@dhamlinmusic Here it doesn't remember the selected setting even when it's toggled on and off. And, of course, our bug tracker is aimed at gathering screen reader bugs like this.
Ah it already forgot it after the phone locked so yeah it's a bit werse than before, but this is a very old bug, like android 10 or 11 era talkback. Also affects #voiceview on amazon Fire devices I believe.

@clifton panoramax.mapcomplete.org is a closed instance and only meant for pictures from MapComplete.
However, panoramax.openstreetmap.fr is AFAIK an open instance, mostly meant for France though. And the idea is that more servers are set up, e.g. one for your country. Talk about it with your local community.
@fexplorer funnily enough the mapillary mobile app allows you to save pictures locally on your phone instead of uploading them. But most people tend to walk/cycle with camera's like gopro's.

Super excited to have all the seasons of Stargate SG-1 described now. I suppose that's what I'll be doing for my birthday, that show needed description pretty badly and the TTS one is better than I expected it to be. Perfect, thanks. I'll see if I can find the show on sale somewhere. My personal rule is to buy a digital copy or DVD of any show or movie, so I can at least give the creators something. I know this doesn't pay the describer, but there's only so much I can do. No judgement to those who simply grab the content from the vault. It's just my way of feeling better about things.
@alexhall oooh yeah, I had gotten them off Amazon years back to watch, but quickly discovered after the first 2 easons that I just wasn't into it as much as I had to read the plots off Wikipedia for episodes often. I actually do wonder what service offered it described, my guess is one of the big ones (Spectrum, ET AL) uploaded it and now we have it. Also a bit of the sad part as often it's on these propriotary streaming services (bundled with internet or cable TV)
Amazon is the only place I've run into TTS description. I think it was Midsommar, and it was pretty bad. But that was years ago. I'm sure things have improved, and it's more common now. I'll always love human describers, especially the great ones, but I'll take TTS if it means more described content than we'd otherwise have.
this one is really good, it actually describes scene content and not things you could know by sound alone. It's one of my gripes with English description companies, they are very amature in most (earlier) described content I've listened to. Maybe that's improved by now, and still credit to them for describing earlier shows like Malcolm in the Middle, but with the pitch shift and describing of sounds and not where it's needed really grinds my gears, so I'd rather take TTS than them.
I've listened to a few movies described by British people, then the same ones described by Americans. I definitely agree that the British descriptions often lack a lot of detail. I sometimes wonder what I missed in Doctor Who because of this.
@alexhall It has nothing to do with whether a describer is British or not. Rather, there are two main factors contributing to some British AD feeling less wordy: 1. Domination of Red Bee Media, a company providing description for a number of primary TV channels, including all of the BBC's output. Their style tends to be on the more... minimal side. 2. British television has a lot of unnecessary padding around each AD utterance, sometimes up to one and a half seconds of wasted time. As such, the available time for the actual description is reduced, and it means that a describer cannot just throw in a short word or phrase in tight spots.
Even if you don't download TV recordings, the practices are ingrained within the styles of the main players who provide description for television. But there's plenty of British-accented AD from companies who've never described for TV, and hence haven't had to adapt to such limitations. For example, Descriptive Video Works and International Digital Center have world-class British describers.
@jscholes @alexhall oh interesting! I do wonder which company described shows like Frazier / Malcolm in the Middle / other American sitcoms. It's been one of the main places I've seen British description myself so that might very well have been done by one of those services which do minimal descriptions. Good to know though that it's not a national practice there
@alexhall Am I the only one who feels really weird about using the vault? I normally rent or buy all of my movies off iTunes or watch them on streaming, but the vault has a lot of stuff that we just don't get access to otherwise. I've never downloaded anything from there, though I thought about making an account multiple times.
@ZBennoui You are not. I feel weird about it whenever I use it. That's why I only grab audio for titles I already own. It's very hard to deny the incredible convenience of being able to toss a bunch of shows and movies into my favorite iOS book reader app.
@alexhall @ZBennoui yeah, for me I do too a bit. If a show is on Netflix, Hulu, Paramount, ETC I'll watch it there first and then maybe grab a copy off the vault, as I think the issue of under-representation for AD content watched on streaming could be made worse by the vault. At the same time, blind folks need a reliable place to find AD content, so I get why there's a need for it to exist (and stuff like the Blind mice before it)
@JohannTan yeah some of them in the middle are. The later seasons (like 8 and 9) have human descriptions fully, but there are some patchy seasons for sure. Haven't seen it described though anywhere before this so I'll take what I can get xD

@vol4life8657 oh they have 8 and 9 if you do a full search. I think the only one missing from the list is season 10, I'm hoping by the time I get to watching 9 someone will get it up there though.
@vol4life8657 oh I think it means some are not described. Like s03E11 is the only one in the Season 3 set that's not. Might be that the others only have 1 or 2 the same way.

Rozhodně mi to dává smysl. Každopádně bude mi chybět. Piráti byla jediná volitelná strana, na kterou jsem byla hrdá. Udělali spousty práce co nebyla bohužel prodána, a opoziční strany vesele házeli špínu kde se dalo i nedalo. A tak se vyhrávají volby..ne poctivou, vydřenou práci a skromností, ale co nejvíce házení špíny, lží, a dezinformací a dezinpretací, spolu s infantilním populismem a ANO, SPD, Turko mají voliče v kapse. Velice smutné.

@mwenisch That's a pity. What exactly makes it hard to try? Do you get several nags before it runs? I've been away from macOS for years now, but I've read here and there that their "security measures" have gone a bit off the rails these days.
You can't run it without disabling the security completely (expert level in terminal).
When the author pays Apples $99/year fee they will be able to sign it and then it'll be just the soft warning (downloaded from Internet) where user can open the app in the end.
@mwenisch Thanks for the info. "Amaaazing" how Apple always knows how to earn money from every possible angle. This is a one-man personal project, and he gives it away for free, so I don't think he will pay Apple $ 99 per year for that.
It's same for Windows application, you need the most expensive trusted certificate on a physical medium to sign Windows binaries to avoid the"dangerous app warning".
On Windows it's just not that strict. Yet.
I did both and Widnows is more expensive and more painful to release software.
I assume you only need to pay Microsoft if you publish your app via the Windows app store? I can effortlessly run trivial Windows executables I downloaded from the internet.
One warning message is OK, but I'd hate having to go into a terminal to shut down security on a deep level, just to be able to run something.
