Today we are gonna be talking about hyperbolic orbits
A hyperbolic orbit describes the path of an object that passes through a gravitational system only once and never returns. Unlike circular or elliptical orbits, a hyperbolic trajectory is open, meaning the object has enough speed to escape the gravity of the body it encounters. In our solar system, some comets and interstellar objects follow hyperbolic orbits, briefly swinging past the Sun before heading back into deep space. These paths have an eccentricity greater than one, a key mathematical signature of escape. Hyperbolic orbits are important because they reveal objects that originated elsewhere. A few examples include Oumuamua and 31/ATLAS.

@TomGrant91 @carrottop1023 I will say it's one of the most fun things I've ever worked on, musically or otherwise. I always wanted to be a coder but don't have the brain for it, but now I can fake it, and tie it into my love of music, so I basically have my cake and eat it.
I didn’t get a chance to ask the question during the panel, so I’ll ask it out-loud here :)
I tend to have a mental model of behaviour that I think about on social media: interaction level and collective level.
If you want to moderate interaction level content, then that’s things like “is this image problematic” or “is this person harassing someone else” and so on. That seems to be what the DSA mostly addresses? Which is great! We need more protection there
But the collective level is something I’m curious about: what happens when attacks are designed to be “harmless” or “not violating” at the interaction-level, yet deeply harmful at the collective level? How does one defend against a synthetic threat carefully designed to target a vulnerable collective in a way that no interaction level defense is really capable of handeling?
Do we have regulations around this yet? Is it a problem we’re trying to address at the governance level? (I know the tooling is nearly non existent, but slowly starting to emerge. It would be encouraging to see similar momentum in governance)

@modulux A good example would be identifying a wave of spam from multiple individual accounts, each one being a “normal” amount of traffic, but the aggregate being a disproportionate amount of volume.
Another would be a group that targets a subset of a community with messages that, individually, do not break any rules but the combined result is that the targeted community members feel so unwelcome that they can’t participate safely in the space without harming their mental health.
When done severely enough and targeted enough, it can erode a community over time to the point where it collapses

my knew favorite thing on the templates tab of @FastSM is this option, right here. Collapse usernames when more than (0 = disabled) I set mine to two and then when a billion people are in a mention, etc. I here something like, @munchkinbear and 2 more. Makes reading long winded mentions with a billion people so much smoother. lol.
@4zv4l I'm totally blind, people like me use special software called screen readers which convey the information for us in speech and/or Braille. Not every app or website is inherently ready for it. It is called digital accessibility, or simply #Accessibility. There are standards and (in several locations) laws enforcing it. The most prominent world standard everyone bases their local laws of is Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG, most commonly read as "wick-cagg"). Unfortunately, I didn't find any Matrix client for Windows or web accessible for screen reader users.
@menelion ah I understand, hopefully one developper will see the need and make a client with that feature or adapt a current one (maybe less work to adapt a preexisting one like Element).
@menelion @4zv4l What? Elements.io is quite accessible both on app and on browser. I don't know about other apps though. There should also be possibility to manage matrix and xmpp chats through thunderbird but I haven't used it. What's quite weird in matrix is the identity verification method when you associate devices to account that asks you if emojis match. So you have to learn emoji by heart like the game "simon says" but for the rest, the Element web and mobile clients are pretty good.
@elettrona @4zv4l don't you experience focus jumps? Are you able to read longer messages? Do you have any notification with text when a message comes in? I'll retest though.
@element @4zv4l Where can I post issues, please? For me, when I tested element, focus was jumping constantly, I had no accessible notifications of new messages, I couldn't read longer messages, etc., etc. I'd be glad to help because Matrix seems very promising, but I wish it were fully accessible also. Thanks!

