Here's a very early implementation of #Firefox Sync running in Thunderbird Daily!
The bones are there and the foundation is solid.
Though it may be called something else by the time we launch it in Thunderbird 115 (such as Thunderbird Sync or #Mozilla Sync), it's a feature we're THRILLED about putting in your hands.
Right now, if using a screen reader in non-virtual mode so one can use the J and K keys to navigate up and down, and 1 through 3 to quickly switch columns, the screen reader NVDA on Windows with Fi...GitHub

Probably not going to surprise anyone, but I'm stepping back from Pinafore. Thanks to everyone who followed along with this project over the years!
Five years ago, I started a journey to build a better Mastodon client – one focused on performance and simplicity. And I did! Pinafore is the main Mastodon client I’ve used myself since I fir…Read the Tea Leaves

Since the release of the first text-to-speech (TTS) model, researchers have been looking for ways to improve the way these systems generate speech. The latest model from Microsoft, VALL-E, is a significant step forward in this regard.Damir Yalalov (Metaverse Post)
Floating compose button in K-9 Mail beta. Behavior is the best of any of these floating buttons that I've seen (I like that we have an extra line when you get to the bottom so it doesn't cover any content).
If you aren't already - follow @k9mail and @thunderbird for more updates!
@djiko_iko You're referring to the account, not the software, right?
If so, valid point. Since K-9 Mail is being transformed into Thunderbird by this summer, it makes more sense to update people here on this account, for both our mobile and desktop products.
As a hobby, I hack instant messaging gateways from various chat "apps" to XMPP (XMPP is to Whatsapp what the fediverse is to Twitter). Slidge (the name I gave to my hobby software thingy) has been mostly usable for me for a few weeks, so I decided to talk about it a little in my blog, by pretending some milestone has been reached and calling it a "release candidate".

> Facebook, Mattermost, Signal, Skype, Steam, Telegram, and Whatsapp
Out of curiosity, how many of those do #OAUTH2, API tokens or similar? I don't use any of those services & don't even know what steam is.
@0
- signal, telegram, whatsapp: revokable, "per device" access ~token
- discord, mattermost: slidge login process = "get your access token from the web UI via dev browser dev tools" 🤡
- facebook, steam: optional 2FA (but right now, password is stored slidge-side anyway, possible area of improvement). they used to have "revokable application password" but I've had less success with them recently
Steam is the largest game store for PC, with social network-like features.

Jair #Bolsonaro supporters storm #Brazil’s presidential palace and supreme court

Book recommendation: Mara Bos's new book, _Rust Atomics and Locks: Low-Level Concurrency in Practice_. I've just started reading it, but so far it's excellent. Recommended to anyone who's interested in Rust, low-level concurrency primitives, or both.
It's published by O'Reilly, and available via your favorite bookseller. (I've pre-ordered a paper copy.) It's also available for free on the author's Web site: marabos.nl/atomics/.

in reply to Alexandru Balan • • •@alexandru_ionut_balan @JogoDetonado Despite its current name, Firefox Sync in Thunderbird has nothing to do with your browser.
We've implemented the technology behind it to securely sync things like your email accounts, passwords, tags, email filters, contacts, and more between Thunderbird clients on multiple PCs.

Regarding Android, we do plan to support basic syncing with whatever key features Thunderbird for PC and Android both support.

As development goes forward, I suspect that will change.
