But it looks like multi-day events are still just repeated every day instead of one continued block spanning multiple days (thus longer titles better readable).
I was forced to switch from Kontact to Thunderbird. Kontact, Korganizer and Kmail2 had a very very nice UI, but the underlying protocol stack ate too much information. For thunderbird I was initially a bit lifted back to the nineties, but got used to it. Why do I bother writing it here?
The protocol stack of Thunderbird is rock-solid. This is the most important thing. Candy comes later. Hope that the supernova release will not break things.
I can't use Thunderbird anymore, and I've used the forums to no avail. I get a message 'Thunderbird is already running but not responding..." when it hasn't been used for months now. I've downloaded updates to no avail, same message. Win 10 user here - please help.
it looks pretty cool. I wonder if there would be any improvement for the gmail support. The google calendar is notorious for not playing fair with any client apps.
no, actually the bigger problems are with scheduling and rescheduling events with video calls. You can add the webex add-on to the google calendar and schedule video calls with it. I haven’t tried it in a while but Outlook was breaking those events if you tried to reschedule, practicality not updating the webex meeting schedule.
Awesome. Can't wait Thunderbird devs have been busy lately haven't they. People have been complaining about the UI for ages, but it seems like there have been a lot of big improvements on the way.
This is looking good so far! Intrigued to see how the rest of the UI is shaping up. I'd love to be able to go back to Thunderbird with a clean and modern UI.
That's great. The one thing that puts me off Thunderbird is the early 2000s interface (and the odd search). Regardless, It's better than everything else.
..I would like to see a monthly overview for 2 or 3 month on the left side, like it is on Kontact (KDE) oder Evolution (Gnome). That might help me on having control over my dates.
Now, after that Gnome's calendar got usable enough, it is hard to convince me to give up that level of integration with the DE. If I set up TB's calendar I'd need a workaround for avoiding duplicate reminders, and lag between desktop app sync. Am I right? BTW it looks awesome, congrats!
looks quite GTK-y (nothing wrong with that), is that because it's running on Gnome, and will have more native looking elements on mac/win, or is that just how it's going to look?
Wow, as soon as it's released, I might be jumping to Thunderbird as my e-mail client. Mailspring stopped working with Mailbox.org, so I only keep it for my work GSuite, and use my email accounts as PWAs in Ferdium, but it's far from perfect. I mean, I'm not sure if I'm going to use calendar feature, but the new UI looks very promising.
looks like something designed for a touchscreen. Also the screenshot is 4K? Who has that big a monitor? I feel like on a normal screen it will be a huge waste of precious screen space. Is there going to be sth like a compact mode?

UI is cool, but can it auto dial in to meetings, transcribe some notes to email me, and pipe in with “nope, nothing from me” just before the meeting ends?
@Aluatis By default @Thunderbird can retrieve Microsoft 365 / Exchange server emails using imap and send messages through SMTP, autheticating with xoauth (so called modern authentication by Microsoft). For tighter integration such as calendars and contacts you need an addon addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/t…
@pvagner I belive I used that in the past. Would be nice if it was official to thunderbird, even if I had to buy a license direct from the TB team for the ActiveSync stuff.

We have ~360 active users right now, so if 50 people gave $1/month, we'd be fine.
If we get more than $50/month, I guess I can bump up the EC2 size to improve performance? I'm not sure it would be worth it, though, since the current load is highly anomalous and I don't plan to open up registrations again. We'll see though.

Oof. Looks like the Nominatim Backend of UnifiedNlp (f-droid.org/packages/org.micro…) is no longer working (their issue-tracker mentions that in multiple places but no fix, no release since 2017). Does anyone know about an alternative? Or at least some #foss #app for #Android updating those details in the photos' Exif/IPTC/XMP data where missing?
I think it works for me but I'm not totally sure how to test it.
When I click on Location modules in microg and select one of the providers e.g. Deja Vu Location service it shows me the "Last locations" as an address. As I said, I'm not totally sure but I think it's querying the address lookup
@jannis Yeah, meanwhile some more people tested it on multiple devices. On some it works, on others it doesn't. Not entirely clear yet whether it's the Backend itself, or the calling app… So it would be good to have a second Nominatim backend to cross-check with, the location backends included with microG's self-test, or a reliable app to test it ("My Location" might one day have it, I requested it there and the issue got the "enhancement" label).
OK, Update-of-Relief: It's working! 🥳 Thanks to the AMAZING!! support by @shiftphones "main developer" (who got me a fixed OTA within a day of being in-the-know of the issue – well, within a few hours of the culprit being found 😲), and the AMAZING support by project contributors to identify the cause, all is working fine now.
Other ShiftOS-L users will receive the OTA shortly & automatically.
Describe the bug As I see it reported throughout multiple issues here and comments elsewhere, it seems this backend is no longer working as expected. Debugging a request to it yields no results. Ar...

Yesterday I have discovered this amazing call recording app for #Android. It's called #BCR. Apart of its settings it has no UI, it detects both incoming and outgoing calls when they are picked up not when you are making them, it supports storage access framework, it uses android system decoders, it has quick tile toggle, it generates consistent file names with optional contact names, it can be installed as a magisk module. that's fine, but our rules state that cross posts should be set to unlisted or stricter, and I think this is especially true for platform specific cross posts. Also try to disable boosts from being posted from mastodon to Twitter. Some people might not want their posts to end up there. Thanks!
If you find something that you really do want to share, you can absolutely do that. Just please try not to have it all automated, because it's easy to start neglecting one side over the other, and then your account is basically just a bot.
