Hey fellow #BlindMastodon users! I'm looking for recommendations on two types of writing tools for Windows:
1. Accessible text expanders
2. Word prediction software
I use both #JAWS and #NVDA screen readers. I tried Espanso (an open-source text expander), but it didn't work well with NVDA. I also tested Lightkey for word prediction, but it didn't seem accessible.
As an #ActuallyAutistic person, word prediction would really help with my autism-related communication challenges.
Have you found any text expanders or word prediction tools that work well with screen readers? What has your experience been like? I'd love to hear your recommendations and thoughts!

Imagine if “I need a moment to think" and “I need more information first" were acceptable responses in allistic society.
My socially awkward and permanently anxious self just made a call and I neither lost my shit nor fumbled my words.
I will be taking cookies at this time, or gold stars, or squeezy hugs. Thanks for your consideration.
I’m gonna try introducing an Autistic space concept to fedi–color communication cards, we had them at all the autistic self advocacy events and conferences back in the before times of in person events, it was very helpful for communicating our varying levels of nonverbalness and desire to be left alone or approached. I think it could be a useful tool here in online space if normalized, using fedi’s custom emojis (it doesn’t need to be these exact ones, anything with the color scheme/shapes would work). that’s my idea today for us Autistics maybe communicating a little better on here.
also it’s ok to reply to this post whatever color I’m on since I made it informationally and intentionally made it shared to a group and all.
(descriptions paraphrased from ASAN’s document)
actively seeking communication; may have trouble initiating conversations, but want to be approached by people who are interested in talking.
only wants to be approached by people they recognize, not by strangers. might approach strangers to talk, and that is okay; the approached people are welcome to talk back to them in that case.
probably does not want to talk to anyone, or only wants to talk to a few people. might approach others to talk, and that is okay; the approached people are welcome to talk back to them in that case. but unless you have been told already by the badge-wearer that you are on their red list, you should not approach them to talk.

Some of us Internet Weirdos are doing a survey on Neurodivergence and Education.
If you are in school, college, university or whatnot, or have been in the last five years, could you spend a few minutes filling in this out for us?
We're writing guides for educators and learners and the more input we have, the better we'll be.
Appreciated folx!

For years, we used to explain to folks that we experienced a phonological delay in processing speech or sounds, and that it was likely linked to us being autistic.
We only later worked out that we're actually AuDHD (inattentive ADHD and autistic) and that there's an actual medical term for this: auditory processing disorder.
If you're some flavour of neurospicy, you might have it too without realising. Common signs and symptoms include:
- speaking louder or softer than is situationally appropriate;
- difficulty remembering lists or sequences;
- needing words or sentences to be repeated;
- impaired ability to memorize information learned by listening;
- interpreting words too literally;
- needing assistance to hear clearly in noisy environments;
- relying on accommodation and modification strategies;
- finding or requesting a quiet work space away from others;
- requesting written material when attending oral presentations; and
- asking for directions to be given one step at a time.
It heavily overlaps with ADHD and autism
Hope this is helpful to someone

I am doing a survey about yoga and neurodivergent folk and your boosts would be appreciated.
If you are neurodivergent (self-realized or Dx'd, it's all good here), and fall under the vast ND umbrella, I'd love to hear from you. Quick 6-7 question survey and you can remain anon if you want.
Thank you!

I'm #ActuallyAutistic and I know food preparation is difficult for many folks in the community.
But learning to feed yourself is a skill that has cascading effects (I get severely depressed if I don't feed myself food I like). Not to mention, not everyone has the $$ for takeout
I've been sending this 'sad bastards cookbook' to everyone archive.org/details/sad-bastar…
It focuses on 'boil water and eat' and 'ingredients that don't go bad'

If you’re in or around Dublin and are #ActuallyAutistic, #ActuallyADHD, otherwise #Neurodivergent in any way, or just an ally, Neuro Pride Ireland are holding Neuro Pride @ Dublin Pride this Saturday
Wishing everyone who takes part a fantastic day! ♾🏳️🌈
I’m a bit far away to make it along myself sadly
For anyone like me who wouldn’t want to take part in an indoor event anyway, NPI also have an outdoor quiet zone in the #Pride Village the following Saturday 😊
#intro (1/n)
I've been working on computers for a long time, but art has been my passion for longer. I am #actuallyAutistic and I mean, it's pretty obvious if you interact with me ever. I like photography a lot, and will definitely be posting photos. I do some let's say Idiosyncratic visual art. I am very good at some kinds of vector graphics.
I am 1/4 of a tiny games studio Aldercone with @evel you should check it out! I do the programming.
