This Matt Colville video feels like a real "emperor has no clothes" moment for WotC (of 2023 at least). Even with the "hey we love the *culture* of D&D" statement, the hard truths about D&D's clunky rules & burden of inheritance from the 70s rules… those are going to sink in more as D&D influencers move to (or create) other rule systems.

WotC had issues before but they were plastered over with community goodwill and inertia. Maybe that plaster has cracked beyond repair.

@michal 🤦‍♂️this idea is repeatedly appearing everywhere in the world. EU, UK, it doesn't matter. It seem that some basic IT education is missing, otherwise they would understand there is no middle stage between encrypted (private) and plain text (publicly readable) messages. I would ask such politicians if I can borrow their phones to read their messages.

Canonical will prevent Ubuntu flavors to come with Flatpak preinstalled, as they want to push snaps.

Kind of a Microsoft-like move here. Really bad.

I'm no fan of Flatpack either – but agreeing to that is simply wrong. It's promoting monopolism. Seems like it's no longer enough to not recommend Ubuntu, but rather to warn about it.

They do many things right, and many good things. But binding a free system to a proprietary server to me makes them unusable. I'm glad at least derivatives are not affected.

Let's look at an example, backups and security, currently on #mastodon and the whole #Fediverse the is an understanding that nothing is actually private (ok mastodon keeps telling white lies about this, i don't blame them) so we trust our admins not to spy, and we don't stress about the lossyness of it all.

Add the security of secret chat, and you add a whole another stress to running an instance. Why do we need to do this?
