I rarely post any of my music online as I just mess about with stuff for my own amusement and I have extremely low self-confidence. Basically I think my music is shit.
Anyway here's something I uploaded about half a decade ago where I tried to make 80s/90s Japanese arcade game music even though I no bugger all about making Japanese video game music.
I did it with the Korg M1 plugin to try to get that old sound chip vibe, and didn't use much dynamics processing because those chips didn't, also I'm horrendous at mixing.
Anyway it is what it is, so enjoy, or something.
No visuals even though it's on YouTube. I put it up there because SoundCloud was and probably still is a pain to use with a screen reader, at least on iOS.

According to some, #WestAfrica is a hotspot of the most talented guitarists around. I agree, but I freely admit I've been biased for a long long time now.
This is Fanta Bourama by Djelimady Tounkara. Considering the above statement, he's mixing in so many styles in this, from #flamenco to jeli ngoni-innspired melodies to #jazzy chromaticism, with immaculate technique and flair, and he makes it all sound effortless. He used to be in the legendary Rail Band before going solo, and is rightfully considered an African #guitar hero. Though not as famous—globally-speaking—as Ali Farka Touré (who occasionally played with the Rail Band’s competition, Les Ambassadeurs), he’s of that same generation of musical pioneers.

Oh hell! Have Mansa as well; an atmospheric and expressive instrumental track progressing to a danceable groove.

First performance of O Canada at the Congrès national des Canadiens-Français. The song would later become the national anthem of Canada #OTD in 1880.

The song was originally commissioned by Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Théodore Robitaille for the 1880 Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day ceremony; Calixa Lavallée composed the music, after which words were written by the poet and judge Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier. The original French lyrics were translated to English in 1906. via @Wikipedia

This is such a cool idea.

It's estimated that 100,000 new songs are uploaded to #Spotify every day.

Inevitably, that means loads of really great music never gets heard.

Thanks to Venus Theory, I've just heard about #Forgotify, which points you to songs on Spotify that have no listens, or at least no complete play throughs.

And I've already found some real gems!

Today's #AudioMo is more of a #Music thing actually, and comes from #Jamulus which is an online realtime jamming tool to allow people in different places to make music with each other. In this instance, Alf, the bass player is a few hundred miles from me also in the UK, Martin (guitar) is in The Netherlands, Phil (other guitarist) is near brighton, Mag (drummer) is in Germany and I'm playing Rhodes in London.
This perspective was captured by Alf.

I tooted Hello World on November 30, 2022.

Then I began tooting my #music and a ton of #puns #jokes, and #memes. And you all responded so genuinely, and with such positivity, that I very quickly was made to feel at home.

My deepest gratitude goes out to the #Mastodon community, a #community that has literally improved the quality of my time on this spinning rock as it hurtles through space, towards a future that seems more uncertain every day. It’s unlike any other “social media platform” here.

Today, I celebrate the arbitrary milestone of five thousand followers, and I just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you for the favourites, the boosts, the follows, and the comments.

Thank you for your conversations, discussions, and corrections.

Thank you for listening to my music and sharing your thoughts on it with me, and for following along on your chosen streaming service. This has been amazing.

But, above all, I’d like to thank you all for making Mastodon the friendly and welcoming place that it is. My experience here is one of wonderful acceptance, and it has been truly humbling. There is nowhere else quite like it.

Massive big huge love to you all,

- Jon (Dgar)

It's raining here, and I'm feeling generous. This track has helped lots of people relax, even though it's mellow. But I'm here to show you that there's something beautiful lurking around in there. Inspired by rain, this is a true minimalist track with one motif going 'round and 'round. Enjoy! PS: DM me for a lossless copy if you'd rather listen to that. This goes for the other track I shared as well. #music #minimalist #rain

It's unreal how many soft or felt pianos I have heard, looked at, tried to imitate with other libraries. Nothing, and I really mean nothing, comes close to Ólafur Arnald's felted grand from his Composer's Toolkit. It's a very specific instrument for a very specific genre, absolutely minimalistic and fragile. One day, I'll purchase it. But for now, enjoy a well-made demo track: youtube.com/watch?v=sLIEXsHjfU… #music

this is being sold as "a Japanese flute". seller doesn't know which. at first glance I thought it was a shinobue but... well, look at it.

anyone knows what type of instrument is this? it might not even be Japanese, but it looks too well-built to be a generic souvenir. can a music person tell me what are those four bottom holes in parallel?
