Einen #Desktop #PC habe ich mir vor ein paar Jahren zusammengebaut. Vielleicht hatte ich keine glückliche Hand bei der Auswahl von #CPU, #RAM und #Motherboard und das Zusammenspiel ist nicht optimal?

Er läuft sehr gut - bis auf unvermittelte Totalabstürtze ohne Logeinträge, die mir weiterhelfen konnten.

Irgendwann stolperte ich über ein #Gnome AdOn zur leichten Ampassung der CPU Leistung. Nach der Begrenzung der max. Frequenz via Multimedia-Mode lief er stabil.

Unter #ubuntu 24 funktioniert das AdOn nicht mehr und ich habe mir nun ein Script eingerichtet, welches nach dem Start die max. Frequenz begrenzt:

    cpufreq-set -c "${cpu##*/cpu}" -u 4490000

Schrittweise habe ich die Frequenz von ca. 4,3 GHZ nach jedem Neustart erhöht, und habe so die Stufe herausbekommen, bis der er ohne Absturtz läuft.

Interessanteweise stürtze er nicht bei Operationen ab, bei denen man es erwartet hätte, z.B. der Transkodierung von #Video. Das letzte Mal rauschte er in die Tiefe, als ich lediglich mit #Firefox #GitHub aufgerufen hatte ... was auch immer da die Frequenz nach oben getrieben hat?

Es handlet sich um einen Intel® Core™ i7-9700. Dass ich die 4,7 GHz nicht zur Verfügung habe stört mich übrigens gar nicht. Jedenfalls bemerke ich keine langsamere Arbeitsumgebung durch die Begrenzung ... und Gnome ist offenbar seit den neuen Versionen stark optimiert worden, was die Geschwindigkeit angeht...

Of course. No worries. I had to hold off for a while with sponsoring too. That's the great part with free OSS software. But I felt like it's time to give something back for a tool that I use each day I'm at school at this point, and that made pdfs and pptx files to ones I'll actually use and read and no longer just discard because of their extension. Can't imagine how cool it must be for E-Books, but I'm not that kind of reading person actually so.

@ragb Não seria o primeiro. Mas nem é questão. O Público refere que há ali outras trans e não há nada disto com essas pessoas. A questão é que se é trans ou não é totalmente irrelevante, como disse, porque não há qualquer relação entre sê-lo e ser mais ou menos violenta, mais ou menos compliant com as regras da prisão. Estar a discutir se ele é ou não e se as trans devem ou não estar no meio das mulheres cis é já comprar o enquadramento.

@ragb Se começamos a discutir se devemos permitir sociopatas andarem à solta a matar pessoas, já estamos a entrar numa conversa absurda, certo? É basicamente a mesma coisa. Não é recusar a discussão porque se tem medo dela. É evitar que a conversa entre numa discussão idiota. É ter valores seguros e dizer "isto, para mim, não está em aberto. Ponto final. @ragb É modificar a conversa e não entrar no mérito da discussão. É lançar outro tema. É fazer o que nos fazem, quando queremos discutir um assunto e atiram-nos com um assunto paralelo e nós, feitos tonos, vamos atrás e depois acabamos a discutir o sexo dos amendoins e nada do tema original, até que nos cansemos e vá cada um para seu lado e pareça que a nossa posição, no tema original, era insustentável.

@ragb Mas estar sequer a discutir se há ou não passa a ser opinião. É claro que não há correlação. Quantas notícias de pessoas trans violentas vemos? Zero. Isto é uma excepção enorme e é numa pessoa que é obviamente criminosa. Estão a discutir o caso da pessoa, mas não discutem todas as restantes agressões, de outros prisioneiros cis. E não é só agressão. Se tivesse sido fuga ou violação, seria a mesma coisa, como se as cis lésbicas também não violassem e não houvesse fuga de cis.

