I’ve used it as my primary file system for years now. It’s been great overall. I have had some data loss in the past when using with raid 5 or 6, and that’s typically where the dangers lie with it still. (Most of the data was recoverable but it was a pain.)
My current btrfs setup is a span across 3 hardware raids, so it’s more like lvm but I can add or remove as needed, and don’t have to worry about the raid5/6 issues.

Got laid off today. If you're looking for someone who knows imaging, static analysis, and compiler design in depth and a wide variety of other things HMU. Resume is here: docs.google.com/document/d/1Hg…

Welcome Neil Johari as #curl commit author 1333: github.com/curl/curl/pull/1602…
#curl

Just added a few hours ago, and there we go:

Welcome to the RB family, OSS-Dict 🥳

apt.izzysoft.de/packages/com.a…

OSS-Dict is an offline dictionary reader. It is fork of Aard 2 with new Material design and updated features.

Thanks to some helpful hints (and hands) from its dev, farfromrefuge, the green shield is now up :awesome:

RB status: 415 apps (33.7%) and counting!

US senators today received an affidavit from the former sister-in-law of defense secretary nominee Pete Hegseth in which she says his behavior caused his second wife to fear for her safety.

I recently bought an LG TV and was happy to discover that it had a screen reader that even automatically began at startup! This video goes over the different accessibility features and my experience setting it up.

There's a "Signal deanonymized" thing going around:
gist.github.com/hackermondev/4…

Stay calm. Deep breaths.

👉 while this is a real consideration, the only thing the attacker gets from this is a very rough (kilometers or tens of kilometers radius) location

👉 other communication platforms that use any kind of caching CDN to deliver attachments are just as affected

👉 you almost certainly should continue to use Signal, unless you specifically know that this is a big problem for you.

Hey Fedora users, tired of Fedora Flatpaks? Yes? There's an issue about deprioritizing Fedora Flatpaks in GNOME Software if anybody is interested: pagure.io/fedora-workstation/i…

#Fedora #Flatpak #Flatpaks #GNOME #Flathub

Fascists are going to need technology to succeed.

And we know more about that than they do.

Put dipsticks in your code.

My mother-in-law set up the #Nextcloud app to back up photos from her #Android phone. However, no photos were uploaded. I thought she did something wrong, but in fact it was set up correctly, including all permissions. But nothing was even queued for upload. I couldn't make it work either.

I got a recommendation for #FolderSync, but it's freemium and it felt fishy with all the data consent dialogs. Then I went to #FDroid and discovered #RoundSync and wow, it's a great piece of software, clean, lean and does reliably what I want it to do. The sad fact is that @newhinton, app developer, gets 3€/month for it on Liberapay. We really need to get more money into open source apps.

This is really mortifying, given the rate Pixelfed is growing at. I guess this is what happens when you don't foster contributions and split your time between a dozen projects.

And now, your #AndroidAppRain at apt.izzysoft.de/fdroid with 12 updated and 1 added apps:

* OSS-Dict: an offline dictionary reader (fork of Aard 2 with new Material design and updated features)

Oh, and 1 updated #Magisk module at apt.izzysoft.de/magisk

Enjoy your #free #Android #apps with the #IzzyOnDroid repo :awesome:

Welcome to the RB family, File Navigator 🥳

apt.izzysoft.de/packages/com.w…

File Navigator wants to be Your Ultimate File Sorting Solution.

I've no idea what its author did, as I never received an answer to my issue – but finally we could successfully build the app and then also make it reproducible :awesome:

So RB status now: 414 apps (33.6%)

(we don't expect another egg soon, but hope to reach 40% when people roll them in spring 😜)

#reproducibleBuilds #IzzyOnDroid

#ADHD folks & #minimalism fans with overflowing #email inboxes (or some #GNOME devs with too many mailing lists & bug tracker emails) might be pleased to discover that @EvolutionGnome has a secret gsetting (that you can toggle in dconf-editor) to disable unread mail counts for folders in the sidebar: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evoluti…

Because what's the point of knowing you have 787 unread emails instead of 785, anyway? :patcat:

Wish I had per-folder notifications to go with that: gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evoluti…

Deleting #Facebook is intentionally difficult; those wanting to delete will find that they are led through a maze of menu options. This webpage has a link that will take you directly to the deletion page if you are logged into your Facebook account on a PC. Perhaps the best thing you can do is post this link to your Facebook account a week before deleting it to help others learn about this fast and easy shortcut.

How do grammatical errors and spelling mistakes indicate that the orders were produced using Chat GPT?

Language models don't usually make these.

Extremely blant writing, repetitive sentence and paragraph structure, and frequent use of idioms that are characteristic of English as it is spoken in many African countries? Yeah, that's Chat GPT. Not obvious spelling and grammatical errors though.

To me, this feels more like sloppy humans with extremely tight deadlines, and somebody with an agenda against AI trying to manufacture outrage.

Personally, I don’t think the impact of the "which Cloudflare server is this Signal user closest to" attack is that bad. However, it highlights yet another quirky side effect of #Signal being built on cloud infrastructure.

Odebírám třeba ještě Respekt a tam jakoukoliv takovou změnu v editorialu vysvětlují.

Rozhodl jsem se ty videa slepit dohromady, za 2-3 dny ať to má alespoň 5 min.

Tohle jsou 3 dny z Albarracín- Santa Cruz de Moya- Chullila- Valencia.
