A week ago, my employer filed for bankruptcy: electrive.net/2025/02/25/jucr-…

There is a chance that the company might continue the same work under a different new name but I can't afford to wait for that. So I'm forced to start looking for my next job.

If you or anyone you know is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on projects involving Rust, please let me know. 🙏 My CV: github.com/zeenix/

Also, boosts appreciated!

Khronos reshared this.

First, they shut down the Basic HTML site, forcing many of us to switch to clients such as Thunderbird. Now, they're using qr codes which are not only inaccessible to the blind but also to those who don't use smartphones! This is ridiculous! Yes, they do still have the option to click whether it's you trying to sign in or not (which still requires a smartphone and a carrier, which they claim to be concerned about), but how long before they remove that, too?

Perl is now a CNA, able to assign their own CVE ids, this is great news!

Hi everyone. To those of you who remember the Blind Geek Zone and were fond of the content there, I'm happy to say that I was able to archive almost all podcasts on that website before it went down, and was recently given permission by @Rickster1963 to share the archive. Almost all podcasts starting in very late 2012 are now available at samtupy.com/bgz for consumption! Anyone please let me know if there are any issues with this page or the content. For older bgz podcasts, see the long available archive hoested by @datajake1999 at datajake.braillescreen.net/BGZ… where all the podcasts leading up to 2012 are archived, though without metadata. Enjoy this jaunt down memory lain folks, and thanks rick for letting me share these!

"if you need a tool to communicate privately with your friends and family–even if your chats are boring, mundane, and totally legal–#Signal is the best damn choice I can recommend."

is the conclusion after 6 parts of detailed and well explained code review that starts at soatok.blog/2025/02/18/reviewi… by @soatok

(Yes, I read all 6 parts. No, I don't claim to understand more than the basics of cryptography, which is why yes, I have to and do trust the author on their conclusions)

European #antifascist recommending to use a service running in a fascist-turning country on servers owned by a fascist-friendly billionaire? This is weird.

Focusing solely on the E2EE misses a lot of points, one of those being that with #signal the ends have to be Android or iOS ~spyphones~ smartphones, which is not really something you can have 100% trust into IMHO.

My grandmother recently got locked out of #WhatsApp because her phone broke, and the spare one we had on hand is one WhatsApp has decided is too old to run on 💀

Fortunately, #XMPP has no such qualms! She's currently keeping up with the family group chat on #Quicksy while others of us use #Conversations, #DinoIM, and #Gajim. (Of course, extended family and friends are another matter 😔)

This serves as a reminder that closed apps may close you out—but open protocols have your back forever! :xmpp:

They said #XMPP was connected to #xampu, so I made some! 😇

Hair is personal. Messaging should be too :xmpp:

The owner of Beeja Botanicals is my former classmate, and she's used the shampoo herself, so I know it's good! The first batch is ready and will be available for purchase at #PravConf (or will be, once I've finished wrapping it all 😅)

PS: flyer designed with #Inkscape, and photo taken with #Megapixels on #Mobian on the #PocoF1! :inkscape: :debian:

Woah! You can now run 32bit operating systems (alpine, ReactOS, ...) via the new v86emu #webxdc app available at webxdc.org/apps/#mightyshadow7…

Ethernet networking uses "webxdc realtime API" implemented via @n0iroh gossip channels.

Basically VMs are wired to an Ethernet that is constrained to chat members only and uses forward-secret encryption with #p2p connections. Result: Telnet and netcat are similarly secure as signal but with Peer-to-peer networking :)

Hi everyone, a new version of the wrapper based bestspeech NVDA addon is available. This adds the custom voices by @rommix0 and the unvoiced volume setting. It also attempts to hack NVDA's indent tones into working, people more experienced with NVDA addon dev will have to tell me if this hack caries with it any consequences though I don't think so. I apologize as if you've already installed the addon previously, this might break your saved pitch setting and other parameters (I'll try not doing that too much). I have set up a version that gets compiled with a github action on tag and can be downloaded at github.com/samtupy/b32tts_wrap…, or @datajake1999 feel free to update your version based on the current main branch of the repo. Have fun!

@fireborn to me it feels like, the version of the DLL that had the multilingual synth may have had a higher rate limit, although could be wrong on this. It could be why the BrailleNotes could go quite faster, so doing some sort of comparing between the Win95 VXD and the DLL would be interesting there.
