I’m moving away from Facebook and Instagram, as they no longer feel like the places where I want to spend my energy.
I’m a photographer working across film and digital — people, places and weddings — and I’d love to connect with others who care about analogue photography.
You know what really annoys my ears? Those screechy nasty-soundding speakers at the gates and in the airplanes. The frequencies they emit, esp. when people speak through them, are really touching my nerves. Donno why... :)
Not to mention 80% of pilots and copilots apparently have never been told how to use a microphone. Stop swallowing the microphone and popping every plosive under the sun. Also, the volumes they blast those speakers at should actually be against federal law. I want people arrested for blasting me with that much noise. It would be an OSHA violation elsewhere.

Jedem, dem ich auch nur davon erzähle, ist ab dem Punkt komplett überfordert, wenn es darum geht, dass man seinen Server frei wählen kann und ich komme nicht mal an den Punkt, wo man sich seinen Klienten selbst auswählen kann.
Aber heutzutage sind Menschen von ihrer Freiheit irgendwie komplett überfordert und das in vielen Gebieten.
Bin für jeden Tipp dankbar, weil ich möchte gerne mehr Menschen zu XMPP bringen.

What strikes me is the age old method of ostracism - practiced in ancient Athens, written about in plays like Lysistrata, and rendered into strong force by churches through the practice of excommunication.
We ought to perform civil excommunication on ICE agents - do not sell or rent products to them in stores, do not rent hotel rooms to them, do not fund them, treat them like modern day lepers. Businesses should make it clear that they will never be hired for a job. Do not adopt Jesus' policy of acceptance of them.
Spread their names so that we may cut them off from society.
To #blind #hamradio operators, a friend picked up a TH-D75A that he doesn't want. Having only worked with HT's running OpenGD77, are there any special advantages to this rig aside from the wideband receiver and D-STAR (which I don't really care about)? e.g. is APRS or the TNC of any use with things like Winlink?
Well, basically what you said. I don't have a TH-D75, I have the older TH-D74, and honestly I prefer using my TYT MD-UV380 most of the time. It has way better battery life, a better speaker, better TX audio... The TH-D75 is a little better in that respect.
There are no Winlink nodes close enough to me to easily get to with 5 watts, but I have the BLE converter board someone made for it so I can connect it to RadioMail on my iPhone if I ever need to.
I've used DSTAR on it maybe three times ever.
Dual receive is nice, but full duplex, especially for that money, would be even nicer, and it doesn't have that.
If you're in an area where the 1.25m band is at least attempting to be active, maybe that's an advantage.
@BorrisInABox We do have a 1.25M repeater in the area, and one machine that runs D-STAR exclusively (no idea how much it's used). APRS might be fun, assuming it's even accessible for us.
It's traditionally not really accessible the way it's generally used, but you can certainly decode packets and maybe do something fun with it. You can (very slowly) use APRSChat from the radio. No TTS, so it spells everything out, but it can be done.
I don't know how much better the receiver is on the TH-D75 than the TH-D74, but I found the one on the 74 to be not really all that great under 50 mHz. My Icom IC-R30 does a lot better.

None of those apps ever where at IzzyOnDroid; most of them are beyond our per-app size limit. Unfortunately, we cannot cover everything – and yes, I get the disappointment (and do not take it as "bashing" 😉)…
A basic repo you mean? I have some old guides how I started IzzyOnDroid about 10 years ago. I'd have something else in mind instead, but it's not ready yet for "prime time" (you could say it's still WIP)…

This is a repository of apps to be used with your F-Droid client. Applications in this repository are official binaries built by the original application developers, taken from their resp. repositories (mostly Github, GitLab, Codeberg).
PS: we had to roll back the Sefirah update, which was shortly visible, as it added several proprietary libraries (issue open and will hopefully be worked upon). Instead, the already pending DeJpeg update made it live…

*sigh* Hoopla's catalog system is broken. If I click on an audiobook narrator's link, only *some* of their titles appear, as an example. Same for authors. Unfortunately, Libby has a better catalog system but Hoopla has better audio quality. To fix this, download the Library Extension for your web browser and browse Audible. Just wanted to install an #XMPP client to create an account to test something. I moved away to #Matrix years ago because I had no hope anymore for #XMPP, but now that I wanted to create an account, I am just shocked at how dead it is: #Fedora still has Gajim 1.7.3, when the last release is 2.4.1. #pkgsrc is a bit but noch much better with 2.1.1. #Tkabber is even worse: pkgsrc has 0.11.1, when 1.1.2 is the latest release that was released in 2015(!). It seems distributions keep XMPP clients around, but don’t update them because nobody is using them anymore. I had not expected for XMPP to be that dead. That’s shocking.
I also think if distributions cannot be bothered to update a package in over 10 years, they should just remove it…
The situation of @gajim in Fedora repositories is sad, but @dino is up to date there. flatpak is also an option to get the latest gajim, or run from source. I actually use a fedora laptop for work, maybe some day I'll look into what's missing for gajim to be up-to-date in fedora again...

Hi all. So, we are back at square one. Magnesium cream has now decided to stop working. Sleep meds don't let me sleep. I'm just trying to get through as best I can, thanks to the amazingly kind people who asked how I'm really doing. It's looking like I might have to go into a hospice for a few days to see if they can stabilize me. Ho hum, I'll just look it in the teeth and dare it to kick me! Lol!
While they promise new airports, here is the infrastructure they already gave us: 10,000+ rusting oil drums at Bluie East Two. Left for 80 years. Leaking into the soil. Who pays for the cleanup? NOT THE USA.
