save a new video file.
Handbrake comes pretty close but it doesn't have visual editing. You have to enter timestamps or frame numbers manually.
