@fireborn Doesn't that get complicated fast given the multiple clipboard mechanisms on Linux? Gnome, wayland, x etc? I do wonder what happens if I run it inside WSL. I assume nothing if I run native Linux binaries since the terminal doesn't have a clipboard, but Windows clipboard if I run the .exe.
@fireborn I wouldn't be opposed at all to Linux support, but it'd depend how it was done. If you managed to do it in native C++ code that goes right along with the Win32 code with some simple platform checks, I am all here for merging something like that and you have my utmost respect.

@fireborn I don't think anything can be as bad as Linux. Even Android. And that has permissions! I've always been under the impression that just about everything to do with the desktop works like that. Audio, GUI, clipboard, MIDI... I will never trust it for music making, aside from the fact that nearly all my plugins wouldn't work with it to begin with. Nor does OSARA does it?

He gave me one of my first, truly safe jobs and opportunities as a PA for a project he was working on years ago. He made it a point to say “I want to see more Black women in this industry…” and then proved it with his actions. I got to hug him last year after not seeing him for sometime. We spoke via iPad. trurl is a tool in a similar spirit of tr but for URLs. Here, tr stands for translate or transpose. trurl is a small command line tool that parses and manipulates URLs, designed to help shell script authors everywhere.
You can put web+ap URIs into a message (or room description) and ideally a click on those will open your Mastodon client. However if no installed app supports those (the only app that I’m aware of is Fedilab) Conversations will open a browser instead.
Currently no app will create web+ap links but it is fairly easy to handcraft them.
Wouldn't it be nice to have some kind of generic UI widget that could resolve all kinds of protocols attached to a user address and offer to open various different apps for different things?
I said it before on Mastodon. I'm reposting this again. Comparing #DeltaChat and #Matrix together, if you want hassle free and consistent messenger for private #E2EE chats, don't go for Matrix. DeltaChat is way better.
However, if you want something like a public forum, or a public chatroom, don't go for DeltaChat. Matrix is way better suited for that. And DeltaChat does not support public groups at all. In DeltaChat groups, there is no admin or moderator and everyone have got permission to remove or add the others.
I think I have to write a longer post on my personal blog about these two, comparing them together.
