The biggest area that do needs improvements before I'd recommend actually using it in practice would be in terms of error handling. It's currently not very graceful about handling invalid task definitions or mistaken command-line invocations, which is less than helpful.
But again, this is a ~six hour effort. I plan on making it more useful, but I needed to get something off the ground to unblock other projects for now.
If you are brave and do want to give Do a try in your own projects, it is *by design* a single long file that you can copy and paste into your own projects. That's not the most elegant way of doing things (heh), but it does mean you can easily vendor it in when bootstrapping would otherwise be a problem.
You can also use `do` as a development dependency, so `pdm run do` should work. Lots of ways of running it, depending on what your project needs.

TWBlue just got quoted post support, at least for reading them. Tweesecake can't handle quoted posts, and lacks other features the new TWBlue update announced, like scheduling. Has anyone used both? I tried TWBlue, but didn't stay with it, and went with Tweesecake instead. I don't remember why.
I tried both, ended up going with TW Blue. There was a while when there was a serious bug that didn't let it open a window with a toot if it had utf-8 stuff in it. But that was sorted out for a while. I think TW Blue is quite ok.
So far, so good, with the main UI. I'm not sure the invisible interface is working, though. Do you plan to keep this open-source? If so, I may see about a pull request to add other session types.
just be warned this is not a TC replacement, and thus I probably wouldn't accept session types that aren't social media, as the app design doesn't really allow for that anyway really.

Can you, possibly make this thing use Uv? Like not really a developer here but I think that's what a lot of Python projects use now and its easier I think to just do an uv sync then run, LOL.
This is basically using an oldschool requirements.txt file and Pip. There have been multiple strides forwarding in Python packaging in recent years with tools like PDM, Poetry, and Uv that centralise management of project metadata, dependencies, an actual lock file for pinning dependencies to specific versions, creation and activation of a virtual environment, etc.
Not that the current approach doesn't work, but those newer tools can make for a more convenient developer experience (albeit with an initial cost of learning how they work). @johann

@Bri @johann One of the things I want with this is dark mode support, I might be able to pull it off somehow, oh and also the timeline list isn't even visible on screen, only the timeline contents. Gonna try and get those fixed when I can, so expect a pull request at some point, not now as I need to get to bed, but what I will do is create the fork and get that cloned to my computer ready to go.

I have the Echovisions and they're making lots of rapid updates at the moment but the hardware is a bit disappointing and I don't think they're going to be able to keep up as far as that goes, especially when Google raises the bar with their new hardware. The glasses plastic feels cheap and the camera doesn't do well with small print, (big downside,) or even slightly poorly lit areas. They say it's a software issue and I'm no camera expert, but I'm beginning to not fully believe that.

Komisia navrhuje novú operáciu makrofinančnej pomoci (MFA) vo výške až 500 miliónov EUR vo forme úverov , ktorá doplní predchádzajúcu MFA vo výške 500 miliónov EUR.
Táto nová makrofinančná pomoc je určená na riešenie naliehavých hospodárskych výziev vrátane vysokého verejného dlhu, štrukturálne zvýšeného rozpočtového deficitu (5,6 % HDP v roku 2024, čo predstavuje nárast v porovnaní s rokom 2023) a pretrvávajúcich externých deficitov (v priemere okolo 6,5 % HDP za posledných päť rokov). Jej cieľom je tiež zmierniť fiškálne obmedzenia zhoršené nedávnymi krízami, ako je pandémia COVID-19 a regionálna nestabilita.
Politické a ekonomické podmienky potrebné na udelenie navrhovanej makrofinančnej pomoci sú splnené, čo potvrdzuje aj hodnotenie súčasnej situácie Jordánska zo strany Komisie. Úver bude poskytnutý v rámci záruky pre vonkajšiu činnosť s dotáciou vo výške 9 %, čo predstavuje 45 miliónov EUR, ktoré sa majú naprogramovať v rámci nástroja NDICI - Globálna Európa. I only got 256, haven't had to use it yet, internal is 256 and even with MK1 at 40+ GB, and Mario Cart World at 21, still have enough room. 256 is fine.

It took an age to compile, but so long as you don't rearrange your tiles which you can do, you should be able to load up those games independently as a blind person as well, that's why they're listed in the order they are.

Hey @bagder, there are currently some discussions about open source licensing and post open source. If you could magically change curl's license (also for all existing version & distributions and with no other changes to reality), would you pick a different one?
I'm generally pretty satisfied with the curl license. I mean, I wanted maximum distribution and impact and I reached that. It may not be the best license to monetize my work with, but that was not my goal back then. I suspect a part of curl's ability to conquer the world was thanks to the license.

Mantis Q40 question: when using the onboard applications, I can switch between QWERTY and #braille input by pressing F12. Is there a way to achieve the same thing while connected to an external device in terminal mode?
In other words: I want to use the FDS and JKL keys as simulated Perkins-style input while connected to NVDA, VoiceOver, etc. without using any software-based simulation features built into the #screenReader itself.
I can tell you what *doesn't* work. I thought you could use the FN+F3 pass through, do F12, turn off the pass through and be in business. Seems you cannot. This is unfortunate. Was hoping to check out the Braille Access feature on the iPhone but as far as I can tell there's not a way to invoke that from a qwerty keyboard.
On January 6th my idea paper got accepted for the Web 2026 conference. Now i'm basically registering my first conference entry, booking flights from and to Valencia and a place to stay for a week. I'm afraid of flying and am generally overwhelmed with all the things that need to be done. I also have to pay everything first before getting it paid back afterwards, but man, it isn't exactly cheap either. Kinda locked in decision paralysis right now, not gonna lie.

