Thank you for your reply. I did some internet search and found that many other snaps are also affected by this “design”, most notably Firefox. There they also had endless debates about $DOWNLOAD/firefox.tmp.
Having a USB-C charging standard is great. Until you get chargers like this one with USB-C connector and 9V. Using that would be a great way to kill some devices. Apparently, GTMEDIA just replaced the original DC port with USB-C without other changes to the device and the charger
@stepan Unfortunately I don't have away to measure the USB-C connector, but looking at the supply label it does (the label actually states it has a circular DC connector). It doesn't list 5V at all, unlike any other USB-C power supply I have around.

@simon and this is why I’m not much on Samsung stuff. I’ll use it if I have to, and their TV and music player apps are pretty darn good. I will never forgive them for not releasing Samsung TV plus to everybody. That is an excellent service and has some channels that none of the other ones have. with their very screw methods of handling stuff, though, I don’t know that I’ll ever willingly own another one of their devices.
@Accessible Android My guess is that talkback has overridden the recent apps screen presentation to allow scrolling and it's identification has changed thus the proper fix would be at the samsung side of things but the talkback tweak would certainly be eeasier for the developers.
So this sucks if you have privacy issues: apparently all that rigamarole you went through to get your passport isn't enough, so if you are a Canadian (or American) wanting to visit Europe, you need to share your biometric data with bloody apps to be approved.
Because I guess our governments aren't vigilant enough when granting passports? Or the countries want to collect and store data on people. :(
@kkarhan pre 9/11 Canadians didn't need a passport. This changed sometime post 9/11. But any other passport holder got fingerprinted. You would be amazed at how many Canadians told me I was lying when I said people got fingerprinted to enter the US. And that was in the first decade of this century.

If you are really looking for something functional and have some technical knowhow, it's CLI though, check out calc, isthe.com/chongo/tech/comp/cal…. It's a C-style arbitrary precision calculator with absolutely gobs of functions, it's got readline for history, variables, the ability to define functions including in an rc-style file I think etc. Doesn't build natively on Windows, but you can build it in Cygwin.
I have a calculator assigned to alt+f12 at home (it came that way on install). I also have alt+f12 as an NVDA console gesture in my portable copy, though...

So I was able to install 1Password on the blind Shell classic three, it did not scan my QR code from my iPhone, so I’ll try entering my secret key and 1Password later today to see if it lets me sign in. I did get Google authenticator installed, Slack, And a few other apps! Kind of intrigued by this little device! It did not let me install, Gmail. But when I lost my vision, Minecraft felt like a closed door. And while games might not be life’s top priority, let’s admit it—they’re a fantastic way to unwind. Losing that world stung.
That’s where Minecraft Access comes in. It’s a mod that makes the game accessible for blind players. Sounds amazing, right? When I first tried it four months ago, though, things didn’t go as planned. I wandered aimlessly, got hopelessly lost, and rage-quit before a creeper even had the chance to blow me up. But yesterday, armed with more patience (and probably less sanity), I decided to give it another go.
And you know what? This time, I crushed it. Well, not literally—I didn’t fall into lava, for once! I set up an underground base, complete with a wheat farm and an infinite water source. I mined iron, found diamonds (yes, diamonds! I’m rich!), and lit up my surroundings so mobs wouldn’t spawn. Because let’s be honest, nothing says “bad day” like being smacked by a zombie you can’t even see.
So how does this all work? Minecraft Access narrates the block in your crosshair, tells you its position, and makes inventory and crafting fully accessible. I navigate with ASDW keys, craft like a pro, and honestly, I feel like I’ve rediscovered a part of myself I thought was gone.
Of course, it’s not all smooth sailing. Navigating the terrain is like playing a guessing game where the prize is not falling into a ravine. And while I can build functional stuff, making it visually appealing? Let’s just say my creations won’t win any beauty contests. But hey, I can still mine, explore, and survive—and that feels like magic.
The real heroes here are the developers of Minecraft Access. Turning a game this visual into something a blind player can enjoy is a Herculean task. They’ve done something incredible, and they deserve all the praise (and maybe some pizza, because who doesn’t love pizza?).

So, the latest news: I started a new position today! Thanks to a certain amazingly wonderful person from Germany who I've never met in person, we were able to eat and pay bills throughout December, which is why you haven't had to see me begging like this. (Thank you sooooo much, sir!) Now we are down to the last $15 of those funds, and I've got to figure out a way to feed my family for the next 2 weeks, and then move to the bay area in California (without them :( ) on the money I get from my first paycheck. Way less than ideal, and yet waaaay better than what we've been facing for the last 11 months. This is the home stretch!
