💬 Fractal 8 Released: The Linux Matrix Messaging App Gets Better!

I was like “LOL gnome feels the same about Lunduke as I do!” and then they were dicks about it - upholding gnome’s reputation also, I suppose.

So what if some new member posts a link to Lunduke article not knowing about some unwritten rule
and they get banned? Yeah that’s rubbish. Write your rule down somewhere FFS. This will scare off new or unaware users.

Hell, until recently I wasn’t even aware that others disliked the guy as much as I do. The most info I got on him being disliked came from his own articles, which was amusingly helpful. :neocat_laugh:

Newsflash 3.3.3 (and .4)
This one is for all the Local RSS enjoyers out there:
- use etags to skip downloading unchanged feeds
- avoid writing unchanged RSS 2.0 feeds to disk (feed-rs fix)
- handle articles that are published by multiple feeds with the exact same GUID (e.g. planet gnome)

My MR which implements a new image mounting dialog for #GNOME Disks in #Rust has been merged 🎉

The new dialog allows not only to mount and view disk images, but also to edit, inspect, write or, if the disk image is already mounted, unmount it.

Thanks to @tbernard for the design and to @pothos for the review and help.

So thanks to @rmader@mastodon.social we managed to get the front camera in the Pixel 3a working with a libcamera/pipewire stack đŸ„ł Thanks to @flamingradian for the work on the whole port!

EDIT: The driver does not properly release the camera when closing the app, so it only works once per boot. It would be lovely if anybody with the skills would like to contribute to improve it!

GNOME Calendar users, rejoice!

After 7 months of pain and suffering, we finally reworked the event details popover, which will be available in GNOME 47!

The new event details popover builds on top of the existing UI/code, while adding a few improvements and behavioral changes:

  • The popover displays the changes-prevent (lock) icon when the event is read-only.
  • Each section is properly separated with separators, with equal amount of margins.
  • Location and Meetings section are mutually exclusive; only one is shown.
  • When an event has no event note, the popover will always explicitly display that there's no event description.
  • The action button adapts its icon and tooltip text depending on the event permission.

I'm not sure he is on the fediverse, but huge kudos to long time GNOME contributor Benjamin Berg for this. This is such an amazing gift that he has worked on for the last couple of years and it really levels up PyGObject. đŸ€© #Python #GNOME