Alright. It's 4 in the morning, 3 hours before work, what am I doing? Bug reports came through that SoftVoice will not read Mastodon posts. Turns out we need to do the character splitting in the wrapper. Re-download eurpod.com/softvoice-2025.nvda…. Alternatively, if you have a cached copy, use eurpod.com/softvoice-2025-v07.… for a clean one. This copy fixes it so we do split into 350-character chunks at the wrapper side. In my testing this reads all Mastodon posts to expectation now, as these can often throw the entire post's chunk onto the engine.

So I am contemplating possibly moving to Connecticut for a fresh start. I live in Boston currently, and don’t get me wrong. Boston has great resources for the blind and visually impaired community as well as other communities for different disabilities. As much as I like Boston and I love my current location, after all, I’m two bucks from Fenway Park, I’m just not happy here. So I have decided to look into possibly moving to Connecticut. If anyone knows of any resources I can grab a hold of as far as planning a move to Connecticut goes that would be great. The two main things I need to do right now are find a place to live, and I’m looking at getting involved with the American council for the blind in the state of Connecticut, I know they have a chapter somewhere. Derzeit wird Threema an Comitis verkauft - auch ein Private Equity Unternehmen, genau wie Afinum damals. Wenn's also nur um den Verkauf geht, gibt es erstmal eigentlich keinen Grund zur Panik.
Aber: Es ist eine Änderung. Auf jeden Fall gilt es, das kritisch zu betrachten und zu beobachten. Auf jeden Fall sollte laut geschrien werden, sobald Enshittification stattfindet! Bitte, macht das! Und ich wäre mit Sicherheit unter den ersten Personen, die aus Protest gehen würden, sollte Threema mal die eigenen Werte aufgeben.
Aber warum diese Aufregung jetzt, weil Threema gerade von Private Equity A an Private Equity B verkauft? Das verstehe ich nicht.

How many credible reports from that source? If the ratio is too bad, I would consider to simply ignore reports from trash sources. Not worth the effort.

Went on a TV talk show with my wife, to talk about accessibility and inclusive design. Definitely mentioned various assistive technologies along the way. So far, I'm already receiving emails with mp3 files in them, because "this makes it more interesting for you not to listen to the robotic voice all the time." Maybe I should've explained bit better than screen readers allow me to read emails ca 700 words per minute, and skip over rambling texts...
Explaining a screen reader is not a software to turn text documents into mp3's has become a fixed part of any 101 introduction to the subject I do since a professor asked me this exact question. Somehow it doesn't seem to be necessary wherever I preach these days. Are those actual voice messages from the senders or TTS/AI generated ones?
@Piciok This reminds me of the conversation I had with the director of my Regional Examination Commission, basically the organization which handles the day-to-day of running the government-mandated final exams (think GCSEs / A-Levels) here.
She didn't understand the difference between an audio CD and a CD ROM with a PDF (or Word) file on it that a screen reader would read. She also thought that a screen reader is a program that connects me over video call to a real person who reads text from paper documents that I place in front of my camera.
This was the only time in my life where I wanted to take the phone and throw it at the wall.
This was during my middle school days, my high school fortunately managed to shield me from all this madness.
The commission for that particular region is... well... known for being utterly incompetent, obstreperous, objecting to basically everything as a matter of principle, and generally being a pain in the ass for anybody who is unfortunate enough to live in their jurisdiction.
@miki A related story: there was a national project coordinated among a couple of schools for the blind in Poland which, to cut long story short, was aiming at preparing us for the FCE Cambridge examination. The commission in our city objected against us taking the reading comprehension part on our computers as the use of text-to-speech would turn it into listening comprehension. Ehhh...
@Piciok Which makes me wonder whether blind schools in other countries teach that. I've never heard of it being taught here. Most English textbooks don't even use the English punctuation signs.
@miki Definitely a problem at mine. I was the one campaigning for it being taught and ended up figuring basics by myself when I had a bit of spare time and trying to explain what I knew to my teachers.

As in, it's so, so weird to me that those in charge of examines and such for education don't even understand the most basic disability and assistive technology concepts. Like, your in charge of examines for education. So, your presumably a part of your equivalent of the department of education. And you don't know what a screen reader is? Really?
@draeand @Piciok We basically don't use computers in schools here, so that's probably why. This stuff almost never comes up.
By law, if you have the requisite documents, you're automtically entitled to a braille copy of the exam. Your school just files the required paperwork and that gets done as a matter of course. Anything else requires going through an administrative process and explicit approval. Usually, "the student is using this in class and so that's the workflow they're accustomed to" is a good enough reason to get approved, but you still need to go through the non-standard process.
@draeand @miki In my case it was the British Council, one of its Polish offices, this was also over a decade ago. Sometimes even with large, multinational organizations the awareness is not spread equally so I wasn't entirely surprised. We were something of forerunners and the requests I have been seeing in the community regarding the accessibility of these examinations suggest that it pretty much stopped with that project.
That's kind of nice. I remember hearing about people attaching small voice files to their emails by way of a signature on some Polish mailing lists. This was pre Messengers generally offering voice messages era. Gives a touch of personality to an otherwise cold medium that is text.
