A small post about the upcoming support for native Apple SecTrust in curl 8.17.0.

Today we merged a new feature in curl: support for Apple SecTrust. This will become available in curl 8.17.0, due to be released on the 5th of November 2025.icing's blog
tl;dr - I made a tool to look up WCAG SCs and copy the links. As anyone who has spent more than 30 minutes with me where the conversation might veer towards anything technical, I am an über-bore where it comes to the Mac app Keyboard Maestro (KM).Lloydi (A11y Tools)
Friday.
We've spent days in hospital and the poor wife's had a lot of things going on, but not the things she wants to have going on. Baby is still firmly ensconced.
The house is coming together well though. The first of the sofas appeared yesterday, we put the curtains up this morning and the carpets are all down and lovely underfoot. The window sills have all been painted and varnished, the French doors are sealed and watertight (a good thing with a storm blowing in), and I've just finished re-seating all the electrical wall outlets and light switches now the paint's all dry.
The baby's changing unit remains to be assembled, but the crib and car seat are ready. We just need a baby now.
Daily CTG's are strong. Baby's moving well internally. Things just, have yet to go pop!

Hi everyone, an exciting announcement today - we've released our first 64-bit alpha build, which ALSO includes on-device AI image captioning. For the full details and the caveats - please see this post in the NVDA user group: groups.google.com/a/nvaccess.o…
(Also, in response to a couple of questions:
- The keystroke for image captioning is NVDA+Windows+comma
- And yes, you can setup the new alpha as a portable copy rather than installing it).

🇩🇪 Today we celebrate #GermanUnityDay – a victory over oppression & mass surveillance.
But history warns us: #ChatControl could bring surveillance back at a scale East Germany could only have dreamed of. It's like putting a spy in every phone with AI as judge.
Let’s defend freedom & say NO to #ChatControl! ✊

The division of Germany was accompanied by mass surveillance in East Germany and the suppression of the opposition. This should serve as a lesson to us as to why Chat Control must never be allowed.Tuta

#StroongeCast E01: Will You Peel My Orange? youtu.be/XeVO8pTfrK8
We know there are so many podcasts, so why another one?
Well, partly because we can but partly because we hope to be interesting and thoughtful, if at all possible.
In this first episode we discuss one annoying Tiktok trend of asking your significant other to 'peel an orange' and what this actually means.
We also discuss hugging, tactility and our joy of listening to other podcasts.

Gumtree for our American listeners could be considered to be a bit like your Craigs list perhaps.

In this episode, Kirsten has a collection of husband and wife-related trivia to read to us, and Andre will react to them. He hasn't been prepped ahead of time, so doesn't know what's coming.
Many of these statements are incredibly bizarre and would certainly make for some unusual talking-points around the dinner-table with your partner.

#StroongeCast E07: Jake And Alice youtu.be/Xcckya9tKKs
In this episode we thought we'd bring the kids in for a bit of a chat.
As a blind dad, Andre's had the question several times of 'what's it like to be guided by your son? What do you get up to?'
Jake is very much like his dad, and Alice is very much like her mum, so we say that each of them is a 'Mini Me.'
It works out very well, as we all have someone we can go places with and do fun activities with.
Of course we do go places together as a family, but more often than not, Jake is out with Andre and Alice is out with Kirsten, when such things do arise.
We'd like to do a follow-up episode with Jake and Alice soon, so if you have any questions for them, please let us know.

#StroongeCast E10: Pink Jobs And Blue Jobs
youtu.be/W6Z_Yayyrj8
In this episode we discuss the idea behind 'Pink Jobs' and 'Blue Jobs' with regards their so-called 'traditional' roles in the household.
Blue jobs are traditionally male-centric and Pink jobs are traditionally female-centric in-nature.
Being modern twenty-first-century humans we don't really believe in these designations, but we thought it would be interesting to discuss them anyway.
We're curious what you think about them yourselves.
How do you designate jobs in your house?
If you're living alone ,are all jobs pink and blue?
If you live in a same-sex household, are all jobs one colour?
Of course these aren't at all meant to be taken seriously and we're not here to cause offence, merely to have a little bit of fun with a quite outdated topic.

#StroongeCast E11: For The Love Of School youtu.be/taDcYc_8jzE

Andre attended a specialist boarding school for 8 years, where as Kirsten attended an all-girl school. As a result, their memories are very different from one another and there are few common or shared experiences.
From Kirsten's trip to Russia and having to open her suspicious-looking suitcase in the airport which was taped together, to Andre's experience of being left stranded in Reading train station for hours, and having to get a cab to school, this episode is quite a long one.

#StroongeCast E19: Double-Standards
youtu.be/wp59KyTUxlk
In this episode we give you the answer to last episode's question, leave you with another, and then discuss the idea of double-standards.
Saying to a man 'Those trousers make your bum look saggy' is harsh, but is likely way more acceptable than saying that same thing to a woman.
'That t-shirt makes you look terrible, definitely want to change that' is equally passable in one direction but not the other.
In our case we simply don't have the need to speak to one another in this fashion to begin with, but many seemingly do.
Our particular double-standards come from raising both a boy and a girl.
We allowed our son to go off by himself earlier with less fear and concern as parents, but not so with our daughter.
Are you parents with children of a similar age to one another?
Do you worry about them going off on their own?
Do you treat them differently, sometimes without realising it?

If you have an unusual public transport story of your own, please share with us.
For next week's episode we're also looking for your stroonge animal encounters, be they scary, funny, completely mind-boggling or anything else in-between.

