I just heard about Archive Team Warrior, where you can donate some of your internet bandwidth to helping the Internet Archive do its work. In under half an hour, I had the container running on my home server. The documentation talks about VMs, but Docker is also an option.
Tesla's so-called "autopilot" turns off automatically a fraction of a second before a crash, so the driver can be blamed even though the driver has no time to respond. (It's been that way for more than a year since originally publicly documented by the NHTSA, this is clearly a choice someone made.)
And while Tesla management clearly just loves doing terrible things, an individual engineer implemented this.
You don't want to be that engineer:
1. It's immoral, and a dereliction of your professional duty. 2. If your action ever goes to court, there will be some very expensive lawyers trying their best to make you the scapegoat and claim you are either incompetent or malicious, but you very definitely did this on your own.
And most of the time the things you'll be asked to do aren't as bad. I know someone who was asked by their manager to put a CE mark on products that were from the non-CE factory. These devices weren't safety critical, this wasn't going to kill anyone. But it's still fraud, and the incentive was still there for the company to make this engineer the scapegoat.
The engineer said "no"... and that was the end of it. Sometimes that's all it takes to enforce standards.
If "no" isn't enough, asking for something in writing (signed and dated) is a good next step. Chances are that will be the end of it, and meanwhile you can start looking for a new job.

Spotify’s CEO Daniel Ek has raised €600M for his new startup, which is developing AI TECH FOR WAR. Ek still owns 9% of Spotify, but has 37% voting control. His net worth went from $2.5B to $10B in the last two years alone, on the back of paying musicians a pittance in royalties.
And don’t forget:
• Spotify spent $250M of your subscription dollars to invite Joe Rogan to spew his disinformation on their platform. • They’re still trying to embrace and extinguish Podcasts. • They’re developing in-house, AI-generated “music” so users will play them (royalty-free) instead of music created by humans (who demand royalty).
And now, he’s using his wealth, created by your subscriptions, to fund tech that will use AI to literally murder humans in war.

- Canada needs to open the market to EV low-speed vehicles (LSV) and small EVs as used in many European cities, as well as stop placating the US and remove the tariffs to the Chinese EV market, like on BYD. Canada does *not* have a EV manufacturing base to protect - and only if there is significant competition and take up here in Canada will there ever be one. Nor should we be the gatekeeper for the US, who have shown to do us no favours.

Most comercial platforms (including Windows and office) are very accessible to PWDs. This is not true for FOSS software (including all linux distros and most of software targeting Linux). This move will leave PWDs out.

@SylvieLorxu We use github.com/CanHub/Android-Imag… It works, but I don't expect it to get any huge updates anymore. The way foward is probably to switch to Compose and see which libraries are available there.
This year, there appear to be even more fireworks on my street. Which seems weird given both the tariffs and the fact these are a Chinese invention which are made in China, and the folks setting them off around here are very much ‘America first’.
