If you're an #iOS #developer, love #opensource, and have a certain passion for email, you should definitely keep an eye on the #Thunderbird careers page!

thunderbird.net/careers/

Within the next few months, we'll be hiring someone to help us lay the groundwork for Thunderbird on iOS. When that career opportunity goes live, we will announce it here.

(So yes, we can 100% confirm we plan to develop an iOS version)

I updated my #Thunderbird Beta, and was welcomed by the redesigned navigation bar, part of the Supernova roadmap.

I quite like the UI changes so far, well done @thunderbird 👍

You're looking at the #Audacity project for Episode 1 of Thunder⚡Cast, our new monthly podcast.

We recorded it on Friday, and it's being edited into shape this week. Expect it before the end of the month. We'll share the RSS feed when it goes live.

While K-9 Mail is developed in the open, following its development on GitHub can be somewhat tedious for a casual observer. So we’re trying something new and summarizing the most notable things that happened in the past month as we head down the exciting road to Thunderbird for Android!

In this ongoing series of conversations, we introduce you to the people behind the software you use every day.

When and why did they fall in love with technology? What does their day-to-day schedule look like? What attracts them to open-source projects? And what’s their playlist of choice when hacking away on #Thunderbird?

Let’s kick it off with the person leading the charge on Thunderbird’s modern redesign: Product Design manager Alex Castellani @alecaddd!

blog.thunderbird.net/2023/03/m…

@thunderbird Hi! I used #Thunderbird back in 2004 couple of years. Maybe it's time to try again? 😅

Here's an early look at some fun content we're launching next week!

We're calling it "Meet The Team." It's a series of conversations with each member of the #Thunderbird team, about stuff like:

☑️ When they fell in love with tech or software programming.

☑️ What attracted them to #OpenSource.

☑️ What their day-to-day looks like hacking on Thunderbird

☑️ And whatever else we decide to ask them and they're willing to answer!

We'll start with @alecaddd's origin story... Stay tuned for more!

A recent #Thunderbird Daily build introduced a nice, subtle change to the Application menu, aligning it with the window action buttons.

And a small green dot indicates that an update is available.

Thoughts?

just seems like Thunderbird has evolved more in the last year than it has in the last 10. Loving it and a daily #thunderbird user with all my email accounts “unified.”

Thunderbird 115 "Supernova" will be intuitive and welcoming to new users, while remaining familiar and comfortable for our veteran users.

See how we're accomplishing that balance with this preview of the new Folder Pane: blog.thunderbird.net/2023/02/t…

The Thunderbird community is constantly submitting feature ideas to improve Thunderbird.

But these ideas need upvotes and discussion to get traction. Check out the latest suggestions and add your voice to the mix at connect.mozilla.org/t5/ideas/i…

Pencils and pens look very old as well. That's because they dither very slightly around an evolved functional shape that happens to be quite simple.

I'm glad that I can choose whether to "enjoy" having the shape of my tools arbitrarily rearranged. I don't need to have scrollbars shrunk, whitespace added, tail fins, uncomfortably skinny jeans, optical function of glasses shrunk, etc.

But even so, please don't confuse fashion accessories with tools, #Thunderbird

#Thunderbird Product Design manager @alecaddd answers a burning question with some important history, a look into the future, and some real talk.

blog.thunderbird.net/2023/02/t…

Some of these talking points might be divisive. They might touch a nerve. But we believe in being transparent and open about both our past and our future.

Just now I spent 20.- CHF wisely; thunderbird by mozilla depends on our #donation. Maybe you can #help to keep this useful project going in the future?

I donated too. Have used #Thunderbird for many years and it's great software.

Btw, if you think #thunderbird rocks, and you want it to be even better, and also to say thank you for the great work recently accomplished, you can tip here: give.thunderbird.net

Hey #Fosdem! Jason is heading to the #Github Open Social event tonight at Scott’s Bar and Kitchen— and he has a limited quantity of these #Thunderbird stickers and T-shirts to give away!

Want one? Find him between 8pm and 10pm. He’s wearing a Thunderbird hoodie.

We're preparing to ship a 2nd build of Thunderbird 102.7.1 with an improved patch for the #Microsoft365 #oAuth issue reported here: bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.…

Our anticipated release window is before midnight Pacific Time, January 31.

Thanks a lot for your patience as we worked through this one.

I love Thunderbird. The 102 refresh just made it that much better. The one tool to manage all my mail. Thank you #thunderbird

I'm a user of both #Thunderbird and #Audacity and I agree - great products. Audacity has been indispensable for digitizing my LP collection (for personal use only, of course).

#Thunderbird is proud to be included on TechRadar's shortlist of the 10 best #OpenSource apps for 2023!

techradar.com/best/best-open-s…

On a personal note, as the person running this account, it's especially awesome to see #Audacity on the list -- that was my first introduction to #FOSS in 2001.

Gateway software is important 😉

❓ What would YOUR Top 10 open source applications be for everyday use, and everyday users?

Watch out for this cap at #Fosdem in #Brussels if you want to talk to me about #OpenPGP in #Thunderbird - what's happening Friday evening?

Version 3.0 of #Thunderbird also ditched compatibility for Windows 95, 98, and (🤮)ME.

The organization that developed and produced #Thunderbird 3.0? Mozilla Messaging.

Hope you enjoyed this blast from our past. Let us know if you personally used Thunderbird 3.0 back in the day. #tbt #ThrowbackThursday

(Here are the archived release notes: website-archive.mozilla.org/ww…)

#Thunderbird 3.0 also saw the debut of the Add-ons Manager (but in very, very beta form), letting you extend the functionality and visual look of Thunderbird with themes and new features.

Plus, it introduced tabbed email view, new account setup wizard, and... wait for it... auto-downloading of IMAP folders! 😀

#tbt #ThrowbackThursday #ThunderbirdTimeMachine

Let's hop into the #Thunderbird Time Machine for a look back at Thunderbird 3.0!

Released on December 8, 2009, v3.0 introduced a Migration Assistant to let you easily activate new features (like Smart Folders and a redesigned Toolbar) or stick with the old ones.

#tbt #ThrowbackThursday

#thunderbird is still my preferred mail client in 2023.

This short write-up is just to remind folks on its many uses!

A few seconds of time here and there can really add up! When you need to send an email NOW, you don't want to backtrack through menus...

So we've added a floating Compose button to K-9 Mail version 6.500 -- available now to test in Beta, on both F-Droid and Google Play.

(Learn how to access the Beta here forum.k9mail.app/t/how-do-i-be…)

Floating compose button in K-9 Mail beta. Behavior is the best of any of these floating buttons that I've seen (I like that we have an extra line when you get to the bottom so it doesn't cover any content).

If you aren't already - follow @k9mail and @thunderbird for more updates!