@ragb Estão a hiper-focar no caso. Por isso é que pergunto: vão agora fazer reportagem sempre que houver uma agressão? Ou é porque a pessoa é trans - sendo que isso nada tem a ver com o acto? É a mesma coisa que agora estarmos a hiper-focar no caso de alguém de uma minoria que fez alguma coisa que qualquer outra pessoa da etnia maioritária faz. É estabelecer uma correlação entre dois factos - acto e etnia/identidade de género - que fazem zero sentido.

@ragb É nem entrar na discussão e focar no que é REALMENTE útil. Se referirem que era trans, é perguntar de que clube era, porque isso pode ser relevante. Ou se tinha alguma cifose. Ou o que é que tinha vestido. Se vamos começar a correlacionar cenas random, vale tudo. ELES é que querem atribuir significado à coisa. É não lhe dar sequer credibilidade, não discutindo a parvoíce e expondo-a como a ridicularia que é, reduzindo-a ad absurdo.

Com eles, os maus, percebo a tua abordagem. Ainda tenho duvidas em saber como ou quando usar mas essa é outra conversa. Agora.., se calhar por defeito profissional, encontro aqui uma area bastante interessante para bandidos explorarem fragilidades. A resposta a pessoas trans é frágil em geral, nas prisões não deve ser diferente, mais a mais as circunstancias. Isso deve ser conversado. Alias quem falou no publico parece ter algo mais a dizer.

@ragb Sim, eu acho que há pouquíssima informação sobre as pessoas trans para as poder defender. Há imensa ignorância sobre toda a situação delas e mesmo elas, nem sempre, são formadas para não replicar preconceitos. Estou agora mesmo a ler a biografia de uma trans, curiosamente. E há ali coisas que ela diz que me incomodam, porque imagino o pessoal anti-trans a pegar naquilo e a dizer "estão a ver, estão a ver?" quando é meramente um processo de aprendizagem, de saída da indigência.

ESSE é um óptimo ponto e é por isso que é importante haver disciplina de cidadania - para que crianças cresçam vacinadas contra essas ideias e não venham a contribuir para esse sistema; ou formação, para quem quem esteja numa situação de poder possa identificar o preconceito - dentro de si, que o pode estar a condicionar ou fora, que pode estar a condicionar outros - e o combata.

E isto é válido para N, N, N cenas.

@ragb Mas sim, acho que faz falta uma fonte de informação, para nos munir com informação. Já pensei nisso várias vezes. A própria comunidade estava agora a sair de séculos de indigência, a organizar-se e a começar a ter acesso a informação, novas terapias, etc. E agora, temos estes Fachos a fazer destas pessoas os novos bodes expiatórios.

For some privacy reasons I'll not be able to attach the entire PDF. However, I can show the page 15 that I was trying to open using LibreOffice Draw in image form.

It contains a combination of Bengali & English language and numerals.

Customizing my terminal makes me feel so productive! Of course, all of the time-saving aliases, hotkeys, and configuration changes I just made I'm going to forget within two days, and they'll never make it into my muscle memory. But hey, if I change several of the habits I've developed over a lifetime of computing, the modifications I just spent an hour making could save me as much as 0.2 seconds per month!

So I've got back into playing this mud lately[1] and recently learned, to my surprise, that the source is in a public github repo. A few months ago, I think that I crashed the mud, and the higher-level imms haven't been around lately, so I thought that I'd help them out by debugging my crash. I set up a local instance on my computer, tried to create a character called Sanctity, and struggled to figure out why it wouldn't let me log in. I attached gdb to the process and eventually figured out that it was being flagged as a banned name. There's a file listing names that are not allowed, one of which is "tit", and the code calls strstr against all of the banned names. So there you go: sanctity is not allowed because it contains "tit," which is a banned name. Make of that what you will.

New WhatsApp web app, you can kindly go suck my ... Like, wow. I just recorded a voice message but pressing the send button does nothing. Yup, nothing. And generally, this is just garbage. Why? Why why why why. I'm going back to fucking Telegram and Elten Messages with this type of shit.
btw the fix to actually trigger the send button is going into focus mode and pressing it. And make sure you don't hit the view once radio button by accidant.
