in reply to David Goldfield

@DavidGoldfield I love this shortcut! So glad you mentioned it. I use it pretty frequently! It's a little bit of finger gymnastics to do it, but I'm happy it's available.
in reply to Chris Cooke

@CreativeChris Yep, being able to append to the clipboard is incredibly convenient. You can also avoid the finger gymnastics by either reassigning the shortcut key or by just adding it to another key using the JAWS Keyboard Manager.
in reply to David Goldfield

@DavidGoldfield Oh, that's brilliant! I never thought of reassigning the keyboard command to this. Awesome!
in reply to Michael Babcock

Also, you can append text to the clipboard with NVDA, using the same hotkey that JAWS uses for this function, if you install the Clip Contents Designer add-on from the add-on store via the NVDA menu. The add-on also lets you clear the contents of the clipboard as well as being able to view the contents of the clipboard. Hotkeys for this add-on can be reassigned or added to other keys by using NVDA's Input Gestures dialog, as it has a category for the Clip Contents Designer add-on once that add-on is installed.
Any NVDA user who needs to do a lot of clipboard management shouldn't be without this add-on. #NVDA

@payown @CreativeChris I should also mention that, if you want that newly modified keystroke to be available globally, don't forget to choose the default configuration from within Keyboard Manager by pressing shift+ctrl+D. You guys likely already know that but it's worth mentioning for those who are new to Keyboard Manager.
Also, as an odd keyboard shortcut, insert+8 (on the row of numbers) can be used to open Keyboard Manager; that one's been in JAWS for ages. It's a bit faster than the other ways of opening Keyboard Manager but it's not as intuitive. I still use it as it's one of the first ways I learned to open Keyboard Manager.

So, a collegue of mine spent 90 days cycling through the USA, from East to West. He tells Americans hate cyclists (all Dutch folks/for that matter) because they consider them to be 'left'. They even seem to have a tailpipe soot button to annoy them if they don't have an Americans flag on display somewhere on the bike.
WUT?

Can anyone suggest a good weight skill that works with the iPhone? I have a fit index one, but it seems to be killing batteries very quickly.

My honest, main motivation for switching from the basic Gmail client on Android to @thunderbird Mobile is that my city councillor and local library both send really long emails that gmail cuts off and then I have to open it in another window and then if I tab away from that window it resets to the top of the email. I know that Google will never solve this annoyance because they do not care. So this is my plug for Thunderbird on Android: it doesn't cut off your long emails.
in reply to Ruth / Anarchae

No matter what the reason is, we're always happy when someone makes the switch to Thunderbird! Thanks for sharing your story and tagging us! 💙

@thunderbird Do you have plans to improve animations in Thunderbird Mobile for this year?

Specifically transitions from the message to the message list and vice versa. It works horribly now...

Thank you for the feedback on this. We don't know our 2025 roadmap yet, but we'll get this feedback to the team. You can also submit this under the Thunderbird for Android label on Mozilla Connect: connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/i…

Thank you so much for supporting us and keeping this blade sharp and useful for 20 more years! 💙 🩱

Hey @fdroid Just now I was writing a fairly long e-mail in @thunderbird when it updated and stopped abruptly. I lost the contents of my e-mail, it wasn't even in the drafts folder.

I would much prefer not to be interrupted with an update while working in an app, but if that can't be avoided then have the app shut down gracefully so it saves work in progress.

Is this a known issue? Should I file a bug report? A feature enhancement request?

Thx for all the other great work, tho!

in reply to Bob Jonkman

Thanks for tagging us in this - it's good to know in case we have people reporting this issue on our end!

@RaccoonForFriendica new version 0.1.0-beta21 available for testing!

Changelog:
🦝 add option to load media only when connected over a WiFi network;
🦝 add option to open web pages in internal viewer;
🦝 default visibility for replies and warning if higher visibility than original post;
🦝 prevent changing visibility in post edits;
🦝 make plain text mode the default choice for composition;
🦝 remove "other" section in login;
🦝 improved video player;
🦝 render custom emojis inside poll options;
🦝 layout fixes: chat title, user items in inbox, loading indicators in buttons;
🦝 fix occasional crash in profile screen;
🦝 add more unit tests;
🦝 several dependency updates.

If things go well, this may be the final round of tests before the first stable release. The last bit will probably be making crash reports opt-out by default.

