As a developer, I try to make my software as accessible as possible for everyone. Unfortunately, I often lack a view from the user's perspective. my first thought was "that doesn't make sense" but on further thought what else makes sense?
If it takes an argument then does it matter that there's a space there or not? To my mind whatever follows it must be the argument to it.
One possibility would have been to require an error if there was no space there - it would catch folks who didn't realise there had to be an argument to it (maybe at the annoyance of those who say "but this takes an argument, why do I need a space?").

We have always had a custom command line option parser in curl. It is fast and uncomplicated and gives us the perfect mix of flexibility and function. It also saves us from importing or using code with another license.
Compare: curl --proto https haxx.se # does cleartext http curl --proto =https haxx.se # fails, because cleartext http not allowed
So, if you would use --proto=https, you might believe you prevented cleartext http but you didn't, I suppose you would need to do --proto==https for that.

I'm attending one of the best academic AI conferences (ACL) this week, and the vast majority of papers presented are now from China. I've been to one session where, out of 8 papers, every single one was presented by somebody from that country.
This is my first time at ACL, but other attendees have said that this is not how things have been at previous editions.
The fraction of Chinese participants also went up, from ~30% last year to 51% this year. The US is at 18%, everybody else is single-digit percentages if that.

I posted asking for help on this a bit ago, and while I didn't get any solutions, it did get my brain thinking outside of the box, and I found the solution, its easy, but proof that the UI, especially the settings layout really needs some work around here.
For whatever reason, the necessary setting isn't under the timeline settings, but Social Networks
The key setting here is Followed Content Scope, default is 'Conversations my follows started or commented on', but if'n you change it to 'Only conversations my follows started' if will only show original posts and boosts.
Hopefully this'll help others, I mentioned in a comment on my original post, but that could easily be missed, so here we go. Oh, and if'n you've any tag suggestions, send them my way, and I'll prolly add them.