Ernsthaft? Die gesamte grafische Gestaltung sagt: Hier sehen sie einen Kosmonauten, verbunden mit seiner Raumstation - selbst die Bildbeschreibung deutet in diese Richtung. Dass, vollkommen entgegen der Optik, hier NICHT kyrillische Buchstaben Verwendung finden, ist wenig intuitiv. Und wenn man eine Grafik erklären muss, weil die naheliegende Interpretation nicht intendiert ist, ist die Grafik vielleicht nicht so passend. 🤔🤷🏼♂️
Eine weitere Einordnung: Das Bild findet man am Rechenzentrum in Potsdam. Es wurde von dem Künstler Fritz Eisel unter dem Titel "Mensch bezwingt den Kosmos" zwischen 1969-1971 dort angebracht. Das Rechenzentrum ist für uns in Potsdam ein wichtiger Ort. Zu DDR Zeiten war es das Datenverarbeitungszentrum des Bezirkes Potsdam und heute ist es ein Ort für über 300 Künstler:innen. Zum anderen ist das RZ der David gegen Goliath im Streit um den Wiederaufbau der Garnisonkirche.

Это период, когда зима ещё не наступила, а осень вступает в свою самую глубокую фазу. Серый пейзаж с сухой листвой, низкое тяжёлое небо. В этот момент дикие животные становятся столь же неброскими. Как эта лисица, которую я сфотографировал в декабре. Она была в процессе линьки, её окрас блеклый и потрёпанный, совсем не тот, что мы обычно видим на фото.
Я тогда гулял возле реки и, заметив движение, присел с камерой. На мне не было маскировки, но ожидание было недолгим. Через несколько минут появилась лисица. Она даже не взглянула в мою сторону и пробежала мимо. В период линьки животные теряют свою осторожность. Но, заметив меня, лисица сразу пустилась наутёк.
Теперь, когда зима в разгаре, все лисы снова в своих шубках, и ничего не напоминает об их облезлых нарядах чернотропа. А мне удалось запечатлеть одну из них в непривычном виде. #natureblogru #лиса #mastoanimals

Okay, for any of you who have NVDA Composer by @FreakyFwoof installed, paste the following into it. One note sounds a tiny bit short to me, but nevertheless, some of you should definitely recognize this!
I just tried to do the VoxClock version of Roslein, as well as the Estonian national anthem, and neither seem to be working out. It seems the note lengths this thing can produce aren't really designed for waltzes.
If YOU CAN PLAY IT IN USING MIDI AS A TEST< THEN BRING IT INTO THE COMPOSER< IT SHOULD ALIGN IT TO NEAREST tick value and we can see if it does support it or not. I'm still going to implement that anyway, but still.
Potential bug, maybe? So I'm editing a sequence, which involves a lot of 1/12 and 1/24 note fractions, and also occasional 8th notes. It's swing that isn't, mostly just triplets, and I transcribed this in MML previously. So I've got my units set to 1/24 and use control+right arrow to lengthen to 1/12 when I need it. But when I press control+right again, it goes from 160 ticks to 320 ticks, when it should probably increase by another step size, yielding 240 ticks, which is the 8th note I need. Is it supposed to always double or is it supposed to add?
@x0 It's doubling I believe, yeah. It's hard to account for so many variables admittedly. Can you use the ` or CTRL+` to get the right number in as desired? Is that working at least? That was only added today so it's a new feature.
That's how I punched in the 1/12 and 1/24 fractions yup, although I haven't tried using control+` on a single note that was already entered. Oh! Right, I was thinking that this was like reaper's grid, where step size and note length are different, but control+` is only for editing existing notes, isn't it? That's how come it's blank?
You should at least be able to fix that short note now. I tried it myself (pre the tick fix) and couldn't get it to work but that should not be a problem any longer.

Digital independence day for blind people is as hypocrite as Valentine's day if you are in an abusive relationship, where one gives chocolate hearts to their partner while abusing of them, one day after the other. No, this is not my way to get angry/envious of people who celebrate good stories. But to remind that too many people can't afford digital independence from multi-billionaires tech, as smaller companies/communities aren't so careful of accessibility (yet). This is due to a very relevant digital gap lasting since 25 years at least, when laws have started to come out before learning. Investments made on empathy-driven campaigns, "you must make it accessible otherwise"... The consequence is we have most 40-50 years old developers who know nothing. And 30-20 years old devs who could learn, but who are gradually being replaced by automated tools which claim to create accessibility automatically while accessibility needs human approach.
