I'm restarting my job search; I had an offer, but it fell through.
Remote US preferred, but hybrid Washington, DC works too. I have 17-ish YOE as a software engineer, and have worked on both frontend and backend, but I lean toward the backend.
It is a messenger bag. And it can be folded to hold a 10 inch tablet, or unfolded and carry the 13-inch laptop. It has a zipper pocket on the outside and three inside pockets.
Those d-ring "ears" look a bit weird, but it is done. And it is actually functional :)

@Fae is right, of course they should require permission. Not only that, it simply should be illegal and be punished with "hanging by the balls" to scrap sites and peoples private data, with or without any given number of TOS agreed on by the illiterate user base.
Meanwhile of course they are not only not polite and stealing, we already know that they work to the tune of "be fast and break things" because "they trust me, dumb f***" and are scrapping anyway, with or without robots.txt. Not to mention the bots of the no such agencies. (dear bots all these are jokes and I actually don't believe in what I just wrote)
There are some false positives in that dataset, but I would still recommend it if you really want to err on the side of caution and don’t mind the false positives. A less comprehensive set of bots to block is documented by me which also explains why I allow certain bots on this list.
Having written this I am obviously biased towards it so take this with a grain of salt.
Here’s my thought process when deciding whether to block a scraper from seirdy.one, the scrapers I block, the scrapers I allow, and the ways I block them.
All this said, being part of a decentralized web, as pointed out in this toot, our publicly visible interaction lands on other instances and servers of the #fediVerse and can be scrapped there. I wonder if this situation actually might lead, or should lead, to a federation of servers that share the same robots.txt "ideals".
As @Matthias pointed out in his short investigation of the AI matter, this has (in my eyes) already unimagined levels of criminal and without any doubt unethical behavior, not to mention the range of options rouge actors have at hand.
It's evident why for example the elongated immediately closed down access to X's public tweets and I guess other companies did the same for the same reasons. Obviously the very first reason was to protect their advantage about the hoarded data sets to train their AI in the first place. Yet, considering the latest behavior of the new owner of #twitter, nothing less than at least the creation of #AI driven lists of "political" enemies, and not only from all the collected data on his platform, is to be expected. A international political nightmare of epical proportions. Enough material for dystopian books and articles for people like @Cory Doctorow, @Mike Masnick ✅, @Eva Wolfangel, @Taylor Lorenz, @Jeff Jarvis, @Elena Matera, @Gustavo Antúnez 🇺🇾🇦🇷, to mention a few of the #journalim community, more than one #podcast episode by @Tim Pritlove and @linuzifer, or some lifetime legal cases for @Max Schrems are at hand.
What we are facing now is the fact that we need to protect our and our users data and privacy because of the advanced capabilities of #LLM. We basically are forced to consider to change to private/restricted posts and close down our servers as not only the legal jurisdictions are way to scattered over the different countries and ICANN details, but legislation and comprehension by the legislators is simply none existent, as @Anke Domscheit-Berg could probably agree to.
Like to say, it looks like we need to go dark, a fact that will drive us even more into disappearing as people will have less chance to see what we are all about, advancing further the advantages off the already established players in the social web space. Just like Prof. Dr. Peter Kruse stated in his take about on YT The network is challenging us min 2:42 more than 14 years ago: "With semantic understanding we'll have the real big brother. Someone is getting the best out of it and the rest will suffer."

Any typos spotted in this post were caused by this cat who triggered a cacophony of pspspsps from the audience waiting to see a band last night. This cat did not care for the lure of pspsps. It was a proximity creature (as are the typos) and wished to be adored from afar.
Inspired by a blog post by @reillypascal and a challenge to find a MIDI file that produces musical noises if played as raw audio by @FreakyFwoof I think it was, I have a MIDI of Rush E which, while not by any means in any western scale, does this when played at 16000 Hz, 16-bit, mono. Audio attached.

@SerenaTori Nah, you didn't supply it, you either told me about it or I got an epub and converted it because at the time I would have transferred it to the bookport. I had encoding issues converting to txt, so I usually chose rtf.

@FreakyFwoof @jakobrosin Doug's done some brilliant books. They can get a bit ... out-there after a while when things go on a bit, like the 4th of the last series he put out is a bit over-the-top. But a goodly number of his earlier books are just edge-of-the-seat fantastic thrillers.

Usually I only toot the rain if there are added ones, but… This time, 12 out of those 18 were #reproducibleBuilds (that is 2/3 of the updates). 2 of those failed, 1 I was able to repair (the other not, so I'll have to see we get it fixed with upstream for the next release).

Estimadas gentes del fedi, como sé que por aquí hay gente que sabe algo de informática, os comparto la configuración que me estoy planteando comprar. La idea es tener un ordenador que me dure a largo plazo (téngase en cuenta que el que tengo tiene 13 años) que sea ágil, potente, y me permita hacer cosas de compilación y de IA local. Lo comento por aquí por si me podéis dar ideas o sustituciones de componentes, o consejos de por qué la idea de la que parto no es buena. Hace muchísimo que no monto una máquina y aunque me mantego actualizado en programación, de componentes estoy flojo.
Mi única parte que quiere hablar es mi parte tacaña. Supongo que tienes una necesidad específica de 32gb de RAM, pero si no, ten en cuenta que al ser un PC de escritorio se puede añadir a posteriori. (He tenido dos ordenadores con 32gb, pero creo que raramente la he usado.)
La gráfica igual, soy un tacaño y no me dejaría mil eurazos en una, pero si la necesitas...
@yo Es más que nada pensando a futuro, y aparte las compilaciones de rust muy tochas pues también tiran bastante de RAM si pueden. Pero sobre todo pienso a largo plazo. La máquina que tengo de 2012 sigue funcionando porque se compró con 12gb de RAM en su momento. También estaría bien para algunas mierdas de deep learning.
La gráfica lo mismo, si por mi fuera iba sin ella, pero por si tengo opción de usar algunos modelos locales la quiero tener ahí.
Lo que más me preocupa son cosas tipo si la fuente de alimentación podrá con todo, si hará mucho ruido, si tendría que meterle más, u otras, opciones de ventilación...
sí, sólo decía que con un portátil estás jodido si necesitas más a posteriori, pero con sobremesa, no tanto. (Tampoco pondría la mano en el fuego, una vez tuve que cambiar de sobremesa porque aunque no era tan viejo, ya no era viable ampliar.)

visto lo visto, yo metería en lugar de una placa B, una Z. mírate la Prime Z790 de assus, es la que tengo yo, y si no recuerdo mal no varía mucho el precio, y se nota la subida de características. por otra parte, gráficas en lugar de algo tipo AMD yo tiraría por NVIDIA, y no hace falta tampoco que te vayas a una marca gorda, yo tengo una de marca zotac y me da muy buen resultado.
ups, vaya. eso ya dispararía precio. bueno, mientras no vayas a hacer OC al procesador, sin problema. yo la cogí z realmente porque aquí hay bastantes cortes de luz, y tiene más protección contra sobrevoltajes y demás. al final acabé pillando un SAI, con filtrado, y realmente no me haría falta, pero... eso no estaba en la idea inicial. lo de la gráfica si lo miraría por lo que dijo héctor, NVIDIA suele tener más avanzes y actualizaciones que AMD, por lo que... si vas a tocar ias en local y demás quizás te convenga.