I'm also very pleased to inform you that the app has been accepted by IzzyOnDroid, so installing it is a lot easier if you use it or have its source added to your FDroid app.

In the meantime #livefasteattrash!

in reply to ❄️ freezr ❄️

@𝔇𝔦𝔢𝔤𝔬 🦝🧑🏻‍💻🍕

Apprezzerei se potessi tenerla fissa! 🙏

Grazie! 🙏

in reply to ❄️ freezr ❄️

ps. Termine tecnico "pallozzo".

in reply to 𝔻𝕚𝕖𝕘𝕠 🦝🧑🏻‍💻🍕

@𝔇𝔦𝔢𝔤𝔬 🦝🧑🏻‍💻🍕

Grazie! 🙏

The role is Australian/Remote. The office is in Sydney but there's team members all over Australia.

The details are in the job posting, but if you have any questions feel free to ask me any questions publicly or via DM.

If you are not a PM but have some in your network, please boost for visibility! I'd love to work with cool fedi people!

Hey folks! I'm getting back into Thunderbird as my main email app on Windows and I'm on the hunt for some great add-ons.

I'm especially interested in **accessibility-focused add-ons** that play nice with NVDA and JAWS screen readers. But I'm also curious about any **cool add-ons** that make Thunderbird even better, even if they're not specifically for accessibility.

Got any recommendations? Share them here!

Tagging @mastoblind and @main to spread the word. This is for my fellow blind users, but anyone with a favorite Thunderbird add-on, please chime in!

Not sure what's going on, but when sending some messages using Outlook from Microsoft 365 in the last couple days, I've noticed that my writing has been replaced with what appears to be gibberish, or at least weird symbols. It seems to happen when I use the Send Again feature. Anyone know what may be causing this behavior?

Hmmmm. "cool" feature of some IX's combined with some IX participants.

First, find a IX address that is not in use:

root@linx-ns:~# ping 195.66.231.230
PING 195.66.231.230 (195.66.231.230) 56(84) bytes of data.
^C
--- 195.66.231.230 ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 0ms

Then hard set it's neighbour mac address to something that is not on the IXP
root@linx-ns:~# ip neigh replace 195.66.231.230 lladdr de:ad:ad:dd:dd:dd dev enp129s0f0.700

Then set a destination route to go via the mac-address-that-does-not-exist
root@linx-ns:~# ip route add 9.9.9.9/32 via 195.66.231.230

and then ping it
root@linx-ns:~# ping 9.9.9.9
PING 9.9.9.9 (9.9.9.9) 56(84) bytes of data.
From 195.66.226.119: icmp_seq=1 Redirect Host(New nexthop: 195.66.225.238)
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=1 ttl=63 time=0.720 ms
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=1 ttl=63 time=0.756 ms (DUP!)
64 bytes from 9.9.9.9: icmp_seq=1 ttl=63 time=1.47 ms (DUP!)
^C
--- 9.9.9.9 ping statistics ---
1 packets transmitted, 1 received, +2 duplicates, 0% packet loss, time 0ms
rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 0.720/0.981/1.468/0.344 ms

:wow-horse: Cool right??

What is happening here is nuts on many different levels. To start, the non existent MAC address forces this IX (LINX) to treat any packets send to as "BUM" traffic, LINX could have prevented this by using static MAC like quite a lot of the other big ones do.

That however does not explain why we got ping responses... It turns out some routers on the peering LAN don't check if the destination MAC address for a packet is their own before forwarding the traffic! in this case 3 different LINX member routers saw my unknown unicast packet and was like "sure, why not, I'll route that!", and the packet routed all the way through to 9.9.9.9, and a response came back to me.

Mental!

Back in the 90s when I used AOL, Wired magazine had a forum. One day a new user arrived and said she was married to Elwood Edwards, who was the voice that said “You’ve Got Mail!”. So we suggested a bunch of other things he should record in that voice— “You want fries with that?”, “You’ve got credit card debt!”, etc. He recorded them! You can listen to them here: aolsucks.org/aolsound.htm

I know it's not even Thanksgiving but I just had to listen to my favorite, secular, absolutely non-religious Christmas song; Chiron Beta Prime by Jonathan Coulton.
I absolutely love the traditional religious Christmas songs but that one is my favorite non-religious piece.
