The bit about SD cards being slow at random reads is interesting. Lately I've been mulling over an idea for Raspberry Pi-like computers, where you use an initramfs as your root FS, have some kind of process for rebuilding it with new packages, and only selectively write to the SD card the things that you really need to be durable. Haven't really fleshed it out yet, though.
@matt That's an interesting idea! Perhaps a base image on squashfs or something that gets copied to zram on boot, and then overlayfs/aufs/etc to capture changes above it. The problem there may be the limited RAM of the Pis though.
That's a valid point about limited RAM. Of course, there are Pis these days with more RAM, so depending on how big the root FS is, it might not be practically an issue. On early personal computers we used to load the OS and current application fully into RAM up-front, especially so we could swap the floppy in our one floppy drive.

The proposals as stated have been requiring providers of e2ee messaging to do the backdoors, which would basically mean the corporate shit platforms get backdoored and the real stuff first fights then ignores the law if they don't win, and possibly gets removed from app stores, relegated to sideloading.
Nobody wants to be the party doing the backdooring. Apple is not going to step up to do it at the OS level, and ruin their reputation, when they can say "the regulation puts the burden on chat providers, not us" (except iMessage which they'd probably backdoor).

Question to talk back users. I have a pixel 9a for testing, and I'm encountering something weird. Half the time, when I double tap, it doesn't register my inputs. It also happens with other gestures, but not as often. Is there a setting I need to adjust? Something I'm doing wrong? Yep, and idk about where you are but here often when your card is replaced only the last 4 changes, maybe the last 8, the first 8 of mine have been the same for 20+ years.
I don't have my cards memorized, but I keep the numbers saved in my password manager. Also, the bank I work for here in the US offers braille debit cards.
Just write it down in your PW Manager and you're good. Or in a Veracrypt container, or on braille, or what do I know. And yeah if you wanted you could probably memorise too, but me to lazy.
OK its one thing to not like things repeated on your timeline, but its another thing for moderation to step in and start complaining about the now playing posts being public and thus on the local timeline, like come the hell on people, lists exist on Mastodon, and surely Mastodon has some sort of thing where you can filter stuff from local timeline without posts being unlisted, like come the actual fuck on! that's the cool thing about a mastodon server, it has its own rules. Filling up a public timeline with automated stuff probably goes against quite a few. But if you have the resources to set up a radio station, you can spin up a gotosocial or something. or just post unlisted. Only your followers are going to care anyway, surely? I keep seeing your dj's repost the automated stuff regardless.
@cachondo Yeah I went in and edited the thing to post unlisted, if only there was a way to set visibility for specifics like now playing as unlisted, and connection status to public, as Monty once said, the posts saying this person has started the stream, and also when they finish, or get disconnected, is a useful way to tell if technical issues are happening.
I mean mastodon really isn't the tool for your emergency uptime notifications, if you're on-air. Not my cup of tea, I'm afraid; I heard 30 seconds of one of your streams and it just sounded like a bunch of people on teamtalk. But glad your all enjoying yourselves.
@cachondo Yeah we split things between music shows and what essencially is talk shows, the Coffee Pot is mostly just chatting and having fun, with the odd music session here and there, then after that, we sometimes have Matt's Classic Rock Block, and last night at like near midnight, Chloe did a hit music show, she had some issues with her laptop, which is why shit had to be restarted, but then things went well after that.
so with my new media player iOS app, you can now use the add content menu to add internet streams and it will play the live stream, disabling effects and speed and other such stuff. You also get volume control so you can listen to a song quietly while talking on whatsApp. I also added mp3/m4b/whatever chapter support and a bunch of other stuff.
Hey, a funky idea that perhaps interests nobody but yours truly: could you add a feature that routes the audio to the earpiece? I used this a couple of times with an Android app when I forgot my headphones and wanted to listen to my stuff on my way home.
The idea is to have a safe way of listening to something in public in case you forgot everything external or it's out of battery. I would use this for spoken content mostly, not really music.

This is not even "450m Europeans." This is basically "the world." When encryption is broken on that side and uploaded to their servers it means people on the other side also have no encryption and their data is just as compromised. For the third time in as many months, some agency is offering me a .com version of the domain I use for personal email because it might "be relevant for my personal or business use". Daughter's gone off to school most cheerful and isn't back until tomorrow for it is sleeping over at a friend's home. Is anyone else noticing the AI music popping up on Spotify and other streaming platforms? I’ll be fucking pissed if my very personal lyrics are stolen from Suno and uploaded without my permission. I’d put them up under my own name, but I have my own album on Spotify, so I can’t do that. And, technically, only the lyrics are mine. The instrumentation and melodies are not always mine. Some of them are, some of them aren’t.

I get this question fairly often. How would the projects I run manage if I took off? And really, the primary project people think of then is of course curl.
Most commands have an `-O, --output` option to format the output. By default, the output is pretty formatted for humans, but you can output in JSON, XML, or other formats.
With `template` output you can use Jinja templates, either built-in ones (the ones used in the web frontend), or your own; useful to build static HTML pages/sites, or reformat the data the way you want.
Finally, tonight I got the notification that Meta AI is available for my glasses. It feels like I just gained a new pair of glasses with fancy new features, although the glasses are the same. Anyways, I will be wearing them a lot more now I suppose.
BUT: can we remove the default prefix "Copy of" or make it user configurable, please.
