Hi, thanks for reaching out. You will be able to disable the majority of those notifications (like surveys and other non critical pings) with a pref, but donation appeals will still happen (3 or 4 a year, max). We rely exclusively on donations to keep maintaining a free product, so completely blocking those really affects us negatively
@alecaddd Thank you for the detailed information. It seems enterprise / corporate use was not considered when deciding to prevent disabling donation notifications. This is worse than Nagware - nagging will continue even when donating, right ?
we're talking about 1 appeal every 4 months. Is "nagware" really the term you think is appropriate to use? Anyway, we're exploring enterprise specific solutions, as well as anonymous, in-client, and encrypted donor recognition so we don't ask again to the same users. We obviously don't want to be annoying, but I hope you can understand how difficult it is to support millions of users without some very sporadic donation appeal

I am really not against donations notifications, just not in an office context, when it's already installed and I am upgrading. Enabled by default, yes. No way to disable it, please - no.

This is very important for people to understand. When the Internet Archive temporarily went down and then came back up piece by piece, it was a real blow for me as they are a source of important content for me. It's important to consider that if there's something that you want, grab it now. Everything is on the Internet until it isn't.
Been using @joplinapp and a handful of plugins, along with my @nextcloud server, for notetaking over the past week or so since they added accessibility improvements. It has some rough edges but, aside from TiddlyWiki which is also accessible but also more opinionated, this is the best accessible notetaking system I've found so far.
So far I've loaded all the manuals for my last year or so of major purchases into it as PDF attachments, and the PDF viewer is about what you'd expect from a browser so certainly serviceable. Next I'll document how things are wired and complex button layouts, and it'll be great having those alongside the manuals. Also using journaling and this inline todo plugin to document the things I need to do alongside their context, then have them collected from my journal entries and displayed in a consolidated task view. Nice!

#Garmin watch owners, beware! There is a problem with a GPS coordination file that can brick your watch. Until it's resolved, avoid any GPS activities and/or turn the watch connectivity completely off. My model is affected. 😕
UPDATE: Garmin has replaced the corrupted file with a fixed on their servers. If you have an affected model, but your device hasn't gotten into the boot loop, you're advised to go the Garmin Connect app and enforce the device sync to download the fixed file. The article has been updated accordingly.
@cpamoa my model is affected, but my watch (Epix 2) still works and I'm avoiding GPS activities until it's fixed. I read that Epix/Fenix models don't require hard reset, so if it gets into to boot loop, it should be fairly easy to fix.
@chillicampari Turning off the connectivity is probably not needed any more. Garmin has removed the broken file and replaced it with a fixed one. The article has been updated and advises to go to the Garmin Connect app and enforce sync with the watch to download the fixed file.
Long shot but worth trying. I'm #blind, want to redo my website(s) in Zola, and am looking for a theme. Can anyone please recommend something that a) looks good b) is somewhat flexible and c) would be appropriate for a blog/portfolio/project list? I realize that's a broad/vague ask, and I'm not very picky FWTW, but the Zola theme site is not terribly helpful if you can't see the screenshots.
If I had to narrow things down a bit more then I'd probably pick something Bootstrap-based since I know Bootstrap classes a bit more than Tailwind, but that's not a hill I'll die on if something looks/works better.
This is for both my personal site and, maybe, lightsout.games as well. The setup I used for both of those is creeky and less useful than I'd originally hoped so it's time to go back to mostly static.

Really interested on what you get as feedback. I'm currently using Nikola and wanted to switch away from it as well. I tried building a website myself, but that obviously requires CSS and won't look great. I looked at Zola and didn't find a suitable theme either. I personally don't need blog support, but everything else goes for me too. Right now i'm trying Grav, but meh... something feels off here too.
I feel that. Using Grav here too and they never really improved the git sync story. Haven't checked out their admin interface in a while, is it any more accessible? I just straight up didn't use it and did all my config via git but that was always creeky AF.

As an excellent programmer once noted: constraints induce creativity and focused design. Delta Chat has been running against classic e-mail provider constraints for years and had to evolve its code to work against these constraints (rate limits, spam filters, signups, delays etc) and thus we were uniquely positioned to create a minimal #chatmail server template that beats Gmail, Outlook, iCloud etc regarding security, performance and efficiency. I just want to say how much I enjoy the hell out of my Ableton Move. I got one on day one. Currently, I'm in a position wherein I don't have access to 99.9% of my musical instruments and related gear. I have very little space to work with. This situation is unlikely to change in the near term.
Meanwhile, my hearing continues to deteriorate, and I feel like I am running out of time before I can't do anything musically, so, despite stupid conditions, I need to take advantage of things while I still can.
What's so amazing about the Move, though? Lots of folks see it and say "ah, it's another groovebox with lots of limitations." Or, for those in the no, they might say something like "Wait, isn't that just a slightly more limited hardware version of Ableton Note for iOS?" Well, yes, it is all of those things, but what truly sets the Move apart is it's (currently undocumented) screen reader. Yes, that's right, it's a nearly completely accessible groovebox that, when combined with a modern web browser, speaks almost every button press and turn of it's knobs in real time. No more counting clicks, memorizing menus, all that stuff that we as blind musicians got so used to. It's a real game changer for me as a totally blind musician.
Ableton really went big into accessibility with Ableton Live, Note for iOS, and now the Move. I'm sure this trend will continue with up-coming versions of both hardware and software. I have yet to play with any of their stuff beyond Note and Move, but I fully intend on giving Ableton Live a try at some point, and I'd love to see an accessible Push one day.
The accessibility they have now in Move isn't perfect, but they are aware of the current issues, and it's an absolutely fantastic first release. There are only a few things that don't read. Currently, the biggest hurtle is getting the device connected to your WiFi network so you can point a browser at it without tethering via USB C. The first time I set mine up, I did this with sighted help, but I was able to manage it, very slowly and kind of painfully, by using Envision's short text feature, not even the AI stuff. Hopefully, this will be addressed in future releases. This device runs Linux on a Raspberry PI CM4, and I fully intend on looking to see what they're doing for their network management stuff, and I'd love to help them make this more accessible if they'll let me. I'm not a Linux expert by any means, but I have a few ideas of how this could be implemented, potentially.
Seriously though, inclusive design combined with an already intuitive UI makes for a great experience.
I can say, without any doubt, that I've had the most fun in years making music with this thing, it's four tracks and all kinds of limitations included. It makes you think about things very much outside the box, and I'm absolutely hear for it.
Let's give a big shout-out to inclusive design. Make your products more accessible, and you'll get a whole new user base, increased loyalty, and free advertisement.
Ableton didn't bolt on their accessibility when it came to the Move. It was built with it in mind from the ground up.
