Just found out that the open source Python library for converting webpages to PDF, Weasyprint, has recently added experimental support for creating tagged PDFs that conform with PDF/UA: weasyprint.org/

Well, whatever you decide, you'll help the Mastodon community either way. And if @nolan no longer wants to maintain Pinafore at some point, he can always transfer ownership to someone he trusts to keep the project alive and healthy.
@fireborn It really is. Having said what I said (based on the author's blog), it seems development is still pretty active and pull requests I submitted a couple days ago have already been merged, so we'll see. It's definitely not retiring just yet.

You can also ask Homepod to find a device. I do find it a bit unreliable though. Sometimes says there's no such device, sometimes says it can't find devices right now, sometimes fails the first time and works the second, etc.

Tusky má hlavně hardcodovaný blacklist instancí. Je naprosto nepřijatelné, aby o takových věcech rozhodoval vývojář za uživatele. Jako by Firefox nedovolil zadávat některá URL.

This is a terrible, terrible idea. Accessibility technologies, by necessity, have access to a lot of information, and that access will be abused. The way banking malware works on Android is a perfect example of that.
@miki I certainly wouldn't want to use Windows with only Narrator. We have a rich ecosystem of accessibility because there are multiple players. I want iPhone to be the same.
@miki Technically anyone can create a screen reader that sends your data back to them for PC. But I haven't heard of many people doing that. I don't know if anyone will do the same for iOS if they were unlocked like Windows and Android. And same for Mac. I guess it can be possible though for any OS with an open ecosystem, but I don't think malicious coders have found the blind community much, thankfully.

This looks great! If you want to benchmark your viewer with some difficult (Geo-) TIFF images, I recommend the Murray lab mosaic which splits up Mars into >500MB GeoTIFF images. When I worked with those images barely any image viewer was able to open them so I had to (for other reasons as well) build my own. Fair enough. FWIW, I find them useful precisely for content discovery, but even far beyond being new on a platform. Sometimes, I find it a good way to periodically find new interesting people to follow or things to read/learn about. But obviously just my personal perspective.
@jcsteh I think I was burned by all the hashtag spamming on Twitter, and then I see it happening here as that behavior manifests. Reminds me of some terrible amoral marketers I have worked with or near over the years. So I am a bit tainted.
Yeah, I can certainly understand that. I try to limit my hashtag usage to cases where I think people might actually be interested in discovering that content and to one or two tags at most.

Will probably need some minor tweaks in the feature, and since the Linux kernel does not support might high res scrolling mouse yet, I have to build a Kernel to test it 🙃
Added some missing keyboard shortcuts and updated a lot of metadata. Also, Loupe is now submitted for incubation which is the next step on its way into GNOME Core:

Looked a bit into loading images today since that sounded vaguely relevant for an image viewer. Things I'm currently looking into
- Know image size early to open new window in correct aspect ratio - Show the available parts of the image if loading takes a long time - Animated images
Rebased the MR for showing more metadata. Added support for parsing the GPS location, showing the city and country, and opening the exact location in Maps (geo URI). I think it could need some better design though.
ooooh, speaking of changing images! @mairin had a feature request for EOG which I don't think ever got implemented - about preserving zoom and scroll position while browsing images. I think it was for comparing sections of artwork, or something like that?

If you want good support for Exchange you can check out "Owl" (beonex.com/owl/), which is a plugin for Thunderbird. There's a free trial period so you can check it out, and after that the price is worth my money at least :)

One thing I noticed when first joining #mastodon and running an instance, is that the quality of content on open relays are just horrible.
So I decided to create a moderated / curated relay. Mostly targeted toward smaller instances that want to bootstrap to the federation but don't want all the noise.
It is still a new relay with only about 25 small instances connected, but I hope that in the future it can provide quality content.
You know... I wish hive all the best because more options are better than none. However, people running to that platform are just repeating history. A platform run by one organization with some pretty paint to cover up the flaws.
I know we can't convince everyone to embrace decentralization, but it irks me that people haven't learned this lesson yet.