#StroongeCast E39: Is It Just Us? youtu.be/ULu-w78LIyA
In this episode we discuss how difficult it is for Kirsten and Andre to call each other by name when addressing one another directly. Apparently it isn't just us either, but we haven't found a name for this particular phenomenon. When on the phone to friends or family, it seems perfectly normal to do so. We only realised we had this strange problem almost 18 years into our relationship, so we started to research it.
We also try to work out why both our TikTok accounts have seemingly been banned from the platform permanently, which is a discovery we made when we woke up this morning.

We also talk about the difference in heat between places like the UK and the Caribbean, and the fact that UK houses don't often have AC, so are harder to cool down during hot spells such as the one we're currently under.

#StroongeCast E42: Don't Treat Me Like A Princess youtu.be/7T1vZxQc9QE
In this episode Kirsten delves into an article in which a woman expects princess treatment from her husband in restaurants or whenever they're out together as a couple.
From ordering her food, to tying her shoelaces, nothing is seemingly off the table.
Our opinion is that this behaviour somewhat infantalises a person, and allows them to avoid adult responsibilities in these situations.
The couple have children as well, so if this is also continued in the home, it becomes normalised and thus the children may expect it from their partners when older.

#StroongeCast E43: Why Are You So Jealous? youtu.be/nekGM37YgJs
In this episode Kirsten explains an article she found in which a woman suffers from severe jealousy due to a medical condition known as Othello Syndrome. We discuss what would cause us to be jealous in our relationship, explain reasons why it doesn't really apply, but also how it may become a problem if the right conditions were ever reached.
Some information from the article:
The idea of the lie detector test came after Steve made a passing comment about not having done anything wrong, and would "even take a lie detector to prove it," which spurred his wife to make a purchase. This happened right at the beginning of their relationship, when they lived very far away from each other.

#StroongeCast E44: Communication Is Key: youtu.be/4XwWBOrg9zM
In this episode we discuss the merits of proper communication in a relationship and how stressful it can sometimes be to make your thoughts understood without offending your partner.
Ed tells us about some of the holidays he's been on which caused him to feel claustrophobic and stifled when he'd just like to sit down with a good book and relax, whilst Andre and Kirsten explain the difficulties they had aboard a cruise ship for their tenth wedding anniversary, and how they failed to talk things out properly. Six years has allowed them to look back over that holiday and talk things out better for next time.

#StroongeCast E52: For Example... youtu.be/SkSO3Bb57mc
In this episode we discuss ways in which we as parents do our best to set good examples for our children. From not swearing or arguing, to behaving kindly to one another, we think that good manners cost nothing but a little time.
Kirsten was on a bus and noticed an angry woman swearing at the bus driver in front of her teen-age sun which sparked this episode. For one thing it's bad manners and for another, it sets a terrible example for that child.
By doing so, the mother normalises that behaviour and it may make the child think that it's also okay to do the same things under the same circumstances.

He feels emasculated, and demands that his now x-girlfriend not go out in heels as it makes her taller than he is.
Kirsten and Andre both decided this is a red flag and partners should not attempt to control what the other is wearing unless there is a compelling reason to do so, such as Andre going out in mismatched clothing by mistake, since he cannot see what colours are likely to clash with one another.

In this episode we talk about the fact that it's our one-year anniversary of the podcast, how we think it's gone so far, some of the things we may cover in the future, and how Kirsten has grown in confidence over the last year.
There was a time when she'd have refused to be on mic at all, but doing this weekly has made it easier for her to talk to you.
We also touch on the audio quality of some of our favourite podcasts and how some of them unfortunately fall flat, which is surprising, given the budget that some have access to.
Lastly, a new, personalised birthday greeting should you want it. We're starting up a short audio segment called 'Stroonge Cards' which is a personalised greeting from your friends over at StroongeCast that sounds similar to the podcast.
If you'd like such a greeting yourself, please get in-touch to tell us when your special day is, so we can record it for you.

Spatial synesthesia (sometimes called spatial sequence synesthesia or sequence–space synesthesia) is a fascinating neurological phenomenon where a person experiences abstract concepts—like numbers, months, days, or years—as having specific spatial locations or arrangements in their mind’s eye.
Here’s a breakdown of what that means:
⸻
🧠 What It Is
In people with spatial synesthesia, sequences (like the months of the year or numbers from 1–100) aren’t just abstract—they appear in physical space. For example:
• Someone might “see” the months of the year arranged in an oval or horseshoe shape around them.
• The number line might stretch out from left to right, or wrap around their body in 3D space.
• Days of the week might have different positions—Monday might feel to the left, Saturday behind, Sunday above, and so on.
These aren’t literal hallucinations; rather, they’re consistent mental maps that the person can “see” or “feel” internally—like an overlay on reality or a vivid mental visualization.
⸻
🌈 Common Types of Spatial Synesthesia
• Number–Form Synesthesia: Numbers occupy fixed positions in space.
• Calendar Synesthesia: Days, months, or years have spatial layouts.
• Time–Space Synesthesia: Time feels like it moves around you in a specific shape or direction.
⸻
💡 Example
If you asked a person with calendar synesthesia where April is, they might instinctively gesture to their right and slightly downward. If you asked about August, they might point above and to the left. To them, that map is as real and stable as your sense of “up” and “down.”
⸻
🧬 Why It Happens
The exact cause isn’t fully understood, but researchers think it’s due to enhanced cross-wiring or cross-activation between areas of the brain that process spatial awareness and those that process sequences (like time or numbers). It often runs in families and can appear alongside other forms of synesthesia (like seeing colors for sounds or letters).
⸻
🧭 Interesting Effects
Many spatial synesthetes:
• Have an excellent memory for dates and sequences.
• Can mentally “zoom in” or “rotate” their time or number maps.
• Often don’t realize their perception is unusual until adulthood.
