So I found the secret to getting Google to listen to us! See, you have to join their Discord servers lol.

So Gemini on Android is less accessible with TalkBack than Gemini on iOS or even Gemini on the web. And I'm tired as fuck of sucky ass technology shit for the day just trying to do BSI on this iPhone because obviously having both hands on either side of the screen is having more than 3 fingers on a single side of the screen or some bullshit. Crem of the storming crem, Apple. So St'm not going into detail about the issue here because anyone who's kept up with the complaining I do knows the issue. Anyway, so I join the Gemini Discord, and I thought I'd posted that issue months ago, but apparently not. I know I reported it from the feedback part of the Gemini settings, but this is just proof that they don't read that shit.

So I post the bug report in the bug channel, and within a good hour or 2 I get a reply. Because of course. Now Google, make a TalkBack Discord server lol. Fucking insane. But yeah y'all if you have issues with Gemini, go to their Discord lol.

Hi everyone, an exciting announcement today - we've released our first 64-bit alpha build, which ALSO includes on-device AI image captioning. For the full details and the caveats - please see this post in the NVDA user group: groups.google.com/a/nvaccess.o…

(Also, in response to a couple of questions:
- The keystroke for image captioning is NVDA+Windows+comma
- And yes, you can setup the new alpha as a portable copy rather than installing it).

So today I needed an interface with a few intentional accessibility errors that I wanted to show for a demo. It didn't need to actually work, I just needed to briefly record the effect of a particular issue. So I used #AI to vibe code it for me. It was perfect! Within fifteen minutes I had an inaccessible interface that didn't work right! Exactly what I wanted! No, but on a more serious note, it was impressive that it did manage to build in exactly the flaws I asked it for (and some bonus other flaws), and it was full fledged enough that I could show the issue I wanted to demonstrate without writing any code myself. I do find it somewhat ironic, though, that this is easily going to become the way I most frequently use AI at work, and it's going to save me a ton of time and effort.

Cory Doctorow @pluralistic on #AI:

[T]he AI bubble is driven by monopolists who've conquered their markets and have no more growth potential, who are desperate to convince investors that they can continue to grow by moving into some other sector, e.g. "pivot to video," crypto, blockchain, NFTs, AI, and now "super-intelligence." Further: the topline growth that AI companies are selling comes from replacing most workers with AI, and re-tasking the surviving workers as AI babysitters ("humans in the loop"), which won't work. Finally: AI cannot do your job, but an AI salesman can 100% convince your boss to fire you and replace you with an AI that can't do your job, and when the bubble bursts, the money-hemorrhaging "foundation models" will be shut off and we'll lose the AI that can't do your job, and you will be long gone, retrained or retired or "discouraged" and out of the labor market, and no one will do your job. AI is the asbestos we are shoveling into the walls of our society and our descendants will be digging it out for generations:

pluralistic.net/2025/05/27/ran…

The only thing […] that we can do about this is to puncture the AI bubble as soon as possible, to halt this before it progresses any further and to head off the accumulation of social and economic debt. To do that, we have to take aim at the material basis for the AI bubble (creating a growth story by claiming that defective AI can do your job).

I forgot that I did eventually edit the first line of the book. It was originally, "I did not want to write this book."

Disabling Intelligences eBook is available now link.springer.com/book/10.1007…

Image text : I’ll be honest. When thinking about what books might live in me, this was never one of them. It was certainly not the book I thought I would write first. I never wanted to become known for artificial intelligence (AI) criticism at all. I want to sit in a lab and tinker with tech, building little gadgets that delight my disabled kin. I want to maintain surreptitious code bases of free little hacks that disrupt our perpetually inaccessible and downright-hostile world. I want to share disabled DIY specs through crumpled little zines posted in libraries and coffee houses. I want to run a free digital manufacturing center just for disabled people to come and build exactly what they want without a doctor, insurance company, or bank account telling them what body they’re allowed to have.
But in order to do that, I have to fight the inadequacies in technology policy and medical care. And in order to do that, I have to fight the AI industrial complex. Because underneath every insurance rejection is a predictive algorithm, behind every assistive technology is a data collection scheme, and now, behind every technology policy is an AI hype man.

Has anyone looked at whether using #AI for coding will hold back adopting of new (improved) language tools and standards?

For example, #Drupal has used annotations for plugins for years, while #PHP attributes are the new preferred syntax. AIs are trained off of code of the past, which for plugins was all annotations until attributes were introduced. Does that mean the stochastic coding parrot will continue to suggest annotations because of their stronger weight in the training set?

