@lerven Yes, I will gladly take you up on that offer. We ran into a problem where apparently we were showing no visuals, and I did the exact same thing on a test last night and there was visual, so I'm not sure what's going on with it.
There are a few reasons for that. Sometimes OBS doesn't remember the correct window. I had tha tissue with Rimworld last weekend, and it was super frustrating.
My coworkers were surprised when a client was irritated that we asked him to check if an interface is accessible, but I thought it was entirely justifiable since the burden of #accessibility testing shouldn't be placed on folks with a #disability.
It should not be. We usually do that, and most of us are happy to assist, especially if we have some expertise, but yes, the client was right… I mean, *had* right to be irritated.
Well, the problem was mostly with our phrasing of the request. We were not asking him to check if an interface was quantifiably accessible as much as whether the interface was comparably easier for them to use with a screenreader than other options.

Pero el tema parece ser que te puedes montar un espacio vectorial con cualquier campo que se comporte bien con una adición y multiplicación, y las funciones hacen eso.
@yo Efectivamente, pero lo que me suele costar más es entender casos en los que no se usan matrices o vectores al uso porque el campo es una cosa más extraña. Por ejemplo los polinomios forman un espacio vectorial. O las fórmulas proposicionales (hasta equivalencia lógica) con xor como suma y and como producto forman un anillo abeliano, que te permite montar un espacio vectorial con {0,1} como escalares en GF(2). Es la álgebra Lindenbaum-Tarski.
Cuando las cosas tienen "forma" de matriz o vector ahí por lo menos es menos abstracto.

@yo Sí, la verdad es que es una cosa que me gusta y a la vez me exaspera un poco, porque de repente te das cuenta de que algo que estabas haciendo de una forma complicada e ineficiente se puede hacer de otra manera si concibes la estructura de otra forma.
En fin, llevo unos 4 meses desde que decidí a volver a estudiar un poco en serio, así que tampoco he llegado muy allá. Newspapers really are bad at their job. I work at two libraries. One hasn't received the Sunday paper in like a month despite paying for it and reporting that problem each Sunday & Monday. The other hasn't received any papers in over a month because of an invoicing problem, the phone number on the invoice is disconnected, the consumer facing customer support says "that's not an account" and they don't respond to emails to the email they specifically tell you to email. My most recent email subject is "please let me pay you". Maybe I should contact the reporters to see if they'd run a story on this?

+1. The new tab bar is far less customisable, even if you don't make it scrollable in previous versions you could have more than 4 tabs. In Mona 7 you're limited to 4, and if you click more the other tabs you have open up into a small grid instead of a scrolling tab bar. If it's not possible to implement this with the new liquid glass design I'd honestly love an option to switch back because it's something I use extensively.

I just read a post about something being released in spring 2027. First reaction: WOW, that's a long time from now. Uh... wait, no, that's in a little more than 15 months, which is about 4.6 times shorter than I've lived in this house that we were only supposed to stay in for a month. Yeah, it's not too long at all, really.

I just released an update to Hitster, probably the most ambitious one so far. An entirely new section allows to browse hits, a new permissions system allows to add and edit hits as well. Also, every server can now have its own set of hits, with the possibility of sending them in to be added to the game. Roughly 400 new hits bring us to a total of 7184 hits too. I have an autistic friend here who I just found out has a large collection of online art they created. But this person doesn't share it here, because they have trouble describing visual details verbally. So I wanted to ask the community on this person's behalf:
What are the options for assistance with *creating* alt text? I know we have tags like #AltText4You, but I've never used it, so I don't know proper etiquette. (Is there any?) I also know there are automated tools for doing it, but (1) I don't know what they're called and (2) IDK if they are actually helpful to visually impaired folks.
I was thinking at the very least, this person could ask for help writing alt text, in the alt text itself, and then simply edit it once someone has assisted.
Please boost so we can get a variety of perspectives on this. I'm especially interested in hearing from the visually impaired community, as this impacts them the most.
Hey, a blind guy here. They can use AI at least to draft descriptions. A prompt to ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini would be: "Please describe this image for blind people" — the simplest one. Then sighted people can verify if something is wrong.
If they are anti-AI or close to that, they might especially mark each alt with "Generated with [AI name]". but AI assistive tools is super mega prominent in the blind community, so no one will be surprised actually, especially if we know the context.
Curious what folks are using for note-taking apps? Ideally I want something like Obsidian but more accessible, something where I can backlink and easily cross-reference notes, like a personal wiki.
@menelion Sadly, I’m not that skilled. There's quite a few apps that do what I want, they just aren't very accessible which is so frustrating. I'd happily even pay for such an app if it'd work.
What kind of apps do you want and would you pay for? And, if you don't mind, would you please tell approximate amount you're willing to pay and also the model: subscription, lifetime license plus additional cost for upgrades? @menelion I mean I have a specific need for a note-taking app that's accessible and that has the wiki linking functionality I'm looking for. As far as how much and which model, I'd be very open but accessibility and functionality has to be what I need as I don't want to pay and then compromise on features/accessibility.
As for accessibility, you don't have to tell me, I'm blind myself. but as for the wiki, you mean, like internal linking between notes by ID and/or title?
@menelion Yep exactly. I want to link ideas together such that a word that is a title of another document becomes a backlink. Obsidian does this as well, their interface is just a pain to use although the editor is actually quite good.
OK, thanks, will do. I'm thinking about KeePass-like interface on desktop and maybe on web also, where you have optionally a tree of categories, or if you want only one level, a list of them, and notes in each categories as a list.

anything else is just half assing it to get around whatever warning your client is saying, acting like people who care about that are stupid, and most importantly completely ignoring people the needs of people who rely on alt text to know what you posted. in fact, when you do this i think the only player who wins from this move is AI scrapers who wanna improve their computer vision models
