Linus Torvalds Lashes Out At RISC-V Big Endian Plans
Linus Torvalds has come out strong against proposed support for RISC-V big endian capabilities within the Linux kernel...

The Android Airplay client DroidPlay (apt.izzysoft.de/packages/com.t…) hasn't seen any update for 10 years. We still see regular downloads from F-Droid clients for it. As there are not many alternatives, we'd still keep it in our repo if it's still useful.
Anyone here using it? Does it still work, or should we rather drop it?
EDIT: solved, we'll replace it with a much more recent fork already available in our repo 🥳
@Megamichi Thanks! That challenged me, so I've searched our repo – and found we already have a fork of it:
apt.izzysoft.de/packages/com.g…
was last updated in 2024. Even the screenshots are identical. And the readme says it was forked from the last version, so it's not just a newer compilation of the same code.
And it even has a counter part: apt.izzysoft.de/packages/com.g…
TL;DR: We will keep it for 1 month, with a note pointing to the successor, then remove it. Thanks again!

It's wild (and unsurprising) to me that journalists act tough when they have ample opportunity to negatively comment on accessibility, but don't ever mention accessibility wins.
Despite all the noise I made with accessibility on GNOME Calendar, no journalist has gone further than "better screen reader support and keyboard navigation", meanwhile most didn't even mention it whatsoever.

Those people shouldn't call themselves journalists actually.
The basic principles of journalism are neutrality and impartiality. They should cover *both* advances made and current issues.
What those "journalists" do now is called propaganda and should be treated as such.

PSA, the new Android 16 update will surreptitiously reenable fingerprint device unlock even if you had intentionally disabled it before. Depending on where you live and your threat model, this might not be safe! Americans have little protection against law enforcement compelling biometrics unlock. To make matters worse, the fingerprint unlock settings are found in a different part of the security settings UI than the rest of the device unlock settings. If you update to Android 16, make sure your device unlock settings are what you intended.

*smh* the problem AI is designed to solve is the problem of paying wages.
No wonder megacorporations are desperate to normalise this slop.
Depress or eliminate wages, eliminate all these upstart people not born to the right parents.
The eugenicist project behind it is clear with even the tiniest bit of pattern recognition.

How I maintain release notes for #curl
daniel.haxx.se/blog/2025/10/01…
I believe a good product needs clear and thorough documentation. I think shipping a quality product requires you to provide detailed and informative release notes. I try to live up to this in the curl project, and this is how we do it. https://www.daniel.haxx.se
Anyone here using the "spynet Camera" app (using your Android device as IP camera)?
apt.izzysoft.de/packages/com.s…
It's unmaintained since 2017, but we still see daily installs. We can of course not tell if the then installed app worked satisfactorily – so we need your feedback whether we shall keep it or not 😊 Thanks in advance!

@Lenni That's exactly the open question: whether this apps offers any features not covered by the alternatives…
Just "being old" and "no longer maintained" alone are insufficient reasons for removal. No demand, not working, security issues are other points pro removal – being niche but still considered safe would speak against removal.
Such decisions always require careful weighting of arguments. Which is why, when in doubt, we reach out to those using our repo 😉 So thanks for your feedback! 🤗

Last I checked I can't do either without building from feature branches, which was just inconvenient enough for something that wasn't a priority. On my todo list if that feedback helps?
