Often on software development related forums I see statements like "You can't make real x in y".
I found it helpful not to take that too seriously. Sure, sometimes x has limitations which will make it harder, or sometimes impossible, to reach y, but more often than not, x will be just fine to achieve your definition of y.
Just go forth and make things. Don't let people tell you that what you're doing isn't real. Give it your best shot. If it does what you want, it's as real as it gets. Even if it doesn't, it's still real. And it's yours. And you made it. Don't be too intimidated by people saying that "you can never". The answer is always more nuanced than that.

Good news for the @Mastodon #iOS app‘s #VoiceOver support. @jedfox has been on a roll these last few days and has added some really awesome #accessibility related pull requests to the public repository. Hope they all get merged soon and new TestFlight builds be made available so we can test them out before release. Among the fixes is the compose button, custom actions, better labels in the compose screen, and more.

my reading has actually been all across the board lately (bc I love genre hopping & bc I’m training back up after a neuro disorder left me w literacy/processing difficulties). I’m personally struggling to find a satisfying romantic read & have never felt capable of writing it properly — I think I have a hard time connecting to them, even if I enjoy myself. My mum passed away in 2017 and apart from to bury her, I’ve not been back to the cemetery.
I’m blind, I can’t see the headstone and I speak to her every single day in my head anyway. For me, that’s enough, and I believe she’d understand. She was very pragmatic and I love her for that. A grave is only a resting-place for the body, not the soul. The spirit of a person is with us every day and we keep them alive in our minds and hearts by remembering them.
I’m comfortable in my own mind about that.

@Friendica Support I'm logged into my server running Friendica 2022.10 over ssh, trying to start the worker daemon manually.

$ cd web/talkabout.cf/public_html
$ php bin/daemon.php

The only output I get is:
Starting worker daemon.
But the daemon silently fails with error code 255, no pidfile is created and no tasks are performed until I run
$ php bin/worker.php
which runs normally. My error logs show nothing out of the ordinary related to the daemon. Is there another log I'm missing? Is there a way to get more verbose output from the daemon to determine what is causing the error? FOr now I have added a cron job that successfully runs worker.php, but I did want the daemon running instead. Thanks for any help.
