it is curious to me to follow from a distance the way in which audio and video handling (on linux, and more broadly) have been both converging yet not quite arriving in the same place.
It's interesting to thnk about the differences: more computational load for visual display, but more sensitivity to timing errors for audio (due to human sensory mechanisms).

@PaulDavisTheFirst Because adding more buffers means keeping the GPU and CPU at a higher clock setting, which consumes more power. You can do it for some things, like an application, but not for everything, otherwise your power consumption and battery life will just be miserable
@ebassi no, not adding more buffers. Just accepting that you only ever have two, and the one not being used by the video hardware MUST be ready by the next vsync (or its equivalent). No games, just deadlines.

Having dipped my toe in making Generative AI, I can say both are equally likely. Generative AI simply picks the next most common thing to say based on the context of the prompt and the prior words generated. It's prone to not stating the truth. But Google is also prone to lying and using peoples' data without their explicit consent of the use case.

@DavidRHel @demerara not an expert but the installer on the download page updates the installation you have and removes outdated files. You don’t end up with multiple installations. With be sure to check your computer and OS for the right version (32, 64)
I got a bit of a shock when I saw that screenshot, actually. Took a while to see that the tabbed interface is an option. PLEASE also keep the option of an old-style menu and toolbars UI for those of us who greatly prefer that.
I wrote it using a small version of my Go Discord library. It's a PWA app that also works on desktops.
The fact that Nokia locked the phone made any debugging effort near impossible. Styling for such a small screen was also quite challenging.

Hello everyone, I hope all are safe and well during these crazy times. I need everyone to listen up for a second, because I'm here to talk about an important safety issue that is rarely discussed. I'm talking about active shooter situations, and people with disabilities. A discussion occurred this morning between my husband who has multiple disabilities, and his worker who assist him a few times a week. She basically wants to minimize his shopping experience to keep them safe, but she went about it in the most atrocious way. We had a shooting at our local Target just down the street from us, and it is a place my husband and I have visited many times. Thankfully no one was shot, but this brings to mind a very important discussion. So far, I've seen nothing talking about active shooters and how people with disabilities and their caregivers can prepare and plan for these situations. If you have a few minutes, I'd like to point you to the following blog post I've written, both as a therapeutic writing exercise, but mainly, to share awareness of this issue. How are these caregivers being trained? Why aren't they approaching these subjects with sensitivity and respect as they should? Please read the blog post at the link below. @jdking92 Possibly, but you could likely rig a pedal or some kind of input to do that for you, and they barely touched on the functions. Maybe it has an auto-listen mode and listens for loud sounds, who's to say? I bet it's way more comprehensive than has been listed here. Would surely make sense.
