Tomorrow, SCOTUS will hear an accessibility case — specifically around "standing," or who has grounds to sue. Though SCOTUS's opinion isn't expected until next year, it will address whether civil rights testers, many of whom are disabled themselves, can sue businesses for having inaccessible websites, or if instead, you must have been an intended customer to have standing. @LFLegal's post on this is worth the read!

On October 4 the United States Supreme Court will hear a case about who can file lawsuits under the Americans with Disabilities Act. The Opinion (not expected until 2024) may impact digital accessibility lawsuits. My article about the case is here. It includes links to the audio and transcript of the argument that will be posted. lflegal.com/2023/10/acheson-te… #accessibility #disability #disabled #a11y

New Low in the Accessibility “Industry:” Overlay Company Sues Globally-Recognized Accessibility Expert lflegal.com/2023/07/adrian-ros… by @LFLegal #a11y #law #lawsuits #overlays #overlaysSuck

An accessibility overlay vendor (#AudioEye) is suing @aardrian, an accessibility specialist, in the United States of America.

I've already shared this story before. The news is that his attorney has filed a motion to dismiss under New York’s anti-SLAPP (strategic lawsuit against public participation) law (what doesn't really exist in France).

Quick reminder that AudioEye is a member of the IAAP (International Association of Accessibility Professionals)… If this makes you feel bad, it's normal.

"Making a positive change: PDF to HTML
The Government Digital Service (GDS) states “Compared with HTML content, information published in a PDF is harder to find, use and maintain”."

Consider the needs of the people you are publishing the information for. Engage with them early to explore alternative options that may better meet their needs.

Hey designers, don’t prescribe screen reader pronunciation.

Hey devs, don’t override screen reader pronunciation.

Hey testers, don’t file WCAG violations over screen reader pronunciation.

Hello everyone! This is the very first open test of my blind accessible game engine called Unseen RPG Engine, a niche game engine that allows anyone to easily make turn based RPGs, at least that's the goal! This is very early and the purpose of this is to try and start getting the critical feedback I'll need to make this accessible, usable, and fun. Learn more about it, join the discord community, and download it here! ericbomb.itch.io/the-unseen-rp…

Hi everyone! Can anyone who depends on a screen reader read this for me and tell me if it works? I'm making a tutorial on how to make a Roguelike for my blind accessible game engine, so just wanna make sure it's in a good format! It will have informational and instructional content split up to hopefully make it easier for screen readers to find what is needed. Download .txt sample file here!
