NVDA 2024.4.1 has been released! This is a patch release to fix a bug when saving speech symbol dictionaries. Pressing the Close button in the Symbol Pronunciation dialog will now save the symbols dictionary and close the dialog.

Is there any current way to get #NVDASR to honor Aria Live Region Assertive, such that new events interrupt speech?
When using the web-based screen reader mode of the Ableton Move with NVDA, you have to wait for the full text before the next event is spoken. Really annoying when quickly turning knobs and such. This doesn't happen with Voiceover on iOS or Mac OS, though it is slower to initially respond.

Please note, after updating any software, it is a good idea to restart the computer. Restart by going to the Shutdown dialog, selecting “restart” and pressing ENTER.

To be honest, I don't really like windows security, it keeps removing files without asking me about it, and when I try to add an exception, it's just not letting me. The option link in the settings UI won't let me do anything. I just, can't find the option. Speaking about win 10 btw.

In Beta 5 we have fixed an issue where the custom multiple key press timeout was not honoured when repeatedly pressing the NVDA key. There are also updates to translations.

Changes introduced in Beta 4:
- Fixed the visual layout of NVDA’s Braille Settings page.
- Fixed an issue causing text not related to shortcut keys to appear in the Commands Quick Reference.
- Updates to translations.

I only ever open Edge accidentally but the 'And 1 more tab' rubbish in the title bar gets on my nerves enough there.
Time for an #NVDASR application dictionary entry, I think.
I do a lot of my work in a shell but it'll still annoy the hell out of me.
For those on the beta channel, NVDA 2024.4 Beta 3 is available for testing. LibLouis has been updated fixing issues in Spanish and adding new Thai and Greek tables. There are also updates to NVDA translations. This is a patch release to fix a bug with the automatic add-on update notification. When automatically checking for add-on updates, NVDA no longer freezes on poor connections.

NVDA 2024.4 Beta 2 is now available. Changes from Beta 1:
- The stability of NVDA’s Poedit support has been improved with the side effect that the minimum required version of Poedit is now version 3.5.
- NVDA is no longer as sluggish when arrowing up & down through large files in VS Code.
- NVDA no longer freezes while checking for add-on updates.
- Updates to translations.
