#thunderbird sadly lacks some basic functionality for me. #pgp is not an option in #xmpp chats and it doesnt really support #nextcloud I hope the will change in future updates and thunderbird will evolve in to my be all end all software for communication. but it still has a long way to come.

How about bringing the #XMPP implementation to todays standard and have some good integration between the messanging/presence status side of XMPP and the mail side in Thunderbird.
For example checking addresses in mail if an XMPP address exists for that address and display the presence status if contact/web presence is found?

The conversations.im #XMPP server is now free to use. I verified the legitimacy of this message with the lead developer of the app. Pretty awesome that they decided to stop making money from something because they were able to meet their needs elsewhere, #privacy
I found out that #jsxc, (web browser #xmpp client) has also a standalone singlepage evelope. I made few adjustments to be able to run it as docker container.
More info in the pull request. I don't know if maintainer will like it, maybe it will remain as a fork...

There is one limit i can recognize: #xmpp still has no standard way for group video calls. I miss that a lot. There are only several proof of concept implementations without any further standardization like this: jsxc.org/blog/2021/08/31/A-gro…