Re last: Waiting waiting waiting! Waiting and looking forward! Given that most of news sites are accessibility nightmare, a morning brief from #ChatGPT would be an absolutely awesome feature. #AI

The 10GW data center deal between #Nvidia and #OpenAI seems even crazier when you put it into perspective. Czechia, home to 11 million people and an industrialized economy, has an average electricity consumption of 7 GW. The government subsidizes electromobility and encourages people to insulate their houses, yet it allows this. I hope the #AI bubble bursts before it causes real environmental damage.

Nvidia: AI’s Powerhouse, But Is It Too Late to Buy?

Nvidia dominates the AI GPU market with 90%+ share, fueling record revenue growth and becoming Wall Street’s AI darling. With data center demand exploding, long-term growth looks massive but sky-high valuation and rising competition make it a high-risk, high-reward bet.

I have finally moved over to Linux as my primary platform. In many ways it is like coming home, as I loved working on UNIX machines in the past. Of course, I have been using Linux as a secondary OS for a long time, but I finally made the switch. Microsoft cancelling Windows 10 and the direction Windows 11 is going was just too much for me.

@ruario helped the transition, by making it easy for me to work with multiple concurrent @Vivaldi installs.
That is a must for me as I test a lot of builds at the same time.

Jsem si vzpomel, jak nam kdysi ucetni nadavala, at to nedelame.

But we are not done.

Teach your developers ignore #AI generated warnings with this one weird trick!

If you look sy my previous post, under the erroneous "You should use OAI" message, there's a little icon and the word "Explain." You can ask the #LLM to explain the warning. Here's the explanation that Claude Sonnet 4.0 has for that warning. For those of you who don't want to read a screenshot, the LLM has prompted itself with:

Explain CloudFront Distribution Resources have an S3 Origin configured without an Origin Access Identity (OAI). issue in 70-frontend-stack.yaml at [29]

And the LLM's response to its own prompt is:

This is a false positive security warning. The issue is incorrectly flagged because:

You ARE using access control - Line 16-23 creates an Origin Access Control (OAC), which is the modern replacement for OAI

OAC is properly configured - Line 38 attaches the OAC: OriginAccessControlId: !GetAtt CloudFrontOriginAccessControl.Id

S3 bucket policy enforces OAC - Lines 120-135 ensure only CloudFront can access the S3 bucket

The security scanner likely only checks for the legacy OriginAccessIdentity property and doesn't recognize the newer OriginAccessControlId. Your configuration is actually more secure than using the deprecated OAI.

The warning can be safely ignored - your setup uses the AWS-recommended OAC approach for securing S3 origins.

Thanks for wasting my time AND egregious amounts of electricity generating a pointless "high priority" security warning.

Nvidia’s Rally Faces a Reality Check

Citi’s price cut and rising competition test Nvidia’s dominance. While NVDA still leads AI infrastructure with soaring revenues and strong demand for Blackwell chips, challenges from Broadcom, hyperscalers, and China are real. Long-term strength remains, but it’s no longer a “buy at any cost” stock.

#AI #llm

#ai #LLM

It's funny how #AI becomes completely clueless when it runs out of the 5 most discussed problems on forums associated with the used software. Then it just starts running round in circles and suggesting the same things over and over again. You're very quickly on your own.
#AI

Well, that was a "productive" Saturday evening! I needed to combine some smart home data and made a mistake by asking the #AI to suggest some approaches. After two hours of going down blind alleys and being misled by the AI with things like old or completely made-up API endpoints, I finally studied the documentation and realised it was not the right path. I then did some old-school thinking and searching, found an open-source library on GitHub that did exactly what I needed, and solved the problem in 20 minutes.

Open source vs AI: 1–0

Just for the heck of it, I decided to try #AI to fix an addon to run in the latest #NVDA alpha. I knew exactly what was wrong with it: it was importing a module included for #Python 3.11, and new alphas of NVDA are built with Python 3.13. I gave chat GPT the addon file, with this instruction: "In the latest alphas of NVDA, NVDA is now built with Python 3.13. That means this addon won't work. Please fix it." The simple solution would be to go get the right precompiled module from pip. But I didn't know if it would even be able to figure out what a .nvda-addon file was or how to fix it. Turns out it did. It spent six minutes, unpacked the addon, did things to the python code, then gave me back a new .nvda-addon file. But instead of just getting the right version of the module, it...rewrote the entire addon to not use that module. And its rewrite included some new features, while removing some existing ones. I'm kind of both impressed that it was able to handle the entire task on its own, and baffled that it did it in the hardest possible way. It even updated the manifest file correctly. It also left commented out sections of code, and created some Python files it never wound up using for anything. You could kind of see it doing something, forgetting what it was doing, then going to do the same thing a different way, but not deleting the half-completed evidence of the first attempt it abandoned for some reason. If more and more people use AI, code is going to get really, really weird and organic, y'all.
