There are some serious reasons why you still need to be on Meta platforms: it's your last link to family members, or your support system, or you live in a small town.

I wrote about how to stay on while limiting Meta's ability to surveil you or use your information against you.

Auto-generated sign language has been very difficult to create. I'm hopeful that advancements in AI will lead to auto-generated sign language becoming ubiquitous in the next 15 years. However, it is important to remember that auto-generated sign language like captions will probably never be 100% accurate. There should be a way to edit auto-generated sign language in the future. In QR codes, the following characters can be stored more compactly:

• Digits: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
• Uppercase letters: A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z
• Space
• Symbols: $ % * + - . / :

That’s why uppercase URLs produce smaller QR codes than lowercase URLs.

Yesterday, a woman was assaulted and kidnapped / detained by three men who refused to identify themselves for speaking during a Kootenai County Republican Central Committee town hall and pointing out that town halls are supposed to feature citizen comment. The men who detained her were not wearing any badges or security labels/company logos. They were carrying zip ties on them, and were handing out religious Christo-fash pamphlets. Some of the material they were passing out was titled “prayer guide for state legislators - make America righteous again”

The woman illegally detained is Teresa Borrenpohl. Other people (all democrats, according to local media) who tried to help were also detained. Additional footage displays an off duty officer attempting to remove her before the men in black did. He threatened to use force against her and threatened anyone who was filming.

The town hall took place at a high school in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Local Idaho media claims that her violent removal was initiated by County Sheriff Bob Norris before involving LEAR Asset management, a private security firm with alleged ties to sheriff Norris.

Edit: I personally do not use Amazon, but thought other people might be interested in sharing this with family and friends. I got a lot of judgey replies here like oh if you were really on our side you wouldn't be using Amazon in the first place. Yes, cancelling Prime would be ideal and I mention that to my friends who still use it, but I try not to be a jerk. If you are trying to persuade people to your side--don't be a jerk.
