TIL: @tuxedocomputers released #Linux #kernel drivers for their machines under the #GPLv3, which makes it impossible for competitors and distros to ship them pre-compiled, as that license is incompatible with the #LinuxKernel's #GPLv2 only license.
They did this purposely, allegedly to "keep control of the upstream pacing" – and want to re-license the code while upstreaming.
I was looking into this project's kernel modules to figure out packaging it, and I discovered that this project's license is not compatible with the Linux kernel's own license, thus the combination...
2/ side note: wondering if they require a CLA that allows re-licensing for any meaningful contributions, otherwise they can not upstream contributed code (and wouldn't be allowed to ship the drivers pre-compiled themselves).
3/ It got even stranger: it seems @tuxedocomputers provided the wrong license to the #LinuxKernel's MODULE_LICENSE()[1] macro either by accident or on purpose. 🧐
@waldi pointed that out earlier today elsewhere in this thread; PWM maintainer Uwe Kleine-König a little later submitted a bug report asking this to be fixed:

Wondering why that happened – did they only notice now that the drivers do not compile any more because they use GPL-onlyed symbols, which are inaccessible for any non-GPLv2-compatible module?

They are working on doing the same for the remaining drivers.

Using Explorer Patcher (github.com/valinet/ExplorerPat…) has just revolutionized my Windows 11 experience, now that I got it to work, finally after a year of not looking at it and tossing it in the dustbin. I personally had a hard time clicking a blank area of my taskbar with a screen reading tool, so if you are using one, an alternative is to run this command from your Run (Windows +R) dialog: C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe "C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher\ExplorerPatcher.amd64.dll",ZZGUI after running, a window titled "properties" should open. Use up and down arrow to choose a setting, left and right to change one. I personally enabled the shell integration, simple tab switcher, and in advanced, definitely "Enable SysListView32 for Explorer views" - this will give you the older "folder view list view" type view when browsing lists of folders, and it does speed up the arrowing back to how I remember it. Be sure to also check the "control interface" setting and if you want the older Windows 7 menu bar back, choose "Windows 7 command bar." All of this does make Explorer Patcher worth it, especially if running on non-insider builds. Highly recommended for anyone fed up with Windows 11's bloat and slowness. Side note: I could not get it to cooperate well with my Open Shell once I reverted to the older Start Menu, so I've removed that for now.
Note that instead of clicking the empty area on the task bar, you can also just press the appications key on the Type here to search button, and then that will have a properties item at the bottom allowing you to get to that screen.

After upgrading to #Android 15 I was tracking down this bug in #Conversations_im where the color of the text in the status bar sometimes doesn't change with the app theme. Occasionally I would get white status bar text on top of a light theme. Then I noticed that other apps - including the clock app! - have the same issue. I'm absolutely convinced that the engineers working on Android are all using iPhones. I mean how does one not notice issues like that?
Since Android 12, my Firefox has a similar problem. I always thought it was because of it not getting the switch from light to dark theme or vice versa because one force close and restart later it's fine again. But that's not the whole story as the chrome inside the app follows the system theme. It's just the status bar. I can only imagine that that's only set at app startup once and never touched again. Or not runtime changeable at all.
I just wanted to let you know I just updated my CalyxOS install to the Android 15 base and I'm not experiencing any problems like this. Is there anything in particular you've noticed that triggers it, or can you just not read your status bar sometimes?

I don't want to be a mean person, but if he really said that, this is really ungrateful and shows how much appreciation he actually has about other countries helping when help was needed. Compassion goes so far, but threatening a nation's security in the name of war allies, wellp. Nope. If only everyone could go for peace. Just for a year, or like 20... Often people have short memories about help. Humans just cannot appreciate today. I am not going to talk about the other end, where ukrainians here live better than us in my own country, but okay. Unfortunately it happens a lot these days that someone else lives better in someone else's country. People need to learn how to appreciate, and how to have compassion. Because we're all connected, want it or not. Even on a human level we're the same, we do the same things. So a bit of respect won't go unnoticed. and saying so and so isn't doing enough but you know they can more is just, greed. I am sorry.

And here we were thinking of buying an SSD the worth of a house. Oh well, I guess that dream got broken. LOL. Also, there are a million reasons for not doing what we do every day, but yeah.
Oof, how did that happen? Also I am fan of hard drives, not SSds, mainly because they spin, and because the sound is kind of soothing if the hard drive is well-made. SSD is just like, nothing, silent. I have a 500Gb one, and it works, it's okay, but only if I need to use it for a VM from time to time. I won't deny the faster speeds though, also there should be some care of these ssds and whatever. I am not sure and I don't understand so I can't say much on it.
Also, that's not how you should write price tags, haha. Hey, that's also a lot of money here, like multiply by 2.15 and wow. I am not buying one any time soon. Goes way over my sallary.
