Well, it's official. I can finally kick good old crappy Adobe Reader to the curb. In comes Foxit PDF reader, as they've enabled accessibility support. Plus, I have found a portable version of it and it even lets you fill out PDF forms. So Adobe go bye bye and now I have something that is actually quite snappy to use. Vielleicht kann mir hier jemensch helfen: Gibt es eine Möglihckeit, bei Windows dafür zu sorgen, dass ein Audiogerät als Lautsprecher und nicht als Kopfhörer systemseitig erkannt wird?
Hintergrund: Mein Dienstlaptop wirft auf alles, was als Kopfhörer erkannt wird, nervige Raumklangeffekte, obwohl im OS dahingehend alles ausgeschaltet ist. Jetzt habe ich einen USB-C Dongle auf 3,5 mm Klinke verbunden. Was ich dort anschließe, wird als Lautsprecher von Windows erkannt und bekommt keinen Pseudoraumklang verpasst. Da ich mit Screenreader arbeite, ergibt sich dadurch ein extrem viel entspannteres Arbeitsgefühl! Nachteil ist allerdings, dass mein Dienstheadset via USB-C als Kopfhörer erkannt und folglich mit den Audioeffekten beworfen wird. Ich würde es aber gern nutzen.
Kann ich angeschlossene und als Kopfhörer erkannte Audiogeräte, wie das Dienstheadset zu Lautsprechern umdeklarieren? Bonuspunkte, wenn das ohne Adminrechte geht. Danke!

Wenn das Headset einen USB-class compliant driver mode hat, könnte es helfen den Headset Treiber zu deinstallieren, dann sollte Windows Fallback auf class compliant eigentlich durchführen. Aber das ist hakelig, braucht Adminrechte und ich hab das seit Windows 8 nicht mehr gemacht :/

I think it will disappear if you update Bookface. There's a (previous) stable version of Bookface, and a version for RC. I think you should use the RC version now.

Additionally, you are focused on promoting commercial and corporate projects that puts profits instead of users first, but leave those community projects which really cares about us proletarian computer users out. This is unethical and unjust. I recommend XMPP, Delta Chat and SimpleX for people's privacy and freedom sake.

I just wanted to say thank you to all the #blind folk who responded last night to give me so many fantastic responses.
It's given me a clear direction of travel, and been quite affirming in terms of my future plans.
I don't have as much money as I'd like, but I can certainly do some things.
I think I'm going to go back to the table and ask the charity to put some of our own money in so that I can do something for Deafblind people.

Yep. Sometimes here it's been like, the more I need the appointment, the higher the chance of that sneaking up. I don't have any solutions really, just letting you know you're not mad. Or at least, you're not the only one who is... whatever that is.
A long one, but that's pretty common for Hindustani Classical. This is a recording from 1974 of Surbahar (essentially bass sitar) playing rāg yaman. This serene evening rāg is similar to lydian, though with rules. Alāp Jor Jhala refers to distinct sections. The alāp is a slow free-rhythm exploration of the rāg, jor/jod () introduces a steady rhythm, and jhala introduces a more lively rhythm (a constant pattering of melodic raindrops).

Yes, I need to learn more about Indian music, I love listening to it but I'm pretty much ignorant of the meaning of all the modes. It was especially amazing when Imrat Khan made the lower string sing in the 2nd octave, like really healing sounds.
@menelion Hindustani and Carnatic music theory are interesting different worlds to explore. I’ve mainly done rhythm theory though, but I understand the basics of rāg. Perhaps useful to know. The melody is mainly happening on one string. For reference, the surbahar usually has a scale length of 95-100cm. The instrument’s overall length can be more like 130cm. It’s a beast!

Für blinde Musiker*innen, die die zugänglichen Keyboards und auf NKS basierenden Bibliotheken nutzen, weil sie eben sprechend sind und somit zugänglich, im Gegensatz zu vielen anderen solchen Keyboard-Systemen, ist das eine verdammt schlechte Nachricht. Sehende können vielleicht auf Alternativen ausweichen, wir haben aber solche nicht. Wie bitter! Hoffe das ganze Ökosystem wird irgendwie gerettet.

The whole thing took about 15 minutes, most of which was installing packages over a slow network connection.

So, jetzt weiß ich auch, woran es lag, dass ich immer dachte, meine Posts auf diesem Account würden zu spät in der Timeline erscheinen. Mein Programm, mit dem ich tröte, steckt noch in der Entwicklung, und erst jetzt ist das Streaming komplett. Jetzt läuft also alles. Das wird bedeuten, dass ich in nächster Zeit auf meine Instanz umziehe.

So um I just used this Guide thing to activate an inaccessible vst plugin holy fuck that was cool.
I've only tried this one so far. Didn't like Guide's monetization model. Doesn't have to be free here but I'd prefer to buy a pack of assists rather than a rolling sub.

I was trying to explain The Archers in a video call I was in on Duolingo. It asked me to tell a story from it and I just sighed and said that there were many crazy stories to tell. Makes me find a telenovela in Spanish to listen to. There are more on tv but don't know if there are any radio versions.
