Hey all. I finally overcame my anxiety and made this.

I'm asking for 1700 to help me pay down my debts and get on even footing so I can move forward with emergency dental treatment. Anything can and will help. If you're not able to help, please share for visibility.

I really need help with this and would appreciate any assistance more than you can imagine.

Thanks and all the love in the world.

Not sure if I've talked about this here, but there are like, tons of stuff here. I'm gonna try that Linux distro through Crostini on my old ChromeBook that I don't do anything else with anymore. The VM's over the Internet are really cool too! The AT Museum is cool. And I'm curious to see if the Windows 2000/XP on **Android** works. That'd be trippy.

I'd love to hear one of them power up. The one thing we didn't like about the perkins ones is the loudness of the refresh rate. This is a good thing, though. :) -t

A lot of people are talking about alternatives to the Ladybird browser/browser-engine. I have a list in my site’s compatibility statement.

  • Servo (Rust, some C++) and WeasyPrint (Python, some deps with other bindings) are probably the most capable alternative actively-developed engines.
  • Dillo (C++) and Hastur (C++, requires Bazel) seem promising.
  • If you have a VR headset, be sure to try Igalia’s Wolvic (Java).
  • While NetSurf (C) works very well, development on its web engine seems to have slowed down a lot.

I’ve tried all except Hastur and Wolvic.

is the browser engine responsible for accessibility as well? I thought it just renders, while accessibility is a separate process, which gets the DOM in some form of an IPC message. Isn't that how it was in firefox before cache the world? that's what I remember. Also, technically there's now a rust library for accessibility, called accesskit, with which you can just implement afew traits for the objects which are supposed to represent rendered objects, and with some initialization code to link the stuff, you get accessibility just like that. So yeah, technically accessibility could easily enough be added
in reply to the esoteric programmer

@esoteric_programmer Sort of. Browsers are responsible for building an accessibility tree from the DOM, and varying support for browser features like ARIA shows. Like you said, this gets complicated as assistive technology does usually hook deeper into the browser. the line between the browser and the assistive technology gets blurry.

Yelp says it is dramatically increasing information about accessibility in listings on its site for restaurants and other locations, while also pushing businesses to become more inclusive.

“This is a purely technical project. No ideology!”

There's a fun little browser extension called "StreetPass for Mastodon", which notices if websites you're browsing have official Fediverse accounts:

➡️ streetpass.social

When you check your StreetPass, it will show you a list of all the official accounts from the sites you've been browsing. It does this offline, your browsing data doesn't leave your machine, and the code is free open source.

Official accounts are detected by verification (more info: fedi.tips/how-do-i-verify-my-a…).
