And last thing, the #ArchLinux installation is still the one I installed back in 2012.
I always just create new partition layout and copy the root filesystem from old machine to the new one.

My first distro was Ubuntu, but it often broke a lot on major version updates. So I did several distro hops until I landed on Arch. Arch is rolling release distro. No major updates, just regular small updates. I like it.

Of course It also breaks from time to time, but it's usually just a one app that changed configuration format, or deprecated some feature. And you know what was last updated and thus can more easily find the culprit. I was always able to fix it.

It's 14 years old installation, it still perfectly works and evolves.
It used to be installed with grub, in dual boot with Windows, now it sits there alone and boots by efistub.
It used to run InitV, X11 and Pulse audio, now it uses SystemD, Wayland, and PipeWire.

This is it's 4th machine and still stable. I love Linux, and especially Arch.

#AMD #Framework 13 and #ArchLinux. It's alive! And from the beginning it just works. Not like the previous Lenovo with Nvidia, that after 6 years of driver updates still can't wake from suspend properly.

I'm quite impressed how #EndeavourOS, despite not being _glamorous_ or hyped up as some of the rest in the list - is doing quite well at ~2.12% of the #Linux #Steam users. Not **that** far off from something like #Bazzite (~5.89%) and is higher even than #Fedora, #Manjaro, and #PopOS. EndeavourOS was the boat I chose when I decided to leave #Windows few years back, and it's still going strong. Despite #ArchLinux having a rep to 'break', my PC and all of my family members' have yet to go through such a thing lol. Its rep of being not user-friendly to noobs is also not that true seeing how a solution to a problem, if any, is often one search away from the incredibly documented Arch Wiki - better than relying on hundreds of conflicting information scattered through distros' forums. I'm perfectly aware everyone's experience is unique to their own, esp with something as fragmented as Linux, but I'd be remiss not to mention that while my EndeavourOS experience has been flawless, I've had broken/borked systems with 2 #Debian/#Ubuntu based distros (not gonna name, names), Manjaro (Arch based, though some might not agree), and even Bazzite (Fedora based). These were with #Intel/#AMD systems too that's supposedly 'ideal', at least 2 of my EndeavourOS systems meanwhile have #NVIDIA GPUs (i.e. 'not ideal'). These were a couple of years ago tho before reaching my 'final distro', EndeavourOS tho so things may have improved for these distros too. All in all, my point is, despite not being the glamorous, popular option... THANK YOU to the EndeavourOS team for clearly putting in a ton of work to ensure our (supposedly) broken-prone systems to keep running stably.

@Marcus they work but are far less convenient than a custom channel. eg, my channel "FOSS" includes hashtags #Linux, #FOSS, #Firefox, #FirefoxNightly, #Thunderbird, #Arch, #ArchLinux, & several others. To do it manually just by my saved tag search links requites the tedium of having to do all those searches individually in series, not automatically in parallel as done by the channel.

Are you kidding me ?!

My AirPods never worked under Arch (within the Bluetooth debugging budget I had given myself)

Here, on NixOS, copy and paste the example configuration, add bluetui for controlling pairing and boom, it just works

I’m blown

#nixos #nix #bluetooth #archlinux #arch #linux

@delta@chaos.social desktop Linux client installed from an official arch repo for some reason doesn't work on my Arch Linux with Wayland and Sway installed.
After the launching through wmenu nothing happens. When launching through a terminal emulator I got an error:

[28650:1101/162426.452376:ERROR:ui/ozone/platform/x11/ozone_platform_x11.cc:250] Missing X server or $DISPLAY
[28650:1101/162426.452426:ERROR:ui/aura/env.cc:257] The platform failed to initialize. Exiting.
SolutionLaunch Delta Chat client by the following command:
deltachat-desktop --ozone-platform-hint=auto
I don't know how and why, but it works.

There I'll be an Arch user meetup at 16:00 today at #38C3.

Short presentation from staff, maintainers and contributors. Then a Q&A session.

We have swag and (some) stickers.
