It’s been 5 months since Australian Story aired an episode on NV Access founders, Mick Curran & Jamie Teh. The first Australian Story episode to be audio described. It was an incredible opportunity to share with a wider audience the importance of NVDA & our overarching message, that everyone deserves equal access to technology.
You can still watch the Australian Story episode, with Audio Description, on YouTube: youtube.com/watch?v=3i7gkN-1sA…

Disabled buttons suck
Showing buttons as disabled until a form is complete might seem like a good idea. It is not. They usually create a lousy user experience and exclude many people with disabilities. Here's why disabled buttons suck and what to do instead.Hampus Sethfors (Axess Lab)

Not picking on anyone, but I just saw someone asking devs not to use "2FA" in user messages, and instead use "two factor authentication."
2FA is 3 syllables. Two factor authentication is 8.
From my #a11y use case, 2FA is an accommodation.
I would argue that there's already an HTML way to solve this problem, and that's the html abbr element with the title attribute.

I recently discovered a feature for moderators where you can help with accessibility. When moderating a hashtag, you can change its display name to replace lower-case with upper-case letters. This will help both dyslexics and vision impaired people.
If you can afford an extra minute or two to fix these while moderating trends, it will make them easier to read for everybody, especially the really long tags in hashtag games.

Just talking about audio chat, I recently tried out #Audon, which is a web-based audio chat for mastodon and fedi accounts. You can try it on audon.space/
The #a11y is not perfect, but it can be used. First time you use it you need to authorise it with your fedi account. After that, if you're the host of a room, you need to authorise people coming in. If you just want to join a room the host should give you the link, which you can get from the address bar, and that's it.
