Yikes.
Three people "nearly lost their lives" after relying on a tidal app, rescuers said. They were cut off waist-deep in Silverdale, Lancashire, on Sunday after an app they used to check the tide levels showed information for an area with the same name in the United States.
That area, Morecambe Bay, has one of the highest and fastest-moving tidal flows on the planet. In the space of an hour the water can easily rise 5-6 metres. Given how cold it is at this time of year those people are extremely lucky that the rescuers got to them so quickly.
A plea to developers everywhere - your app could be used by people all round the world, don't make any assumptions about location, countries, time zones etc.
